  1. On the consulate website - my case is showing as having an interview on Tuesday ...

However - I have yet to receive a letter.

I have every intention of going but I'm curious if anyone knows how I can get the letter.

Before anyone suggests calling the consulate, I should point out that I have attempted to contact them about 1 billion times, and have yet to actually get anything but a busy signal.

    Any thoughts?

  2. We finally got the interview date, which is great, but there are a lot of problems with this -

First problem is that the letter was supposedly drafted on December 15th but not mailed until December 21 (post mark) and as such I didnt get it until very recently, which leaves me with very little time since it is scheduled for January 14th.

Now the main problem comes from the fact that my wife has hurt her back and is having trouble moving about. She should be fine but the notion of her being able to get up and walking is more then just a little daunting and not very likely.

And adding to the woes is that we just changed addresses. Sooooo what to do?

  3. I recently filed my visa application for a k-3 visa and yes I know all about the CR-1 /CR-2 type visas. Anyway... I filed the k-3 visa and I was expecting to get back a request to follow up with a I-129f. Instead what I got back is looking like the CR-1.

Now... heres my concern - is this for a k-3? How can I tell? What should I look for?

I specifically chose the K-3 for a handful of reasons that did not include wanting to go through the paperwork for the CR-1. No my wife does not intend to work when she arrives here.

Now if it is for the CR-1 this gives me another problem since I submitted G-325's for her and her daughter and this looks like it is only for her, if it is not for a k-3 then I need to file a new i-130 for her daughter as well dont i?

I attempted to contact the USCIS but that number seems like a giant run around and I could not for the life of me get to talk to someone. Will I have to make an Infopass appt to talk to someone alive?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  4. Just a few questions about the ir-1 / cr-1

For my wife's daughter who is only 5, we would, it seems file another i-130 for her as well? Is that correct?

Would we list for her the same as an IR-1? Since I have no direct relationship to her, how can I be her petitioner? What would I list?

Is it an Ir-1 for her as well? what is an ir-1 / cr-1? on the g325a it asks which its being filed for, so i'm not sure how I would list that.

    In a related question -

    What about vaccinations ?

Whats the cost of the medical exam? and is it more extensive then the k-1 visa one?

Is the Ir-1 / cr-1 visa granted there at the consulate or will they need to return home to Mexico City to wait?

Thanks for any help, I'm trying to be prepared for all contingencies that might come up with the visa process.

  5. Okay, so a while back I got a k-1 visa. And we screwed up. We didnt realize that when my wife left the country to return for her studies she would null her visa and we would basically have to start fresh with a k-3 visa.

So back to the beginning and here we go again.

    I have a couple of questions -

My wife's passport still has her original maiden name so when I file the paperwork I intend to keep it listed as such rather then have it listed with her new name. I do not foresee this being a problem our intention is to do all the new stuff here in the states.

She has been here before on a k-1 visa and returned to Mexico, but now that we have to begin filing anew I am hoping that we will not have any major problems because of this. Our intentions were correct but we admittedly screwed up. We did not file a change of status before she left and this was our mistake.

Now because I am moving I went to begin the filing but I was wondering if I could use a different mailing address, or if this would cause problems. The last thing I really want to do is for my NOA's to show up at my old address and to be lost in the mail.

Any help in finding the answers to this question would be appreciated.

  6. Me and my fiance and our daughter are here in Juarez now.

So far everything is going good. Thankfully I set aside about a week and a half to get all of this worked out.

The one question that I have right now is whether or not the visa interview fee that we have to pay at banamex is poor passport or per application?

Do I have to pay 260$ or the $131 ?

The visa is a K-1 visa with a k-2 visa for our daughter.

The letter that was sent along didn't make it very clear though, just said that a fee needed to be paid.

    Thanks in advance.

If anyone has any questions about Juarez and such let me know please and I would be more then happy to relate my experiences and answer any questions.

