  1. Hello all,

After the longest day of my life of crying, praying and swearing... Mark called this afternoon of being all day at the embassy in Managua saying he got the visa! wOOOhOoo! They put us through more scare and frustration to the very last step! Anyway, he's finally got it. He can pick it up next Wednesday.

THANK GOD! thanks everyone for your advice and support!

I need to book a flight and was going to make it next Friday, 2 days after they said he could pick it up, since it's Nicaragua and who knows what might happen! Is it necessary to book a roundtrip or doesn't it matter if it's a one-way? Any advice? If it's an e-ticket, do I just put it under his name, does he need to have a credit card or anything? He doesn't have one! Does it matter where he enters or are all POE the same?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks all, good luck!

  2. We´re planing to go to the k1 visa interview on january 2nd, I´m really nervous... Please share me experiences and all the recommendations are welcome :help:

Our interview is the same day! ahhhh, we are so nervous and hope it's a quick one! I'll say a prayer for you guys too! Are you going down for the interview? I can't. I hope to book a flight a week later for him to come up, hoping everything goes well. Keep me in touch!

  3. If you are doing K-1, then why post this to the DCF forum?

Consulates will move appointments to a later date, not a sooner date, their calendars tend to be booked.

Its in the K-1 forum now.

I agree, it isn't likely they will move the date forward

Thanks, Jasman for moving me! I'm so sorry YuAndDan for the big inconvenience of the wrong post.

  4. My fiance found out on Friday when our interview would be... not until January 2nd! AHHHH. We were really hoping to have him here by Christmas and thought it was possible, since some dates from Nicaragua were within 2 weeks of the interview. Anyone have advice for moving up the date or had success? Should I write the consulate in Managua or contact my congress person? Thanks. Keep the faith on your journey!

I found the best song ever for people who have loves far away... Never So Far by Greg Brown. check it out!

  5. After reviewing our I-129 forms, I realized I screwed up on my fiance's address in Nicaragua. I looked over everything a bunch of times, but I had someone review it and they wrote over my G-325 and at last minute had to do another before I sent it. I was so excited just to send it finally. On the first page his address is wrong, but they ask for it again on the 2nd page and that is right. STUPID MISTAKE, I know.

Do I send a letter with corrections, try calling, or just wait and hope I don't get an RFE on it? AHHHH, I don't know what to do. It's been a little over a month since we got our NOA1. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

  6. Oh, friends-

This is sooo frustrating and we just officially started the process! ahhhh. I sent ours April 30th and keep comparing our dates with everyone else's. Some peope get a NOA1 fast and yet we all are waiting. Yesterday was my fiance's birthday so I was hoping we would get good news, no such luck.

Let's hope CA starts getting their stuff together and go fast!

    Just breathe!

  7. Hello all,

I'm sending our application tomorrow (HOPEFULLY) to Nebraska (then they'll forward it to CA). Do you recommend to send it FedEX or USPS express mail? If I use Fed Ex I use the private courier zipcode (which is diffferent from the other), right? Stupid question, but I'm just making sure! I'm sooo nervous and excited to finally get to this step!

Then I request a return receipt and that is what I'll use for tracking?

Can I copy the G-325a form for me and then sign each page with my original signature? (I used the carbon copy but it didn't go through well.)

I'm buying a place ticket tonight to visit my love in a few months! woohoo.

    Thanks, Kristen

  8. My wife picked up her Instruction Packet yesterday at the Managua Consulate. Apparently, there are problems with the Nicaraguan Mail Service (Correos de Nicaragua). Our case was received on March 28th and they sent the packet on April 3rd. We wanted to wait until the end of this week for the packet to arrive at first, since Holy Week usually delays everything in Nicaragua. But after my wife ran into a friend whose one of her parents went thru a IR 1 process recently, she went to the Embassy to get the Instrucctions herself. According to my wife´s friend, her father waited about 3 weeks for the delivery of the Packet. He contacted the Consulate and was told to come in and pick up the paperwork instead. They were never delivered actually. And this is in Managua. So, if anyone has a beneficiary living or with an address other than Managua, don´t wait for the Instructions Packet to arrive. After finding out that the case has been received by the Consulate, pick them up as soon as possible. The staff at the Consulate are aware of the innefective service by Correos de Nicaragua, they even suggest the beneficiaries to pick the paperwork. They are open from 7:30 am - 11:00 am, Monday - Friday, except Thursdays.

