  1. Congratulations :).

I am waiting on packet 4 and i want to make sure Tram has eveything she needs to avoid a blue slip for evidence.

I am curious what evidence you submitted the first time that they gave you a blue slip? Can you tell me everything you gave them so i can see if i have enough?

What evidence did you add after the blue slip?

    Thanks!

On the first time, we submitted A LOT OF EVERYTHING we had ranging from wedding pictures, personal pictures, phone histories, and chat logs. Everything was in thick piles. The CO did not take much time to look at any of the evidence especially the pictures. They used most of the time for questioning. They asked my wife around 22 questions in total. At the end of the interview, they retained the phone histories and chat logs and returned all pictures with a blue slip stating not enough evidence and requesting for a sworn statement of timeline from the petitioner. With all of the evidences that we had, we were pretty sure we were in for good. But it was not enough.

On the second time, we had all the pictures (since those were not looked at previously) again with some more of phone histories, chat logs, and personal pictures taken together as well as with her family members during our normal family activities (cooking, eating, hanging out...). And the most important of all (in my opinion) are my personal appearance in document submission, my detail/professional and sincere timeline statement, and the fact that the statement was sworn in at the Consulate.

In genenral, I think it is very hard now a day petition for love one in Vietnam due to frauds. As the result, the first interview will be just a time for brief dicovery about the relationship. Unless the case is special, solid, and so obvious (many visit before the petition process together with reasonable and significant amount of evidence in communication and continuing of the relationship), it is definitely all about how far will a couple go to prove their bona fide relationship. I don't think the Consulate would want to have anything against any couple. They just want to make sure the relationship is bona fide. If you come to the Consulate to see it for yourself, the COs are very busy and have many cases to handle each day. Put yourself into their shoe and get a feel for what they might be expecting from your relationship and case. It is a lenghty and frustrated process. However, if it is real, you will know what to do from your heart. Remember, being patient, calm, truthful, sincere, consistence, and professional are the keys.

Above just applied to my case, of course each case might be different. Hope mine helps.

  2. Hi everyone,

Through many heartache situations, my wife and I finally have reunited in the States. What I did after getting the blue slip requesting for more evidence and timeline letter were:

    1. Went to Vietnam on 10/08/07.

    2. Sworn in in front of an officer at the USC Service Center of the Consulate on the letter providing detail and truthful timeline and information about our relationship, submitted the letter and additional evidences personally, waited for almost 4 hours and got the approval for the visa on 10/10/07.

    3. We then obtained the visa together on 10/18/07.

    4. We both arrived in the States on 10/22/07.

Except for the lengthy process at LAX and missed flight due to the same reason, everything is going great for both of us. My wife is getting settle in. We are both very happy and living a great newly marriage life together. Our next steps will be

    1. Preparing for a secondary wedding here in the States (since all my family members and friends are here).

    2. Waiting for the conditional green card and SSN card.

    3. Prepare our life together and looking forward for the next step in removing the condition on my wife's green card.

I just want to say thank you to each and everyone here on the website who have helped and supported me in my petition process. I guess I will be following some of you in my next process of I-751.

    Again, thanks very much everyone.

  3. Hi John,

What you have just described will definitely help my case. I have been thinking a lot about what a good reason would be to get an appt. Your suggestion is a perfect way for me to be able to present myself professionally as a live evidence of the relationship.

Thank you very very much for your advice. If you have thought of anything else that would be helpful, please let me know. My trip is planned to happen in 2 weeks.

  4. Hi AustinJohn,

I will give the Consulate a call and arrange an appt. There might be a possibility that they will not give me any appt for doc submission and tell me to come in anytime to submit according to the instruction given in the blue slip.

If this is the case, what should I do or say? I just want to know how to response to their answer while I am on the phone with them.

Thanks so much for your help.

  5. Hi,

Sorry, maybe I was not that clear on the questions. What I was asking is really just the process of submitting additional documents after the interview such as

    - Who can submit the required documents (beneficiary only or either one of beneficiary and petitioner)?

    - After submitting the documents per blue slip instruction, will we be waiting for the result (e.g. another blue slip, pink slip,.....) at the Consulate on the same day? Or we have to go home and wait for the answer in the mail?

    Thanks

  6. Hi Everyone,

I have heard that blue slip content can sometime tricky to understand. Can someone help me interpret the following extraction of a blue slip?

    <<<<<<

    ......

    * Section 221 (g) of......

