  1. Have been reading and learning the process, and would like to ask a couple of things. Once we   have filed the DS 260, I know its a long wait, till we hear for an interview date. I am allowed to book  my medical, even before  I would get my interview date? Or is that not allowed, And also, after when I have had the medical, are the results given to me in a sealed envelope, ready to give at the interview, or are they sent to the Embassy. thanks for any help. Sandy

    Hi.

USC files I-130 and you file I-130a.  Then you wait.

After the I-130 is approved and sent to the NVC, the USC will get a bill.  USC files I-864 Affidavit of Support.  You file DS-260 visa application.  Afterwards interview scheduled.  With interview letter, you go and get your medical.  Then interview.

    No I-485.  No I-864a.

VJ has a Guide, so you can check there as well.

You are unlikely to get your immigration visa in 8 1/2 months.  The current wait is 12-18 months.

Hi, Thanks for your reply,  I know I'm confused, I-864 form, my husband files that, does he do that online, or send it to me in the UK, (sorry to be dumb), Obvioulsy I dont get the DS-260 until I-130  is filed. And  I understand about the time, what i meant was we will file the I-130 form  either the end of the year, or beginning of the year, and then wait. (Although wish it was  8 1/2 months lol) Thanks again.

  3. Hi

We are hoping to file for my green card near the end of the year. In the mean time just trying to get my head around the process. My husband is in America,  I am in UK, we have been married for 8 years. My husband did have ILR in UK, but went back home as his Mum has health issues, so he returned, while I stayed in UK..

So learning about the process, could someone let me know if I have the correct forms for what we need.

My husband files I-130, along with I-130A,

    When approved (hopefully)

I file with form  I-485, my husband fills in form I-864A  (does he send that to me , so I send that with my  I-485 form).

Then I fill in form I-693, for the medical.

Have I got everything in the correct order?

I know there are long waits in between filing, and waiting for Visa immigration numbers etc.

Would be very grateful for any help. thank you Sandy.

When filing the initial petition you use neither.  Several months later, he can use the I-864EZ if he qualifies by answering the first three questions on the form with an honest yes. If not, he will use the I-864.  When the time comes, HE would be wise to become an A student of the actual form instructions for affidavit of support.

NOW, he should become an A student of the I-130 instructions.  Time for study.  You'll never know which questions to ask until the form instruction AND forms themselves are STUDIED CAREFULLY.  None of us can do that FOR either of you.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I know he doesn't use that form  at the beginning, its just me looking way into the future, trying to get my head around all this. We will be studying the forms...thank youa gain.

  5. Hi Everyone, was hoping someone with more knowledge could help me. My husband and me will be filing beginning of Oct/Nov this year, so trying to get all info  regarding forms to use now. My understanding is, are we ok to use for I-864EZ, as my husband is a US citizen living there, ( I am in UK), he will be using his income to support/sponser me, and I am the only person coming to the US. Would that be correct to use that form, or do we use I-864A. Thank you for any help. Sandy

  6. Hello Everyone,

Have just found this site, so hoping I can possibly get a little info.  My American husband lives in america, I am British living in UK. We have been married for 7 yrs, (I got married in USA), but never lived there. My husband had his ILR for UK, but was so homesick, not settled here, so he went back to  USA. We have decided now that I will go and live  with him in USA. I know it is the spouse visa, and have read about, (just making initial inquires for now), but what I can t work out, is  how much is it to file, does my husband pay when he first files for me $535, then do I pay $535 too, then the payment  for the Visa Packet, and green card, so would that make it approx  $1300, would that be correct, or am I way off. Greatly appriciate any help, info etc. Also, if anyone  could give an approx  idea of how long the whole process would take. Thank you  for any help. Sandy
