  1. My step daughter (K2) returned to her home country yeterday for 6 weeks. She has her AP documents. She also has a copy of her AOS interview appointment document with her. But she didn't turn in her expired i94 when she boarded the plane in Chicago. The i94 is expired, but she is in the AOS process. Is it a problem that she didn't turn in the i94 when she left. Should she do anything before reenty.

  2. The appointment for my finacee and her daughter was September 4. I travelled to Warsaw to attend the interview as well. And I am glad I did. We went to the embassy on the 4th and waited a couple of hours to be called. We were told there was a problem and our case was probably going into AR. They asked us to pay for a full set of finger prints for my finacee. But just before I paid the lady came over and said never mind- they didn't have any prints to compare them with. Apparently there was some sort of identity question that was triggered. We were simply told to return tomorrow and they would decide what was going to happen to our case.

The next day we were really nervous. We waited until it was time for our number to be called, but our number was skipped. They went through all of the other numbers and we were called last. When we went to the window the woman had a very serious look and I was sure our case would be rejected. But all she said was our paperwork is in order and we can pick up our visa after 3:00 that afternoon. I was in shock. I just stood there waiting for her to ask questions, but she said thanks and goodbye.

They were so focused on that identity issue they never asked us a single question, either day --- nothing. They didn't look at any of the documents we brought -- not one. As we walked out I kept expecting them to call us back to the window.

But it all worked out, and we travelled to Oregon on September 9th. We are getting married on September 29.

  3. Today I received a letter form the NVC.

Dear Petitioner: The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fianceé. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place.

Then is lists my fianceé’s name and location for the interview. And is says my fianceé will receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for a K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required.

Since they received my petition June 20, doesn't that mean it should have gone out by now????

Maybe it will go out tomorrow?

    I hope so!

  5. My Fiancée is from Belarus. Normally a visa from Poland would be required for her to visit Warsaw. I read on another site the visa may not be required to visit the US Consolata in Warsaw. Has anyone from Belarus had an interview in Warsaw?

Also she plans to fly from Warsaw to the states. Has anyone else done that? Are there any problems with leaving directly from Poland?

    Thanks!

Yes, she needs a visa to enter Poland. This should be done in advance, because in case they deny her, she would have to have her interview moved from Warsaw to some other consulate handling Fiance visas.

Most importantly, when seeking the PL visa, she must clearly state that her intent is consulate interview only. If she says anything else, like the part about staying there for 2 weeks until she has the visa in hand may result in denial. They are very picky about this. Also, I thought they send the visa stamped passport back to the home country, don't they?

Thanks for replying. I will be sure to tell my fiance to mention she is going to Warsaw for the intervie. I hope she can depart from Poland on a flight to the states.

I have read that Warsaw generally provides the K1 visa next day at the embassy for the people residing in other countries.

  7. Hi, this is the first time I have posted anything on VJ. I filed in March, but I have a question for those who have received packet 3 or 4. Do they send the packets out through email or do they send paper copies through regular mail? The reason I ask is that my fiancées ex still has access to her mailbox and it would not be good if he intercepted the package from the embassy. By the way she is in Minsk, Belarus and the embassy is in Warsaw.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Usualy its mailed out. It might be a little tricky to switch address now, but is there another mailbox she can use or rent?

I always send letters and packages to her mother's address. I used her actual address on the forms because I thought it was necessary for it to be her address. I think when the paperwork reaches the embassy I will call them and ask if they can send the packet to her mother's addtess.

    Thanks again.