    * Based on the information ascertained through the visa interview and through documentary materials, consular officers do not believe that there is a bona fide fiance'(e)/spousal relationship between Petitioner and Beneficiary. If you have any other evidence to present which would convince a reasonable person that the relationship exists for a reason other than immigration, please submit it. Please label and itemize all materials submitted.

    *[Vietnamese version of above paragraph]

Petitioner: In a sworn written statement, please provide a timeline of your relationship.

    * Please do not submit anything until you have ALL of the item requested above...... If you are unable obtain a requested item, please submit a written explaination.....

    >>>>>>

This is my interpretation so far: it looks like the following ITEMS will have to be provided. There will be 2 main items, not just one as marked by asterisk (*) and non-asterisk.

    1. Additional evidence to show a bona fide relationship.
If there is not any, there must be a letter explaining why
(e.g. everything has already submitted and there is not any more).

    2. A
    SWORN and NOTERIZED
statement in describing the timeline of the relationship.

Thank you so much for your help.

  7. Hi guys,

Does anyonw know what will be happening after additional documents is submitted per direction in the blue slip in HCM Consulate? Will my wife submit the additional doc, sit and wait for the answer from the review/CO in the SAME DAY? Or she will have to go home and wait endlessly for the decision in the mail after document submission?

Also, is my wife the only one who can submit the required doc or I, the petitioner, can walk in and submit the docs (if I can be in the country)?

    Thanks

  9. Kevin and Tuyen,

The only well-known with proven track-records I've heard is M.E. in HCM City. Need to contact him ASAP before they send your case back to the US. There is NOT even one lawyer I've known here in the US can stop this 'return to USCIS' action but M.E.

Good luck and please by all mean contact M.E.

    Hi,

What does M.E. stand for? Have anyone use or try that before? Where can you find more information about it?

    Thanks

  10. Can I ask you 2 questions? 1. what is Police Certificate and what is it call in vietnamese? 2. what's a timeline letter? Hope you guys get pink soon.

    Hi Cuong,

    Police Cert = "Ly' Li.ch Tu+ Pha'p" do "So+? Tu+ Pha'p" chung va cap.

    Hope that helps.

  11. Hi Kevin (if anyone else have comment, please feel free to input),

My name is Quang and my application submission to the consular is right behind you about a month. I think my wife will get the notification for the interview very soon. And probably the interview might be in Sept. I have been following your posts as well as timeline very closely. What you just described really concerns me.

My situation is very similar. Due to time limit, distance, cost in traveling, and my mom's availability, we decided to have the wedding right on my first trip. Not only that, my wife and I talked and found out about each other for only 8 months before the wedding. We started the relationship on around March last year and got married around November. There is one thing for sure is that we did talk a lot during that 8 month period. And we still do now. My phone records are around thousand minutes every month. We had been talking a lot and finding out about each other in many aspects especially thoughts, beliefs, way of living, even about how to raise our kids later :) ... before having the wedding decision. Also, our wedding had everything combined in term of "engagement and wedding". We had all different kinds of traditional ceremony (e.g. engagement at front of the relatives, wedding at the temple, wedding at home, a full and crowed reception...). We even plan to have the wedding here when she comes since all my relatives and friends are here.

It seems like we might get blue slip too. Do you know exactly what the CO asked or requested right at the interview? Did they go over all pictures, wedding stuffs, and proof of contacts (e.g. phones, chat...)? Also, can you tell me what is the exact request that is on the blue slip?

Thank you so much in advance. Praying going out to you and me :(

  12. Hi,

I have received a letter from NVC stating that my case is completed and is now transferred to HCM Embassy. In the letter, there is a section stating as following:

"All beneficiaries that have a sponsor filing the form I-864 Affidavit of Support on their behalf, are advised to bring the most current tax documents and supporting financial proof that is current at the date of the visa interview."

What do they mean by that?

    1. Do I need to send I-864EZ form and tax documents (returns & W-2) to my wife? If I have to do so, do I make a copy of the documents and send to her? Or I have to send the actual original/secondary prinout of returns and one of actual page of W-2 (Employee Copy)?

    2. Or they really mean that if ONLY by the time my wife has the interview and I am performing a new tax return (let's say March 08), I will need to send her that latest information to bring to the interview?

    Thanks.

  13. Hi,

I saw some couples posted the dates of which their case sent to the embassy and received by the embassy. Where can you find these information? Will NVC information telephone line provide this kinds of information as it happens?

Or you have to contact the embassy? If contacting the embassy is the way, when from the time of which the case is reported completed at NVC can we contact the embassy for such information? And which contacting method is beter? Email or Phone? Our embassy is Ho Chi Minh, VN.

Thanks for your help in advance.
