Hi. I am from the Philippines who is currently on a student visa in Japan. I am planning on visiting my boyfriend (of three years) this August (summer break) for his birthday, hopefully for about three weeks. He's already visited me here in Japan last January, and it's my turn to visit. So my questions are:

1. Is it possible to get a US tourist visa when applying outside of your home country?

2. I know that a proof that you can support yourself while in the US is a requirement. However, I am a student with only a part-time job. My boyfriend offered to shoulder all the costs of my travel and I will be staying at his house. We don't really plan on sightseeing or traveling while I'm there as we are both not outdoorsy people (more like play video games and watch tv shows all day type). So food is really the only possible expense. So I guess my question is, how much money do I need in my bank account? Will it help if my boyfriend or family from the Philippines put money in my bank account first? Or will that hurt my application instead?

Any advice regarding the application is appreciated as well. Thanks so much!
