Yes, we both got our Global entry card last month. Just use the name in her GC for global entry application. Once we did that the application went through. Hope this helps. Good luck

Awesome! That's great! So on the passport part, just enter her passport number but use the name that's on her GC then? Is that what I'm understanding? Congrats on also receiving it!

    Hello

"The name or date of birth entered on your U.S. Passport or Permanent Resident Card, does not match the Profile on this account." I am stuck here, did anyone figure out a work around for it?

    Thank you

    Jish

Did you ever figure this out? I'm in the same situation where my wife's passport has her maiden name but her gree card has my last name. How did you go by this since this is a 6 month old post?

  3. Its been years since ive been here. Back when I did the K1 Visa application. Now that my wife's Permanent residency card is about to expire in Novemeber, im seeking for help once again. She is renewing the 10yr card. We havent decided to apply for citizenship because her English is still not strong enough and the classes for English and immigration courses that she was taking were stopped by the pandemic.

So a few questions i need to know, what form(s) do I need to fill out for her? I see the form I-90:

Question #1: pg2, Section A where it asks Port of Entry 2.h.1.A. (enter city)....We live in Chicago, do we fill this out? I assume we check 2.f. "card will expire"

    Question#2: pg3, Part 3 Proccessing Information

    1. Location where you applied....my wife went to Juarez, Mexico. Is this the city or place that they ask?

    2. Location where your immigrant visa was issued of USCIS office...we had an interview in Chicago but I think i sent the forms to a Nebraska office before we had the interview.

thats all for now but any help is greatly appreciated!

  4. I'm not sure if this situation affects our case. My wife got her permanent residence last year and it will last 10yrs now. Like many of us, we signed an agreement that the immigrant will not be a public charge, such as food stamps etc.

My concern is my 3 yr old son was diagnosed with autism. We're taking him to therapy and he's improving. But the medical bills are piling up and my works insurance doesn't cover almost nothing of his therapy. So my question is can my son, a US citizen, can I apply for the medicaid card for him only because of his condition? And if so will this be a bad thing for my wife's residency, even if it's not directly for her?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. hit here. I was born in the US. But at work, we just got a memo stating that in January there will be a I-9 verification, which is the E-Verify, which is

Federal law requires that all employers verify the identity and employment eligibility of all new employees (including U.S. citizens) within three days of hire also it states "The law requires employers to properly complete and retain a Form I-9 for every current employee hired after November 6, 1986."

Now, the problem is the question that comes in mind is there are many people who have been working here for many years and some that I know are either here illegal or SS are not good. The I-9 form is for companies to comply that they are hiring people who are able to work in the U.S. but what if they find out that some, or many are not suppose to work.

    Anyone familiar with this?

  6. I'll try to be quick to explain. I have a friend, she's almost 60. She was born in Mexico, her mother an Italian and American father. When she was born, weeks after, they moved to the US. She was granted US Citizenship and her Mexican birth certificate was stamped by the US Immigration stating she's an US Citizen because of her parents.

Now she lost her US Passport. So in order to re-order one, as all people, you must prove you're an American. Her birth certicate is also lost, which she can get a new one in Mexico. Problem is, that original birth certificate with that stamp I mentioned earlier, won't be one it, meaning she can't prove that she's a citizen in order to get her US Passport again. So, I am now here to ask what can she do in order to help her.

I know this situation is rare but not uncommon. Any suggestions?

  7. My husband entered the U.S. in March with a K-3 visa. He had the visa medical exam done in Morocco before he left, and he never saw the actual form from the doctor - it was sent directly to the consulate in Casablanca. When he got his visa, the consulate gave him the "do-not-open" packet and they have since said that the medical form was in that packet. Of course, he didn't open it, and he gave it over to CBP officers in New York when he entered the U.S.

Now, we have been to our AOS interview and were approved, pending getting them a signed USCIS version of that medical form (our interviewing officer said that she didn't have any medical records in his file). But, my husband has spent two weeks going from doctor to doctor getting tests and shots and now they have told him that he still needs to have an HIV and TB test before the doctor will sign the USCIS form. He knows he had those tests in Morocco, and the doctor here has said that a faxed version of his visa medical exam form would be OK.

