  1. At the moment I have an I-130 package ready for only one relative, but I am also thinking about filing for relative 2 in near future.

The question on the form asks, "If you are also submitting separate petitions for other relatives, provide the names of and your relationship to each relative."

Should I put the relative 2 on part 5 of I-130 who I may file in future, or do i need to list only relatives that I am filing with this package only.

  2. I realize this question might have been asked many time but I have few questions regarding AOS package.

    1. For concurrent filing can I put 130/485/ead/ap in same package or different packages within same package?

    2. Should I send Separate checks for 485 filing + biometric(one for $1140 , one for $85)  or one check of $1225?

    3. Do we still need to submit biographic g325 form for I-130 or no?

    4. I am filing for mother, do I have a choice in selecting USCIS field office for AOS as reflected in the question 61a on page 8.

Anyone have cover letter for parents AOS from B2 can you please share?

Processing time is the same as a spousal visa, more than a year.  If she stays and you file for adjustment of status she won't be able to work or travel out of the US for a period of 6-8 months while waiting for EAD/AP.  If you file I-130 for her and she goes back home before January and waits the rest of the time in her home country she will interview abroad and once she immigrates she will be able to work and travel immediately.  So it depends on whether she works or not, whether she needs to go home before the 6-8 month period while waiting for EAD/AP if you choose AOS in the US, if she has affairs to take care of in her home country, a job back home, family matters to wrap up, etc.  And as others have said either way you will need sufficient income to sponsor her or find a co-sponsor and either way she will need a medical examination.  Good luck!

Thank you, my mother  can wait for AOS :) It would be my pleasure to take care of the rest :)

Yes you can file both together. They dont have to leave or extend visa.  You need to complete and file forms i-130, i-485, i-131, 1-765, i-693. i-131 and i-765 are optional if she want to work and if she need to leave before AOS is approved. Processing times is long something like a year +.

    Thank you very much.

Is there any interview for Green Card for parents?

Does processing time depend on Local USCIS office or from central location like vermont or california?

  5. Hello All,

I want to sponsor my mother age 62 for permanent residence. I am us citizen. Kindly please advise what is the process for filing. She just arrived in USA on visitor visa. The stamp is valid till January.

I would really appricate if someone Please advise me about cover letter list of documents, etc.  If anyone is keeping a thread about processing times, etc, please share.

Can I file both 130 and 485 togather? Does she have to go back, or does she have to apply for extension on visitor visa?

    Regards,

    Jo

  6. I applied online today and my case status is showing that notice is mailed, but I didn't see any email.  Did anyone have similar issue?

when I go to online profile, in don't see anything in inbox either.

Also, notice in online profile doesn't have email field, even though I assume that it's same email as the one I am using for login in USCIS.

Under the five year rule you need only a handful of things, including a copy of the green card, certified copies of arrest and conviction records, a document indicating your current marital status, and for the most part that's about it.

Under the three year rule you need all of the above plus you have to prove a good faith marriage to your US citizen spouse, so car leases, mortgages, loans, tax returns, maybe some photos, bills, etc.

When I filed under the five year rule I just had my green card copy, Selective Service letter, death certificate of my wife, and a letter from law enforcement when I had been briefly detained once. No other documents were requested or required.

Thanks, I am under five year rule. that makes me relieved :)

  8. I am reading the N-400 instructions document, and it says on page 10 that list the documents to submit with form N-400.

    Copy of PR card,

    Copy of Current Marital status

    Confused if that's it?

I am reading lot of posts here discussing  supporting documents such as tax return, travel history, etc. These documents are listed as documents to bring with at the time of N-400 interview.

I am wondering if everyone submit documents along with N-400 application proactively or wait till interview to take these documents.

    Please guide :)