When our case was received by the Consulate I contact them via e-mail and was told that if my wife wanted she could pick the instructions packet.

Write to Blanca R Perez at PerezBR@state.gov as soon as they get your case. Use always your case number when contacting them.

According to my wife, everything went fine and smooth yesterday. After passing all Security Checks, she was directed to a room where they deal with Inmigrant Visas and other Consular Issues. She waited for about half an hour since there were others beneficiaries and couples waiting for interviews or to inquire on their cases.

Blanca Perez was very helpful, my wife says, she went thru the checklist and highligted everything my wife needs to gather before the interview.

After she gets all the required documents and the medical exams, she needs to fax the checklist page to the consulate. Consulate then sends a notification by mail, (Correos de Nicaragua) with the date of the interview.

BUT DON´T LET THE CONSULATE SEND THIS NOTICE BY MAIL. MY WIFE WAS ADVICED TO ASK THE CONSULATE TO CONTACT HER BY TELEPHONE ABOUT THE INTERVIEW DATE. LET THEM KNOW BY FAX OR BY CALLIN THEM.

AND THIS IS THE BEST PART PEOPLE, ACCORDING TO BLANCA, THE INTERVIEW DATE IS GIVEN IN 8 DAYS.

THIS IS GREAT FOR US, BECAUSE MY WIFE HAS TOLD ME SHE CAN GATHER EVERYTHING BY NEXT FRIDAY. SO WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AN INTERVIEW DATE MORE OR LESS AT THE END OF APRIL OR THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY. AMAZING! THIS HAS OVERTAKEN ME ALREADY. DIDN´T EXPECT TO HAPPEN THIS SOON.

    -Justo.

PS: For those doing CR 1 or IR 1 Visas, you do not need to submit any additional info regarding the Affidavit of Support 1-864. This has already been processed and accepted at NVC, so the Consulate will not deal with it, unless is a K Visa at issue.

CONGRATULATIONS! That's wonderful! Thanks for the advice- Mark lives on the coast in Bluefields and the mail system there is EVEN WORSE! Good news is, I got his documents from DHL on Friday! Only took 4 days but was expensive! Hopefully she'll be here soon. Good luck.

  9. Hmmmmmmm. I can't offer you any assistance either (truly sorry..would help if I could) but just one question...the way these fishing co. work out on the ocean etc....and I see you're in WI like me and not Alaska or something...you are often gone weeks at a time,etc.....would you really see each other much more than you would if he remained in his country? Just asking, not criticising.... good luck with your journey whatever you decide to do... M.

Thanks for responding guys! So, we aren't thinking about that anymore- I was against it right away (him at sea and me working and only seeing each other a little bit at a time). But it would have helped us financially- we'll be struggling! He sent his papers today DHL and we are praying they will get here!

  10. So, after telling my love how long it would probably take (we are still waiting on papers from Nicaragua to get here to send it in)... we are sad and frustrated. He could possibly get a work visa from a fishing company in the states and be here sooner. We made up our minds a while ago that we would just file the fiance visa and wait. But I've been back in the states for a year and 3 months and we don't want to wait another 8 months before we can see each other. (He got denied a tourist visa) I went back to visit once and was thinking about it again this summer. It's so hard (I know you all understand) and we are impatient! We keep trying to be patient but it sucks.

So, my question is: after we file the I-129F, would it cause problems if he was working in the states (on the ocean) for a few months? He knows some people in the states that have a fishing company and they would hire him. But if this is going to mess up the process, we won't even consider it. Am I making any sense? AHHH, why is everything so hard?

    :crying:

I'm worried that if he worked here it would complicate things, but maybe he would get a social security number and stuff faster since he would be working?

