Hi all, I had my interview today.

It was scheduled for 9.45am but I got called at about 10.45. The officer was very nice and there was no stress at all. There were 10 questions for the civics test but I only had to answer 6. The questions were:

    - how many senators are there

    - why are there more representatives from some states than from others

    - for how many years do we elect a senator

    - when do we celebrate Independence day

There were other questions which I don't remember but after I answered 6 correctly it was done.

After that I had to read and write one sentence, and she went through all my application questions. This whole thing felt like a formality as it was already assumed that I am getting approved.

She said there was an oath at 1.30pm same day and asked if I had time to do it and I said YES. Other people waiting with me were also getting same day oath.

At 1.30 I came back for the ceremony and got my Certificate. Woo hoo! Very happy

The whole experience was nice and easy, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

    Good luck to everyone!

Hi, How long it takes the Oath ceremony? Do you know if they start at 1:30 pm every-time?

Adding to the info from everyone else, you can change your mind about the name change and decide you don't want it anymore. I requested a name change but during the interview told the officer I changed my mind and I wanted to keep my name. She just corrected my application with this info.

Did you take the administrative oath ceremony on the same day?

I requested a name change.  No it did not affect my timeline.

During the interview I was told that they could put the requested name on the certificate, but the seattle uscis doesn't have a judicial ceremony, so it won't be legal.  I did my name change via the courts a few weeks before the ceremony so that it would match the certificate.

At the end of the interview I was shown the information (name etc) that would be on the certificate-- at that point you can correct whatever name is shown there.

I want to change only one letter in the first name that why I chose a name change option on the Form 400. I think that this will be for free, is it correct?

I don't want to spend $197 in the court for one letter.
