  1. I got a letter (on pink paper), that is requesting additional info on our previous taxes. That is clear to me. However,

there is a clause that reads -

You are ineligible for interim employment authorization pursuant to Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 103.2(B)(10)(ii) until ninety (90) days after the missing intial evidence is received.

Mind you I have also filed for my EAD. I just can't believe this statement if I am reading it right.... are they saying this

RFE will delay my EAD by 90 more days? :crying:

Kindly clarify this for me, if anyone else has gone through this...

    Thanks in advance!

    Asamu

    Hi there,

We both the got the same notice. So sad to know.I hope it will resume soon and so our EAD will be processed by God's Grace.

  3. Hey Mine,

I will be meeting Lira at LAX this month. I land in the morning time and she doesnt land until evening time. Then we fly back to New Orleans around mid-night. From what I've read, the POE usually goes pretty smooth as long as they have everything. :)

    Hello,

Glad to hear ya..I will be fying on the 3rd of June and POE at LAX.Have a safe trip to Lira.

  4. Hi everyone,

Does anybody here plan to have their POE at LAX?Or having done their POE at LAX?Hope to hear ya guys.Am planning to fly there one of these days in May.Let me hear a couple of experienced especially having a connecting flight after. Thanks alot am looking forward of it.

  5. What a great news...congrats!

    Hello VJ'ers,

It's an honored for me to those VJ'ers who shared their stories in getting visas. That makes a sense and really help me alot to go further without any doubts..Thanks guys!!!!!!!!Am looking forward on my visa so I can book a ticket right away.

  6. Experiencing homesickness after some of the excitement settles down is very typical when your wife or fiance(e) comes to the United States to start a new life together. My wife has been here about 32 days now and the symptoms of homesickness were very evident after about 2 weeks. Here are some suggestions that have really been of great help to her. Many of these reccomendations were suggested by members of the Manila Interview thread.

    1. Be patient, kind and loving. Hold her, listen to her and assure her of your love for her.

    2. Install TPC - The Filipino Channel - My wife loves it!

    3. Take her to church

    4. Keep her busy

    5. Search for Filipino stores, dining, etc. we found a great place in Jacksonville called Rustys Grill. It is Filipino cuisine and Karaoke. Rosemarie loved going here.

    6. Introduce her to Filipinos in the community. Many of them understand her homesickness, as they experienced just the same when they first came here to start a new life.

    7. Encourage her to call her friends and family back in the Philippines. We have Tel3 communications. Tel3 is inexpensive and easy to use (about 14 cents a minute to Cagayan de Oro). You can enroll online and it is far more convenient than purchasing phone calling cards.

I hope this thread will continue on, as it can be of great help to others.

    Glenn

    Hi Glen,

Im so sorry to hear your story..Where she particularly from in Phils.??

  7. Its advisable to have early medical, u have time to clear if they notice something on you. If u still dont have your packet 4, u can go at St Lukes with your NOA2 and printed visa appointment (thru checking online). Thats what i'll bring aside from the other requirements. I will have an advance medical too so tension will be lessen atleast, lol! Goodluck...

Thanks alot guys..I will be flying to Manila on the 18th of April to have my medical in advance along with my friends.

  8. I have a fiance in the philippines. We are filing for K-1. I have 2 children that aren't listed as dependents on my tax returns. I also have a small business. In addition i have gotten a part time job recently. My adjusted gross income for 2005 was only 11,000us my unadjusted was 29,000 big discrepency due to startup expenses. It is much higher in 2006. My ex wife owes me 50,000 from equity in our house. I have documentation of this. I have money in a 401k as well.

What is the best way to file all this in i-134? Can i use the 401k or the owed money? Do i have to list my kids as partial dependents on the form?

    Thanks

    hello there,

Whats the different between form I-186A and from I-134 for affidavit of support??I was a little bit confused??Please enlightened my mind.

  9. I couldn't agree more about the shout out to everyone that helps along the process at VJ and the guides for reference.

