  1. It completely depends on each office. Some offices even do same day ceremonies. What I know is specific for Milwaukee.
  2. So glad you don’t have to wait!! I think the court house oaths are for name change and I suspect they only happen once a month. While I was waiting at his interview, I asked the security people if they had any idea how often they have the ceremonies. He said typically they have them every Wednesday. My husband is shortening his ridiculously long latin name (2 first names and 3 last. His parents also included his maternal grandmother’s last name). It unfortunately hasn’t made anything easy in the American system. We also learned that we can’t go to social security the same day to update his name. The SS website says you have to wait 10 days after naturalization, thus delaying passport application.
  3. It’s not really after everything we’ve been through. We were hoping it was going to be 2 weeks earlier just to see if we could get a passport by the end of the year. With the name change we read you have to wait 10 days to update social security, thus delaying a new drivers license and passport. A little disappointed to find out you can’t do it same/next day.
  4. Just got our notice today. It’s for September 14th. But he’s shortening his name so he has to do his oath at the courthouse. We aren’t sure if that really makes a difference.