Where did that medical exam form go after he entered the U.S.? And how can I get ahold of someone just to fax a copy of it to our doctor???

Normally it goes to USCIS and is put together with your file when you submit the AOS. They lost it. It happens. We see it here often enough in posts. As with anything in theis process, it is YOUR problem and the medical exam will have to be repeated here by a Civil Surgeon unless they can find it.

If the clinic in Morroco kept anything you can call them directly, just as you did to set up the appointment

Worst case scenario, get a new medical exam and not waste time searching for a medical exam that probably has been lost. They charged me $250 chash only, and have those results faxed with all the information, (if possible) before your case gets denied for not having the medical exam.

  8. Long story short . On 2nd K1. AOS interview Dec 08. No letter in mail of approval..nothing. Even went up to Seattle to inquire 3 months ago, asking ####### is going on  Guy said "can't tell you anything". Drove all the way to Seattle for that response.!!??

Anways, this morning I'm sound asleep after working 3 12 hour shifts in a row. I hear a loud knock on the door, go out to answer half asleep. Get 2 badges in my face " Dept of Homeland Security. Can we come in?" I'm like "Am I under arrest" still half asleep.

They scoured my house. Looked in my hamper, my drawers, EVERYWHERE. Then said "Good, we have what we need". Needless to say, I couldn't sleep anymore

Just wanted to let you MENA Ladies know...they might do the same to you if you're on 2nd K-1 or K3...etc.... My hubby's from Syria btw....

I guess it's the best way to suprise a couple and to see if your marriage was "real" or not just by looking around the house and to see a couple's home and see the obious like pictures on the wall, dirty clothes on the basket, etc.

Don't worry, maybe it was what you needed to close your case and be approved. GOOD LUCK!

  9. We had our interview on 8/19, with no results from the officer  . Then we got a letter on 8/25 stating that we were approved and that we my wife should get her green card within 3 weeks, then Yesturday morning 8/28 we open the mail to find her Green Card has just arrived!

That was quick! A week and a half since the interview and with green card in hand! (and the first thing she did was apply for a job, now that my girl!)

  10. We had our interview on Wed, August 19th, with no results on the spot and told us to wait 2 weeks for an answer. Today, we got an NOA on the mail stating:

    Notice Type: Welcome Notice

    Section: Fiance(e) adjustment COA (CF1

Welcome to the United States of America!

This is to notify you that your application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States.

Man, they sure know how to welcome you. My wife shed some tears when I translated this to he :crying: r.

Thanks guys for all the support, this site is a life saver! :star:

  11. We sent in our AOS papers, received a NOA, and completed biometrics. Now that we're just waiting for the interview, I'm wondering about my wife's K-1 visa and I-94, which are set to expire next month. Is my wife now legally able to stay here in the US even after those docs expire? I just want to make sure we're doing everything correctly and not forgetting something. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes she is legal here now provided you have proof of AOS.

Relax, she's ok. Just get all of your documents together. Get that I-693 Medical done, it's expensive and there could be a setback do to that the US tests for tuberculosis as a skin test. My wife tested positive for TB but shown negative on the X-ray. do that test 2 weeks prior to the interview or do it soon as you can. They charged me $250, cash only, an another $170 for the Xray, but my insurance covers that but the the actual physical exam. Get your pictures gathered, bank joint accounts, anything that have both of your names together.

  12. Hi guys,

As the topic says, we're currently waiting for K1 to be approved. In the meantime, I thought we would get mentally prepared on what is needed for AOS.

The reason of it coming up so early is there have been MANY times during the K1 where I thought to myself "If only I knew I should have saved this" or "I wish I would have known I needed something like this for K1."

