  1. My husband and I moved to Hawai’i from Washington 4 months ago. We sent an address change request to USCIS 10days before we moved to Hawai’i but I just got email from them saying “no one came to the interview and this will significantly affect your case” we even called them and told them that we want to have an interview here in Hawai’i and the guy who we talked said I’ll send a request and send your notice. We tried to call them to confirm in five different times but they never picked up. What should I do next?your case.

With regards to AOS, there is no expiration date on the overseas medical if filed within 1 year of the date of the medical. That means if you file for AOS before the medical is 1 year old, you don't need a new one. It doesn't matter when your interview takes place, it only matters when you filed.

The medical done within the US has a 2 year validity, if I'm not mistaken. The overseas medical doesn't have an expiration date for AOS purposes (if filed within 1 year).

Now, it does happen from time to time that an immigration officer doesn't know the rules himself, and wrongfully asks for a new medical. It doesn't seem to happen often though.

Okay got it. Thank you so much! Helps a lot!!

  3. Hi there,

I have a question that’s bugging me. I showed my medical forms to the US embassy in Japan, and we think that we also sent copies with the I-485 form, however the medical exam doc is set to expire in October, 2020 and I worry with the slowdown due to COVID-19 that my medical documents will expire before I will have my interview.

Should I have another medical examination done or am I ok?

    Thanks!
