  1. I am an IR-1 filer from Nairobi, Kenya. I was DQd March 2020. The consulate here has been open for mission critical services since July 2020 and looks like over 100 CR/IR have been issued since partially reopening in July. I emailed the Embassy last week and they told me they don't have my case yet and it must still be at NVC. Now, in preamble on state.gov I read that we should NOT contact NVC to check up on case status.

I'm wondering if anyone else is, or has been, in this situation and if there's any other way to find out why NVC still has my case 8 months after DQing me? Should my USC wife make the inquiries?

  2. I recently submitted my (beneficiary) DS-260. I still haven't uploaded the civil documents and my wife (USC) hasn't completed her AOS yet. Days after my DS-260 submission I realized I made two mistakes or omissions, namely:

    1. When asked if I've ever gone by any other name/alias I indicated "no" but my birth certificate has the long-form of my first name. All my life I've gone by it's short version "Steve", all my ID documents (except the birth cert.), past US Visa, academic certificates, FBI background report, my country's criminal check, US credit report, Financial statements (US and here) have me as Steve. I should have noted the fact that my name is "Stephen" on the birth certificate but unfortunately this skipped my mind, nobody has called me "Stephen" since my kindergarten days. Is there any way I can correct my DS-260 answer?

    2. My wife moved to a new address a month before I completed my DS-260 and when filling out her address I didn't include her apartment number. We only realised this after looking at the confirmation of completing the DS-260. Is there any way to add the apartment number at this stage?

Thank you in advance for any help with these questions.
