  1. -this form is quickly becomeing obsolete and it is not uncommon for the Consulates to only ask for the first page from each person. You did what you were 'supposed' to do, and she can certainly shred your extras. When filed in the US, the G-325a was supposed to be sent to 4 different places--anyway, don't sweat it. Sounds like you are all on track--way to go getting the provisional file started (DS-230 I)--we did the same, and had the same issue--even tho we were totally ready, they wanted the papers mailed in.

In Bucharest they wanted all the four pages.

  2. our I-130 evidence consisted of photos since we met ( approximately 100 pics), photos from our wedding, IM conversations and this was it. I have to mention that I did not submit whole conversations, just a snapshot of the archive that clearly showed the dates ( we talked online every day).

unfortunately, I formated my computer and I couldn't find the cover letter, however, I noticed that it was useful for them.

  3. So, after the I-130 was approved, we received a packet with all the necessary forms to be filled out. I am confused about the I-864 affidavit of support. I have no income ( I was a student until last year and then moved to Romania and I am not working ). From my understanding, my parents would have to fill out this form. I have several questions to clear out:

    - Do I still have to fill out an I-864, even though I have 0 income and I am on my parents' taxes?

    - My parents fill their taxes as jointly. I am planning to use both their incomes for the I-864 (one of them makes enough to meet the poverty level, but just be on the safe side). In this case, one of them must complete I-864 and the other I-864a?

    - Does my husband have to show both W-2's and the tax returns? ( is it enough to show the 1040 photocopied and w2's? I'm not really sure about the term "tax returns" :D )

    Thanks for your replies

ps: If there is another topic discussing this I would appreciate pointing it to me.

  4. at the embassy i went with the I-130 form and the g-325a for me and my husband plus the additional documents (marriage certificate, passport photocopies and proofs of relationship) after about 2 hours the nice officer said he approved our petition and handed us the next packet. it sounds to me very similar with the old steps in DCF.

  5. Hey Guys I just wanted to say I just found out that Vienna approved my I-130 on the 21st so it took a total of 5 days including the wknd.

so you know its going pretty fast.

Now the ironically harder part comes I need to delay the interview at the embassy in so that we can leave at a slightly later date.

Oh yeah and DS-230 is apparently not reqired.

    Fofire

that is very good. congratulations. now the us embassy in bucharest is accepting petitions, i just called and made an appointment for the interview on monday.

besides what vienna office asks, here they require proofs of relationship.

    wish me luck :D

just to add something: i did not send my forms to viena because i am waiting for my bank statements to prove that i was here.

  6. probably you're the one from romania, i called on tuesday and they told me they had one petition from romania. i will send my package monday. how did you send the package? dhl?

    did you also send ds-230?

You can send it most any way you want I just went with UPS because I knew where to find it. If you're in Bucuresti there is a UPS place out behind the the Palace accross from the Marriot. You need to take the metrou to Izvor and from there its a 5 minute walk.

There's another UPS place out at Baneasa airport but I dont know if thats a logistics center or an actual place where you can give them stuff.

The only other UPS place I know about in Romania is in Timisoara. If you're not anywhere around those 2 places then I guess I would say try Prioripost and hope it gets through.

Im not sure what you mean by ds 230. I sent in everyhitng I could to prove I live here and then I sent in pics I-130 and the Biographic info for both persons. Nothing else.

It cost me 125 RON to have it sent off.

    Fofire

Good, I am in Bucharest, so probably I will send it with UPS. They recommended me Fedex but it's about the same.

I was asking about the documents you sent in because I read on another topic ( I think the one regarding Paris accepting petitions) that the ones in Paris require a DS-230 form also sent in. I guess we're on another boat.

    Good luck!

  7. Also - consider any travel health insurance or plane/travel records to establish your time of arrival in Romania.

ok, i don't have insurance here, because the private health system in romania is still cheap. but, this is a good idea, that might help others. i plan to show them my receipt of my flight ticket, copies of both romanian/american passports and the romanian residency card. also, hopefully my father kept all statements from the bank since last june and i'll have those as well.

i called the office in viena, as posted above they said that it's a brand new process and they did not get all the information from all the us embassies, such as how a residency card looks like and so on.

again, as above, probably they are not so picky.

  8. I request that posts be in English so the most people can benefit from them, thank. :)

Good clarification.. these are just brainstorming ideas, not things that I know as fact.

If you know the Mayor, yes, he'd be great! But only if he himself knows you've been there. Town Drunk on the other hand, would not be "reputable" in my book. ;)

With digital pix, can't you reprint them and add the date stamping option in the file info? I'll bet there is someway around it.