It's a good thing I have treasured everything between us and kept records of it diligently for sentimental reasons or we wouldn't have half the proof we have now for K1 interview later. However, being as it is, we have very little snail mail between us and I had thrown away the boxes of packages he sent me with his address and stuff since they were huge. If I had known differently, I would have cut out the top part of the box or something >.< We have sent very little in terms of regular snail mail, all of them were mainly huge packages with multiple things inside. And we rarely took snapshots or screenshots of our video calls because we didn't think to. Which left only xxx-rated snapshots that can't be shown. >.< If we had thought of it back then, would have had the presence of mind to remember snapshotting when we were both decent on cam!!!!

So my question is, if you had known back then what was needed in terms of proof for AOS, what would you have saved/done differently/started/jointed.

I know NOA2 for K1 needs to be kept for AOS. I think we will have a joint lease in our names. I have no idea how to get joint utility bills in our name. We will open a joint bank account. Get affidavits and such from his family and mine. I will be keeping a vaccination record (I started one a few months ago while waiting for K1 since I had ZERO records of any shots). I'll probably have my birth certificate translated professionally and keep multiple copies of it. I know not to open that mystery packet from the embassy after the K1 interview which is supposed to be shown at POE. I know to make sure I have an I-194 on my passport (some couple on VJ didn't have any). There will be wedding pictures of course but nothing fancy since it will be an elopement until we can afford something bigger next year. Since its not a big wedding there wont be any wedding invitations. I'll be changing my name later and using my married name for AOS. Still not sure if I should apply for SSN as soon as I land or do it after marriage cause I want my married name.

(Also on the topic. I'm confused how changing names work. If I wanna drop my maiden name which is 5 names long and just have my first name, his last name and a NEW middle name which I pick, can that be done by just putting the FIRSTNAME NEWMIDDLENAME HUSBANDLASTNAME in AOS paperwork or SSN?)

    Okay, I'm rambling. >.<

Is there anything else in terms of proof that I should get started with collecting now?

    Thanks in advance =)

One big advice: Try not to post questions this late at night. Well, if your not in the U.S., think of US hrs because there will be more people that can asnwer questions quicker.

As for AOS. It all takes time. Don't rush anything. Get your K-1 visa done first. Which is the base of everything that you will have to do. What I can say is you can have an idea of what to do once you arrive here. Get married ASAP! That's one thing you don't want to drag. Your name will show up in about a month so that the Social Security Office can find your name and give you your SSN. Once you get married, investigate how long will it take to get your marriage certificate. Buy 2 or 3 of them, you'll need that as evidence. Take pictures with the date showing, don't just take pictures of just the two of you, have family members shown so if they ask you "who are they" you'll asnwer that quickly, which is a plus for your interview.

Get a bank joint account(s), (you'll need a State ID and bring your marriage certificate) that way you're new name will show up. If your renting an apt or own a home, get those names together in the paper work. Planning having kids? Get his/her SSN and birth certificate. (which takes long to get but it will help at the end). Medical insurance, car, Life, anything that he will place you as the main beneficiary.

You'll be alright, believe me, there is LOTS of things to gather for the AOS/interview but they will only ask for a few things and the rest was just extra. But you'll never know what they'll ask for, so give yourselves time to gather everything. Good luck!

  13. Well, today we finally had our interview at 101 W Congress Prkw in Chicago. We got there a bit early so we waited outside the building until it was 30min for the interview (10am). We went through security check, and yes you are allowed with cell phones.

They gave us a device, like those they give at restaurants, the thing will vibrate when it's your turn to go in. We were at the waiting room at 940am, our thing went off at 9:55. The officer seemed nice at sight. First thing he said that if my wife spoke English, which was a NO, but he called another officer for a quick questions that were only for her.

    THings that he asked for:

    1. My birth Certificate

    2. Her birth certificate

    3. Our son's birth certificate

    4. Marriage certificate

    5. Wedding fotos (about 5)

    6. Were and how we met

    7. Medical form I-693

    8. He asked if we baptized our son, we said yes, and gave him a copy of that certificate.

    9. He asked her while the translator was there, what things does she like about me? Do I help with the dishes? Have she ever voted in the United States? (2 times), Did drugs, prostitution, or helped anyone to enter the US illegaly?