As far as the required / recommended materials to be taken to the interview; besides the documents listed on the page that TracyTN posted .. it seems to be recommended that you have all of the documents (originals) that were submitted by the petitioner to the USCIS (you definately want to review this information extensively before the interview)

Here are a couple of more links that may be helpful

Thanks for the post...It gives me sigh of relief and not getting into nervous..

  10. Hi everyone! We just finished our Visa Interview in Manila today and it went without a hitch or problem. Here are some tips I can give:

    - Someone had a guide here with layout of the place. Print that out and follow it.

    - DO NOT BRING YOUR X-RAY films. I saw a lot of people with it - it's not necessary. Just make sure you brought the sealed envelope St. Luke's gave you. It's a hassle carrying that large envelope around anyhow.

    - If a guard outside tells you to wait on the side first and you can't get in the "Waiting Shed" area, don't believe him. I dropped my fiance off to park the car and found her waiting on the side (where the vendors and fixers are). I went to the line and asked another guard and he said I could go in. Just tell them you're for immigrant visa. We were there around 5:40AM and our appointment was 7:30AM.

    - If USC is here to be with the fiance for the interview bring your PASSPORT

    - Don't bother bringing cel phones or any other electronic device. You'll just surrender them.

    - Inside the place you'll be given a ticket number ACCORDING TO YOUR INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT TIME. Ours was 7:30AM so we had to sit and wait until all the 6:30 appointees got their numbers first. So getting there really really early if your appointment is at 8:30AM is useless.

    - Don't worry about the numbers being called or flashing on the board seem to be higher than yours. You haven't been bypassed. They call the numbers in a somewhat random order - I think according to who can get your file together quicker.

    - Familiarize yourself with the surrounding - which window is what number - A few people wandered around when their number flashed looking for the room or window to go to.

    - Make sure you have 2 extra passport photos and your complete forms. The person in front of us didn't and so they asked him to go back outside and have passport photos taken, gave him missing forms and had them complete it frist. Instead of being #1 for our time slot they went to #24. still no big deal it was about an hour difference.

    - Bring at least Php 300.00 for paying Delbros for delivery of fiance's passport and visa. Ours cost around $165 (??) I think.

    - Be honest - don't be nervous.

    - They asked us the following questions:

    > How did our relationship start

    > When did we first meet face to face

    > When did I propose

    > Were we ever married before

    > Do we have kids

    > What do I do for a living? (the petitioner)

    > When did I arrive here in Philippines (petitioner)

    > When do we plan to leave for U.S. (we said sometime in May)

.... Pretty basic questions. There wasn't even any cross-examination, i.e. we weren't tested to see if we really know anything about each other.

    - I prepared a new set of pictures and copies of boarding passes, receipts, etc. to present as an ongoing relationship. The pre-screener Just took the pictures gave us back all the other photocopies. Then the Consul NEVER even looked at the pictures just gave it back to me, which surprised me. She just went through my old pictures (from my submission of the petition in the U.S.)

    - Here's another thing that surprised me. They didn't ask for her Police Clearance or Barranggay Clearance or CENOMAR. Just NBI and Birth Certificate is what we handed over.

Well that's it. No big deal. No hassle. Just make sure you have all your papers ready. Good Luck Everyone!!!!

    To Arnold & Joan

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!YOU MADE IT..

  11. Hi, I saw some people posting at their timeline like on their 2nd day of med exam at St Luke's "passed" . I'm wondering if they will let you know you passed on the 2nd day or you'll just find out when you had the interview when you give the brown envelope to the consul.

    Helooh guys,

Is there any requirements needed after the medical exam aside from the important things listed here in VJ?

  12. Keep in mind that medical exam and visa application fee alone are almost $200 USD. If you stay in a pension house and eat light, I think its ok. IF you stay in a hotel for a week and eat restaurant meals every day....I think it will be too little. If that is supposed to include travel expense....might be a bit tight too. As has been said...take more if you can. Better to have a little extra than a little short.

    Scott

    Heloo guys,

Good luck to our journey!!We were the next in line..
