I, unfortunately, agree with Ontarkie. For one, he can't do anything about your immigration status. However, in terms of keeping you safe, there are a few things you can/need to do:

    1. Plan your exit strategy: Can you stay with someone? Do you have friends? Do you have the financial resources/employment to find an apartment for yourself and make the downpayment (for which you would need a credit history, or someone willing to give you a place to stay).

    2. You guys are married. Is your home a joint property? Are you renting? If he threatens you again, call the police and have him removed plus retraining order.

    3. You know what he is capable of and that should direct your options.

    4. Secure important documents or copies of: Your passport, your greencard, pay stubs/W2, copies of your tax filings. If you have children, think of their documents (birth certificates, passports etc), too.

    5. Depending on how much time you have to leave, set up a financial cushion to start a new life. Start having your own account if not already in place.

Depending on how violent he is, the art of deception is key until you are out and I would also advise you to not change patterns of your behavior until you are safe.

I believe that threatening to use violence and intimidation is beyond fixable and marriage counselling.

Thank you so much! I will start planning.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! You may want to move out, convince him he need to change or will lead him, and start living a separate life from him. Maybe once he realizes his power tripping has no legs to stand on, he will come back to his senses.

What you both need is marriage and relationship counseling to determine if the marriage is viable, nothing to do with immigration. I hope whatever the issue is, you both get it resolved and reach a happy place in your marriage.

Once again there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING he can do to “kick you out”. You’re neither a football 🏈 nor soccer ️ ball to be kicked anywhere.

    Thank you!
he keeps saying he knows people from immigration and will do everything for not let me stay in the country. He treatened to beat me and make my life difficult. I am scared to take steps.

  3.

I’ve been suffering in abusive marriage now some time. It didn’t start from beginning. It’s been bad past year I would say.

My husband is threatening me and telling me I cant stay in a country if we are not together anymore.
I have a 10 year greencard. Is there something he can still do to kick me out of the country?
if this is a wrong forum please tell me where to go discuss about this. Thank you.

  4. I FINALLY got my greencard. After few years! Now it is time to go visit my home country.

Question: My creencard is my married name. New last name.

My passport is my family name, old last name. I assume I book the tickets the name on my passport but am I going to have problems coming back to the Usa when greencard and passport lastname dont match lol.

I would think I’m not only one with this so how people usually do?

    thank you!!

  5. Hey,

I renewed my EAD about 180 days ago. Still nothing. I know after EAD card expired I can continue working 180 days. Now those days are past too.

question: I work for myself, business, social media etc. Can I continue still since I’m not working FOR someone. Or does all kind of money making stop until I get my new Ead card or greencard.

    thank you:)

Hi @Blajje, I'm back to VJ for ROC now. But I heard some people who are doing AOS are asked the I-693 and get the medical exam in the US even when they got it in their home country and file AOS within 1 year. It seems they want to make sure you got the covid vaccine as the new requirement for green card. I have nothing to add beside, if you're in SF Bay Area and need someone to talk to, I'm all ears. Moving to a new country can be challenging. When I visited my home country using EAD/AP, I felt like a stranger there but I also felt I didn't really belong here either. It gets better over time. Hang in there!

Oh really! That is dumb. I can rather send my covid vaccine card if they want to see that.
I really dont want to pay new medical exam I’m trying to see if I can somehow skip that since it’s already been done.

    thank you<3

Hi there. Go to the website that I included to find a local doctor in your area. Make sure to download the most recent I-693 version and follow the instructions. It is better for you to download the most recent version and fill it out to avoid any mistakes by your chosen Civil US Surgeon using outdated forms. They will usually give you an option whether to use their own forms or yours. I took my own pre-filled most recent form. The US Civil Surgeon will then conduct your medical.

I did mine in June 2021 in Reno and it cost me $450. Not all vaccinations are age-appropriate. Below was a screenshot of my vaccination record back in June. Note that the I693 requirements changed to include COVID and since you are doing your medical now, flu shot is required.

Technically, as long as you filed AOS within 1 years of the medical overseas, you don’t need another medical. However, this is at the discretion of USCIS. There were cases where they requested another medical. The best and easiest thing to do is to find a USCIS designated civil surgeon and complete another medical.

so I should maybe do it then. Even it feels that they are doing us wrong.

How much is the medical exam in The States? I remember in Sweden it was a lot :(

    Hi!

Don’t give up! You are almost to the finish line. I hope you will be approved soon.

It is most likely because 2 years have passed. It has a validity of 2 years, although it was extended temporarily. To do a new I-693, go to the website and find a doctor https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor.

    Validity

By the way, you mentioned that USCIS visited your home. How did it go? If they are asking for new medical that expired, the visit must have yielded no red flags so your case is moving along.

Thank you! How is the medical process in the US? We have only one month time to submit the new mediacal papers. I dont even know where to start and how fast they do it here.

Home visit went good and they were super nice. It was a surprise I always thought homevisit are just legends but I see now that they are real.

  10. I had my medical exam in sweden 2019 summertime. Came to the country with k-1 visa. Got married. I applied my greencard 2019 December. Had my interview Feb 2021.

Now this week I got mail that I need to submit MEDICAL EXAM.

why? And how do I do it here? I already did it and submit it at the airport.

this is so stressful that I feel like giving up and going back to my country.

Yeah I remembered this case. If you look at the post back in April, the Field Officer doing the interview had an “odd rude attitude” during the interview back in February. Clearly prior to the interview, the officer already suspected something or the case had been flagged that’s why the case is where it is today.

The only thing I could find online from USCIS about home visits is below but this is usually used for employment based petitions and selected randomly. “TSVVP allows USCIS to focus resources where fraud and abuse of employment and family based visa types is more likely to occur.”

You would need to look around the forum on old threads, as visits are not that common.

    Hopefully you'll receive approval soon.

Are there any "red flags" in your marriage?

    Thank you!

we don’t have any ”red flags”. Not that we know.

Some get it fast, in about 3 months. I don't know if the visit is going to influence your waiting time.

    Hmm okay. Thank you!

Your EAD category is C09 which is one of the listed categories. The EAD-part is automatically extended but NOT the AP-part.

    Hey,

I understood that my EAD card was automatically extended 180 days.

still have not hear anything from GC or ead reneval. It’s almost 180 days since the ead expired and I applied new one. Does that mean once the 180 days is over I have to stop working?😞

You didn't apply for free the thing that is designed exactly for cases like yours. Now, gotta apply for it first.

Yeah😫 I really didnt think I would need it. I never thought our case would go extra time or extra wait.

You can apply for AP.  It will take about 6-8 months to get.

If you leave the US without AP in hand or a green card, you will not be let in again.  You would need to apply for a spousal visa and that would take 1-2 years.

    Thank you:)
