I appreciate your help! Thank you so much did they schedule your Ceremony? one last thing is you applying based on Marriage thanks!

No problem. I am glad to return the favor this forum had given me.

In Seattle, it is apparently common to have same day ceremony if the interview time is early enough.

The IO asked me if I was interested in the same day ceremony...man, did I quick to respond.

I heard the IO said something about 90 people to capacity in the ceremony per day M-Th.

My wife sponsored me and I applied for naturalization after my gc was almost expired (10 years).

Congrats! Can you please share your interview experience? Questions they asked you? What docs wanted from you ? are you applying based on 5 or 3 years? Thanks!

It was surprisingly quick and straightforward.  They kept the appointment really tight.  My appt was at 8am and only a minute or two off the mark I got called in.

Walked through a long hallway and I used this chance to calm myself with casual small talk.  The IO was courteous but focus.

We got in to his office, stood and took oath and sat down.  He then explained the plan for me, i.e., he was going to do the civic, english test, then proceed with the application.

Civic test was as expected, passed the first 6 so we stopped.  English test was simple.

He then loaded my application and ask questions to confirm and/or to get assurances from me.  I asked the IO that I no longer wanted a name change and he obliged by changing the application.

I made several minute errors on the application and he helped correct them for me.

Overall, it took only 15 minutes, in and out.

One last thing - like has been said many times - be truthful.  They have all the information about you (and spouse).  They even have visibility to your tax information! (I think).

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your timeline and Congratulations! I am planning to go on vacation while waiting for my interview. I will probably just go ahead because of the wait time.

Hi. I would strongly recommend you to check the N400 processing time per your location.  I went to Indonesia for a month in August 2018 knowing that USCIS was still processing the applications from 6 months ago.  Though I find it not very accurate but at least it is something.  Check out: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/.

    Good luck!

  4. I filed N400 online and don't quite remember, tbh.  But I do have a printed version I downloaded from the USCIS website after submission, and I can see, in my case, all checked as NO.

I don't remember if I was presented the question.  I would think that the form is probably smart enough to evaluate when you became LPR and your age based on your birthdate, and answer these questions for you.

    Good luck!

Yes, they can. In fact, I think they will double check with you anyway.

In my interview, my form indicated no name change. She asked me again to confirm or if I changed my minds. I said no.

Yup, just had the interview this morning and I asked the IO to change my selection.. Just like that..done!

Had the oath ceremony the same day, now I am officially USC!  Thanks man.

Can we travel outside the country while waiting for interview letter. Did my FP in Feb. Have to travel to India for 2 weeks in Apr. Just curious if anyone travelled?

As long as your greencard is still valid, it is not a concern.  Timing, tho, depending on the processing office.  I am a Jan 2018 filer and went to Indonesia August 2018 for 1 month (gc expired in Oct 2018).  It was 7 months in the process.  Since Seattle office is backlogged, I wasn't too worried.

  7. What to bring to the interview?  It seems like there is no consensus since everybody has different case.

In my case, I applied for naturalization after fully riding my gc to the final year (10 years) and have been married for 14 years, and I am bringing in:

    1. my current and old passports.

    2. wife's naturalization cert.

    3. kids' birth cert.

    4. taxes last 3 years transcripts.

    5. GC

    6. marriage cert.

    7. wife's and kids' passports.

Do I still need to bring in pictures and all?  What else do I need?

Also, my interview is scheduled at 8am, is it normal to be scheduled that early knowing that the USCIS office won't open until 8am?

    Thanks!