  11. My husband's Adjustment of Status was approved April 4th, After an interview April 2nd in San Francisco....they made a couple of mistakes a) telling my husband he'd committed a bunch of crimes (that had actually been committed by someone with the same name as him) and B) telling us our co-sponsor needed to be a US Citizen (wrong again)...

So, after mailing us a document saying we had to submit more evidence, we ended up just getting an approval letter before we even responded to the document they sent...crazy...

    Sooooo disorganized...

But anyway, we fly back to Belize May 25th-June 11th on vacation as my sister-in-law in graduating from nursing school :) We're finally that we are ALMOST through this crazy journey...2 more yrs to lift conditions and then Steven's going to apply for citizenship after 3 yrs...and hopefully by then we'll have another little US citizen on the way :) ....first our timeline was for this dang visa and now we're thinking about a little baby :) We've really been able to get our stuff together here in San Francisco and save $$$--Steven got his work permit and started a job a couple days later so we've really been lucky...couldn't have done it without VJ!!!!

HOORAY girl! sooo exciting. you get to go back!? awesome. take me with you and then i'll dance some punta with you guys and then go get my man in Nica! how is he liking his job?

  12. hey friends!

ok, more questions, we are getting closer to sending it! woohoo!

    1) I might be moving to a different apartment 3-4 months, should I just use my mom and dad's address?

My fiance's address (Central American) is in Spanish, it's ok to keep that in Spanish, right? He is using his boss' address to get stuff- because he travels a lot- is this ok?

    2) The fasteners to use to file- the metal ring binders? or the gold/silver fasteners?

    3) I've talked to some people and they advised that I contact my local senator... I don't understand what they would do to help? Does anyone recommend this?

THANK YOU! good luck everyone. SHINE ON!

  13. Good question, like hearing others responses! We were talking about that last night

By the way, what part of Belize is he from? I lived on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua for a few years and when we traveled back by land (chicken buses and random adventures) we went to Dangriga, Belize. I wish my honey could have traveled back that far, he would have felt like HOME! man, I LOVE that coconut rice and beans and fresh coco bread! AYE, getting homesick again. It was awesome because the Creole people of Bluefields and the coast are very similar to the Belize people. My love has some Garifuna blood in him too. Do you like to punta? Girl, I would come to your dance hall!

Anyway, yes we plan on going back to Nica in 4-5 years too. We want him to have the opportunity to get to know the culture, where i'm coming from and to meet all my family and friends. And it would be nice to have him making better money, he's a panguero down there and working hard and not much money at all. This whole transition thing is going to be so hard on him, I don't think he's going to adjust well. And we'll have to move someplace warmer, Wisconsin would kill him! We want to have kids here and then go back there. I would prefer the lifestyle and simplicity there and want my kids to know that. I love being so close to the earth and walking to the markets daily, I love playing in the mud and planting and cutting open fresh coconut with my machete. But then the struggle of my family and friends all here and my parents not being able to see their grandchildren and i'm soo close to my family...

this crazy thing they call love, my friends. lots of road blocks and jumping through hoops just to get them here... aye. stay strong. this is such a great support system, others try to understand but really have no idea! we do! and it will make our love stronger and better because we had to work so hard to get it!

  14. WOW, thanks everyone for sharing your words of wisdom! It's greatly appreciated. Anyone know how do I send documents I need him to sign? For the G-325A, I guess I need his signature... but the mail system in Nicaragua on the Atlantic coast is HORRID. As in, they open stuff and it never gets there. I'm a little worried about this!

THANKS again and have a great day. Peace.

  15. Hey friends,

My friend Phoebe told me about this site and I'm excited. I need all the help I can get. Lots of crying and being stressed out lately! I'm filing it myself but it seems that everyone's been telling me to get a lawyer, which I can't afford.

    Does anyone know:

    1) Where should documents be translated? Does it need to be special places?

    2) How should I present my "evidence" of having proof of meeting within 2 years (emails, photos...) And how much stuff should I be printing off, old letters and such?

    3) Does the I-129 need to be typed or could we just use black pen?

    4) Can we visit Nicaragua after we are married, or is there a waiting time that he can't go back into the country?

Thanks so much. BE STRONG. keep the faith. peace!