Remember that while one pice of evidence might not look much on its own, a combination of types of evidence will make a stronger picture. The ATM reciepts/bank statements are powerful (not foolproof).

Bear in mind too that you are starting a new type of filing.. rules are loose, Vienna may not be AS picky as you fear.

ok, english. here's a synopsis: she was telling me to go to the police and ask them, based on my romanian residency card, for a document that i have been living here in the past months.

of course, this is brainstorming, i am trying to get as much as possible to be prepared so that tomorrow i will call the office in viena to ask what is the best evidence. i will keep everyone posted.

i don't know the mayor, but it's a small city and everyone knows everyone but then again, that person may not know for sure that i was there:))

i only have them in digital, i know it has the date taken, but the date is not showing up. i'll see what i can do. good idea, i like it:)) it helps in the future, also.

  9. Thank you for your answer, the residency card is the one issued for Romanians ( buletin de identitate), I don't have the one issued for foreigners and I did not register with the police, just because I had all the Romanian papers.

Correctly if I'm wrong, do you suggest to go to the police and ask them for some paper that I was here as a Romanian?

  11. Didn't you take any pictures during the last 6 months? If you did that can prove that you have had continued presense in Romania. I have a camera that dates the pictures. I have been using that feature as we have been taking pics to submit with AOS and at the AOS interview.

    Mary K.

yes, i do have pictures, lots of pictures, but not many of them are dated ( i don't like that feature). of course, i can see what i can find. i will ask tomorrow in vienna if pictures can be evidence of my stay here.

this is more like a brainstorming, but i truly hope that we can think of something to be good enough.

  12. What's wrong with the research project evidence or the RO residency card? CIS doesn't care if you're a dual.

You have no record of your entry? (pp was not stamped or scanned at entry?)

Copies of your RO pp with your sworn statement of when you arrived?

Have you made any credit card purchases or used a bank card of any kind since you arrived?

Have you had any mail forwarded to you?

Have you changed your contact info for anywhere in the US?

Worst comes to worst, sworn affidavits from the most reputable people who can truthfully say you've been there.

I don't know what is wrong, I asked them and they were very ambiguous. I was caught by surprise and I did not think fast enough. I will tell them tomorrow if my RO residency card would suffice.

I do have a record, romanian passport was scanned and stamped at point of entry.

good idea of my ro pp and sworn statement.

no cc purchases, just the withdrawals from my US bank. the statements show clearly the location of the withdrawals. and i have more that one withdrawal/month.

no, i did not change my contact info, my permanent address is the same as my parents. i thought at that time i would leave as it is.

good idea with the affidavit. what do you mean by reputable people? the mayor of the city?:)) or people who know me?

    thanks

  13. So, here is a little history. In June 2006 I returned to Romania ( I have dual citizenship- Romanian/American) and planned our wedding in 2007, just because I knew that DCF at the US Embassy in Romania moves fast and there is little waiting. The law that was recently passed "forced us" to get married last Saturday to start the process with the USCIS ( we are still going to have the wedding party and the religious ceremony in the Summer, we got married only through a civil ceremony). We planned the wedding anyway, but my parents couldn't be here, in Romania.

So, in June 2006 I move to Romania. I enter Romania with my Romanian passport ( I knew I would stay for more than a year and US citizens have to apply for a visa if their stay is longer than 90 days and pay a fee:D) and since then, except for a trip to Austria that took 20 days in August and a research program in Italy from September to late October I was here, with my husband. I called the US Embassy in Bucharest and they told me that in Vienna there is a USCIS sub-office that takes care of the I-130 petitions, the only condition is that of being for the last 6 months here. I called in Vienna and they told me to get a document issued by the Romanian government stating that, I, US citized, have been living here since June. I told them that I have dual citizenship and that I entered Romania with my Romanian passport and they couldn't offer any suggestions of how to prove that I have been living in Romania. I did absolutely nothing here, I did not get a job, except for the research program in the fall. The officer in Vienna told me that I should get some kind of residency card to show that I was here. I do have a residency card, but it is the one issued for Romanians not for foreigners.

So, I was thinking to show them all my statements from the bank and all the withdrawals were from Romania. I did not file for taxes, my parents put me on their taxes, but it's not too late for the change, anyway. I don't have any other ideas of how to prove them I was here since June.

I am planning to ask the Border Police to issue me a document stating the date when I entered Romania, but I don't think that would be possible, ( the bureaucracy in Romania is terrible)

    Thanks for any suggestions,