    10. Was our son in good health?

the officer was nice to us, it was a plus that I was well orgazied, everything that he asked for was given to him fast, no delay, no fumbling things because of our nervousness. As he was chekcing our paper work that we handed to him he kept saying in a low voice "good, very good, this is fine, Ok nice, "

    Then he says,

"Well, that's all I can do for you now. We'll let you know in 2 weeks of your results"

Then I said, "What should I tell her?"

He said, "We treat everyone the same, I never tell them the results because that's not up to me. Don't worry, because worrying does't help

    anyone. We'll let you know."

i think everything is going to be alright, I let you guys know when we get a response.

  14. I think there is no better evidence that our marriage is legitimate based on our 9 month son. But on NOA I-797C (interview letter) it states the following:

[ ] If your eligibility is based on a parent/child relationship and the child is a minor, the petitioning parent and the child must appear for the interview.

(then it says right under that said sentence)

NOTE: Every adult (over 18 yrs) who comes to the interview,....You do not need to bring your children unless otherwise instructed. Please be on time. We may record or videotape your interview.

SOoooo. That kind of contradicts itself. Although the interview is for us, I think we should bring our son. Correct?

  15. Just to update, We just got back from the Clinic and the xray results came out negative for TB. We had a small scare but we knew that it was going to be OK. The only thing that worried me was the time to have the results in and they were talking about tuesday or wednesday, which was impossible because our interview is on wednesday the 19th! So we couldnt wait lilke they said it would take.

    Thanks for the support

  16. Here's my situation. We left to Mexico on August 10th. On the 11h, I get a call from my sister that a letter from immigration came and that we have an interview on 8/19. So we got back from Mexico on the Sunday the 9th. So I was looking for an office that handles immigration health checks. I called Tuesday, they said no doctor on Wed, but on Thursday yes. So we go on Thursday, my wife got her shots, and said to come back on Saturday (today) to see if her arm had any reaction or rash. They told her not to touch it nor scratch it. I guess my wife scratch it during her sleep unconsciously.

So they saw a small little bump on her arm, for the nurses it tested positive for tuberculosis. So my wife is crying, and they send us to a hop ital for an chest x-ray. She has no coughing, no chest pain, etc. So now they said that they will review the results by Monday or Tuesday.

So what happens next??? It's a race against time and the interview is on Wed, the 19th at 10am. I'm going to try to call and have the doctors from the office and the hospital to communicate fast to have our results quick. Nurses said that its only because she scratch herself but they have to do all testing to cover themselves, to be safe than sorry.

Any of you had a similar positive test that resulted OK when the X-rays came in? Any suggestions?

  17. 3 questions.

    (1) My wife, as a k-1 visa she entered last year, we are not required to submit or bring that form to the interview on 8/19, correct?

    (2) While we were on vacation in Mexico, using her AP, she took her book of vaccinations that she has been given since birth. She went to a clinic and she only missing 1 shot. Should we take that book of vaccinations, and if yes, should it be translated in English just in case they ask for any medical questions? (contradicts question 1)

    (3) I know that I have to go to the interview along with our son, I can translate for her or will she need a separate translator with her in case or if and when they separate us during the interview?

Any tips of suggestions and last minute tips are greatly appreciated! Wish us luck!

  18. We're about to leave on vacation and my wife will use her AP, which she has 2 documents. Before we leave, I just want to quickly know what else I or she should take in order to avoid any crazy delays or even denial.

    (2) AP lettters

    Mexican Passport

    State I.D.

    EAD card.

    Even our marriage certificate.

Anything else that we're missing or can you recommend anything else?

  19. My wife's case has been smooth. She got her EAD card and her AP in the mail. According to the letter it said she was approved on April 17th. It's been over 40 days and we still have not had any further information about her Green Card. I've been looking at some timelines and ususally its about 30 days or so to get a respond but I've seen some timelines with 6 month wait. Should I call and find out because I can't track the case online, it was all processed by mail.

Hopefully there no interview like some cases!
