  1.  Hi Guys,

I have a question for the IR2 visa interview, does anyone know how many days I need to wait to get the applicant's passport delivered?

My son holds a Spain passport, but he resides in China with me, and the interview embassy is in Guangzhou China.

I need to travel to Guangzhou to complete the interview with him, but once his passport gets collected by the embassy.

We cannot go anywhere because he doesn't have any other ID to fly or take the train.

May I know how long it takes for the embassy to issue the IR2 visa?

    Thanks, everyone.

  2. Dear All,

I am a US citizen, and my naturalization date is April 23, 2019.

The funny thing is that my son was born overseas on April 17, 2019 (One Week before my naturalization date).

So he did not get US citizenship by birth, and I already filed an IR2 visa for him.

Everything went smoothly, and I am in the stage of submitting the I864 form for him.

I submitted I864 and I864A as the financial support documents, but the I864 documents were rejected.

The NVC sent me a message through the portal asking me to submit the I864w.

I believe the form of I 864w is a financial waiver, but I am not sure if my son is eligible for that.

Can anyone give me some guidance? Appreciate that!

If you live in a DCF country, you can do it in weeks instead of a year.

Thanks Mark! You really sounds like a pro, and I want to bother you with two more questions,

    a. do you know if I can expedite my i130 case if I file in a DCF country? I just want to bring my baby back to the States for better medical treatment.

    b. for a 2 month infant, does he need to be interviewed? just read tons of interview of IR1 kids, but they are all over a certain age.

    Regards.

You were not a USC at the time of the childs birth. Even if it is a couple days, you will have to go the immigrant visa route and let the child receive citizenship through the Child Citizhenship Act. You can find a detailed report about this process here:

Thanks Mark for sharing! It is good that you take the benefit of the CBP policy, but it looks they don't have it for citizen farther. I will file i130, but just don't know how to expedite the case. Regards.

As you already said, you needed to be a citizen at the time of the birth - you weren’t, so you could not transmit a citizenship you didn’t have. The good news is if/when the baby moves to the US on an immigrant visa to live with you in your physical and legal custody, at any time before age 18, s/he will automatically naturalize too.

Thanks for sharing Susie! I think I will apply I130 for my newborn from USCIS overseas office (Mexico City specifically). I know the procedure is filing the petition with USCIS, and they will transfer the case to national visa center once they approved your petition. Do you know how they will do afterwards? conduct an interview for my baby? Can I expedite the case since I really need to bring my pre mature baby back to the States?

  6. Dear All Friends,

I have a strange situation with CRBA application, and I want to try my luck and see if anyone has this kind of experience.

Me: US Citizen from April 23 2019 (pass the test on Feb, and did the oath on April 23)

My Girlfriend:  Mexican live in Mexico City

Our baby is born pre-mature on April 17 (2 months early than the due date), and I want to apply citizenship for my baby.

My concern is that the CRBA requires that one of parents has citizenship when the child is AT BIRTH.

for my case, my citizenship come six days later than the baby's birth date.

For the rest condition, I am sure that I meet all requirements

    Anyone has any ideas?

  7. I received my N400 interview notice in the middle of February, and the interview date is at the end February. At that day, I was with my spouse, and the officer greeted us and told us that we will have a combo interview. So first I did the N400 test alone, and it was easy. I passed the reading and writing test, and also answered six civil questions. The officer then informed me that he would start the I751 interview. I has been asked the questions such as my partner's schedule, his work experience and some details about our daily life. I also showed the officer our bills, lease, photos and etc. The officer took some notes when I answered those questions. Later on, the officer finished my interview and escorted me out of the office, and he asked me sit at the waiting room. He then brought my husband to the office, and asked the same questions to match answers. The whole experience is good, and the officer is nice enough to joke around with me.

Please note that THERE WILL BE COMBO INTERVIEW IN DTLA OFFICE.

On March 21(almost a month wait),  the system changed to "New card in production", and today it showed USPS will delivery your card in two days (with tracking number). I am happy, but also confused because someone say you will not get your 10 year green card after the combo interview. Anyone has any ideas?

    Thank you!