  8. hello - anyone recently back from Cuidad Juarez, I need to ask some questions about the airport.

I am meeting my fiance on Wednesday to go to the Consulate. We put aside about a week and a half for the whole process, which is hopefully enough.

The problem though is that I am flying into El Paso airport and then hopping it over to Ciudad Juarez Airport, she is herself flying from Mexico City into Ciudad Juarez.. I arrive in El Paso about 2 hours earlier then she does but I am not sure where to meet her in the airport. We have agreed that she should stay in the airport. In US airports the baggage claim is always after the secured area exit, but I've noticed that in Mexico it is a bit different. First you get the baggage then you leave the secured area.

So is there a good meeting place? What is the layout of the airport? We had though we would meet at the ticketing counters for the airline she is flying in on.

Bleh I'm super nervous about all of this.

  9. My fiance doesn't have his passport yet. How long does it take to get issued in Mexico, and what is the cost?

It does not take long to get the Passport in mexico. If you are in Mexico City you will need to make an appointment at the local delegacion, depending on which one you are near. Though Venustiano Carranza seemed to be taking walk ins about a month ago when we went and got my fiance's.

You really need your birth certificate and your 'credencial de elector' (?)

If you need to get one for a child, s/he will need to get a medical exam as well.

Basically it was a lot of running around and getting this formed copied, and that form copied and taking a reciept over to the local Banamex to pay it and then taking that reciept back to the Delegation to get it affirmed.

  11. Some consulates do P3 P4 and others simply combine P3 and P4 and just tell you to bring everything to the interview.

Well thats comforting to know. So it seems its now entirely in our hands. Boy this is stressful.

My real concern is my fiancee's daughter, and the length of time. I guess its required that she come with to get her medical examination?

  12. I recieved the notice from the consulate in Cuidad Juarez telling us what papers to gather. All of this I had expected , but then came the shocker.

It did not tell us to send the papers back, it simply told us to gather the papers and then appear at the Consulate in Cuidad Juarez, we did not get a date or an appointment or anything. It said that we could appear at any point for the K-1 Visa and be interviewed.

I was a little dumbstruck by it, since everything I had read up to that point was that we needed to send everything to get an interview date, but it seems that this is not the case.

So now we are at the point in time where we basically have everything together, and are planning our trip to Cuidad Juarez. I have all the required information.

The other question that I have is whether or not its vital that her daughter come with. From what I can gather from the letter she does indeed need to attend so that she can get her medical examination 4 days prior to us trying to get in at the interview.

We are planning on a week and half stay in Cuidad Juarez at the moment.

I hope that is enough time.

  13. That's a really important detail. To the OP, if you find a way to have a non-binding ceremony in Mexico without a civil ceremony, please post it. I'll do it tomorrow if there's a way!!!

I've had conflicting reports on this part, my fiancee is checking with her church today. So one way or another we should know. According to my sister its possible since on of my nephews got married only by the church and did not do a civil ceremony. However the first church we went to said no, the second one though said they would but the woman wasnt 100% certain so my fiancee is supposed to call back today.

If not then my next course is to simply get married down there legally and do the spouse visa instead.

Either way right now its nerve wracking, if we can get the reception hall and the church then we're golden. Either way I will let you know what we found out today.

  14. So as I get ready to send out my i129f and the rest of the first part of this process for my fiancee in Mexico. I have to ask if my overall plan is really the best one to go with.

Essentially what I had though was that though we are attempting to get the fiancee visa, we really would like to have the ceremony in mexico. That is where my family is and where her family is. But to do this we obviously have get married in Mexico by the church but to have the civil wedding here in the United States.

So far we havent run into any problems, but right now I'm very nervous about the whole experience. I do not really want to do something to mess it up and screw it up some how. So I am just seeking a bit of advice.

    Thank You.

Also... the only place for the interview is Cuidad Juarez? There do not grant interviews in the American Embassy in Mexico City?

    Thank you in advance.
