Thank you! Now I just have to figure out how to gain residency in the EU as we won't be living in France (her citizen country) but rather Austria for the first two years.
Thanks again!
Long road ahead of us...
-
I didn't know that we had to be living in the US for at least three years. Well, I may come back to the US for graduate school. Is she granted permanent residency?
I have the I129f approval, it was said to be sent to the consulate, but we received nothing from the Paris embassy. That's as far as we went.
So, can she just come here and we get married (I assume people do this all the time then leave for their home country)?
-
My I-129f was approved for my French fiancée. We've decided instead to move to Austria together this winter. She will be visiting America in November for her birthday at which point we will get married in Boston at the courthouse. It is only so we can be legally married and then on December 20th, I will fly to Austria to live with her and start my life in the EU. Can I cancel the I-129f visa since it was approved but we never went to the Consulate (Actually never received any paperwork) to get the actual visa and then she can come here to marry on the VWP with the intent for ourselves to move to Austria together and then I do whatever I have to do there to register as a French resident. We would like her to be able to get citizenship in America via marriage, so how would I go about that considering we will be living overseas for 3+ years?
Thanks!

Other as in besides my fiancée? No, just her. So if there is no one but my fiancée immigrating, you don't check any box and just enter NONE into the larger boxes?
Yes, and it says "If you checked box (B), ©, (d), (e) or in line 1 on Page 1, you must include proof of your
citizen, national, or permanent resident status. "
Do you need an original birth certificate? A copy? Or does something else suffice?
-
What do you use to prove citizenship (born in the US)? Thanks
-
What do you check for part 3 question 8 on the I-864? I need to know for myself and my co-sponsor.
Also, what do you use to prove citizenship? (born in the US)
Thanks
-
Hey - thanks. I read that example form before I made the post but I wasn't sure if the co-sponsor had to say something else.
I don't know why it says I have not filed a K-1. I remember picking that when I first joined and it was there before. I'll try to find the control to change it. Weird...

11. I intend do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3.
(If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnish
room and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and state whether it is to be given in a lump
sum, weekly or monthly, and for how long.
What does the sponsor and co-sponsor put here?
-
Your bank will do it for free.
-
I am not trying to use it as such, but it is 'income'. Who do I say my employer is, or do I state that I am unemployed?
-
Without going into too much detail, I have more than enough to live off of. My fiancé will be flying into JFK and will get a job thereafter.
So, could you just tell me how to write the statement that I did not have to file tax forms?
-
My co-sponsor's income is well above the poverty line. I don't know how much, but I know it is over six figures, has no debt, no liabilities, and multiple houses. All that needs to be disclosed is the co-sponsor's income and no assets and/or investments?
-
-
-
Addendum:
After reading the form, it asks for value of homes, stocks, life insurance, etc.
This all has to be reported when the co-sponsor's income is well above the 125% poverty line?
-
First question: I thought the sponsor and/or co-sponsor did not have to disclose assets if their income is above 125% of the poverty line? My co-sponsor is unwilling to indicate assets including:
Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial
institutions where you have deposits, identifying the
following details regarding your account:
1. Date account opened;
2. Total amount deposited for the past year;
3. Present balance.
Not to mention, my co-sponsor has four savings accounts and two checking accounts. I am assuming you put N/A in the parts asking for this information and just fill out relevant parts disclosing income and providing evidence.
Second question: Since I have no assets and am applying on my SSI income, what do I put in the boxes asking for amounts?
-
Another question:
On the I-864, on question 24 it asks:
(e) The person listed above, (Name) does not need to complete Form I-864A because he/she is the intending immigrant and has no accompanying dependents.
What do I put here? The petitioner or beneficiary? And what does my co-sponsor put?
-
It states on the I-864 (I haven't gotten to the I-134 yet) you need to show proof if you did not have to file? How am I suppose to do that? I am on SSI and under the poverty line. I have never worked and am also a college student.
Also, is SSI is considered income, correct? Do I state I am unemployed or employed and if so, by whom?
Yes, I am filing with a co-sponsor and yes, I know typically the I-864 is not required but the Paris Embassy asks for it, so I want to fill out both.

Dude, is your caps lock key broken?

Cf. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...c=65713&hl=
I understand the frustration from CSC filers - I honestly do. The government is never predictable and they take too long for everything. However, when one posts in the correct sub-forum, specifically for announcements, they have the reasonable expectation not to feel guilty after receiving bitter responses from people.
We are all in this together: I don't give a damn if you get your visa two weeks after you apply, it still is too long to be apart. Same thing goes for someone's case that takes 10 months to get a visa. It's not fair; but life is seldom fair. We should live with the person whom we love when *we* want to, and not deal with arbitrary rules set in place by the government. But we don't and we have to accept that, as a community of visa applicants.
I never saw your other thread. The treatment you received is wholly uncalled for. I realize it must stink for CSC filers to see VSC filers zip through, but our happiness is just as valid as theirs. VJ is a forum for ALL people going through the visa process, not just those with longer wait times or more complex issues. I don't think that kind of abuse is funny. At all. I'm sorry you had to experience such ugliness, Ephesus. Best of luck to you on the rest of your journey!
Thanks for your kind words.

ooh ok i see what's going on here, well no worries i'm not even starting right now, this is just the preparatory phase
mon cheri is only starting his own business, and i saw he needs to prove he can support me, so just that will take us a lil while. and i have another question to ask but which is totally seperate. it's not that we're in no rush, but religiously we're not where we both want to be, but we're hoping this year or next year at the most...
anyway, i live in Paris
He can get a co-sponsor. A lot of people do that. I can't advise you on religious matters, all I can say is make sure your views coincide. It's never a good idea to enter into a commitment of this magnitude when your views are still forming.
oh no no, we're both of the same one, but trying to be saved and for exemple we don't want to have sex before getting married, but we know if we're not careful we won't be strong enough, so we're waiting, working on it, on our strenght ... nono we're on the same page, our views defenitely coincide lol
I won't comment any further on this as I don't want to upset you or any other religious follower. I would seek guidance from your place of worship.

I'll be in Provence for the summer (I leave on Monday).
Okay NOW you're just making us extra jealous!
Hey - I have a few more months until I start postgraduate study. I might as well enjoy it while I can.
-
Thanks. And I remember the post that prompted your comment after you linked to it - that was unduly harsh (or kind of a harsh attempt at just being funny). I said I laughed at it over there. It's all bittersweet I suppose. And I agree that a day is too long to wait when you want to be with someone. I think we ALL would sign off on that statement!
This whole process is best paired with many, many bottles of wine. Too bad we can't start a VJ wine club (to temper the VJ whine club we already have - I'm a proud charter member of THAT club already!). With all the different countries represented here, we could have quite a party. And some France vs. Cali wine-offs?
At any rate - good luck to you and to the OP!
Mmm, wine...
My Uncle worked for the former Mondavi. The wine he would bring when visiting was good, but it didn't compare to French wines. But sure, if you're paying, we can have a competition. ;-)
Canceling K1 petition
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Hi, had the I-129f approved. It was at the NVC and they said they shipped it to the embassy. Never heard from them since. I want to cancel the visa and make sure my fiancée has no troubles visiting in November for her b'day. How do I cancel it? I am moving to Europe instead of her coming here.
Thanks.
