  1. Hello,

My son and daughter in law have just received notice of their upcoming interview for her AOS.   My son lost his job and has been offered  another great one that requires security clearance...which takes quite a while.  In the mean time, he has accepted a part time position that starts in the middle of January.  They are supposed to bring two pay stubs in addition to his previous tax returns.  However, he doesn't have pay stubs since he has been out of work for the last little while.  He can show the offer letter from the job that requires the clearance and he can show a letter from the part time position that he will start the middle of January.  He will not have two pay stubs by the time of the interview.  Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?  Also, my mom (who is retired) has offered to co sponsor.  Should they prepared with paperwork for her to co sponsor in case?

Thanks so much for your help!

You can hold on to it as long as you want but try  to get it done before the expiration date on the NOA2 if you need more time the embassy can extend it twice but you would have to give them a valid reason.  A month should be ok to hold it but I wouldnt go farther than that.  If you wait a month to do packet 3 it will be another month until your interview so it will be like 2 months anyways.

    Thank you!

  3. My son is sponsoring his fiance from Thailand and no longer has a job.  He is currently interviewing for a new one, but it is taking time and he is concerned about the affidavit of support.  The petition has been approved and is now on it's way to the NVC.  Is his tax return from the 2018 (and prior years as well) what they will want to see or does he need to show proof that he currently is employed?  Also, does anyone know how it takes once the NVC gets the paperwork for the consulate in Thailand to schedule an the interview?  How much time in advance do they schedule the interview?

    Thanks for your help.
