  1. I picked up my K3 Visa on Nov 14th. A friend of mine wants us to go and visit another friend of ours in Las Vegas at the beginning of December. My husband and I were going to move me to the U.S. when I get back. Is this allowed?

I don't need advance parole on a K3 but does it create other problems? Do I have to apply for AOS first before I can travel to and from the U.S. or am I pretty much free to come and go?

Do I just bring my Visa package with me and have it all processed at the airport when I fly to Vegas?

Or should I forget the trip and just concentrate on moving instead?

    Thanks,

    Kim

  2.:dance: Verbal approval on my interview date November 13th which was also my 44th Birthday. My husband gave me a beautiful white gold teardrop pendant necklace with a diamond in the middle. It is now not only my birthday present but will always be a reminder of the day my U.S. Visa was approved. I picked up my Visa today and gave my 2 weeks notice at work. After that I am going on a brief girls vacation with my best friends and then when I am back, Will and I will get me moved to the U.S. for mid-December.

Everyone at the Vancouver Consulate was very nice and it was ridiculously easy. I was nervous for no reason. There were only two of us there for our interviews.

I wish everyone the best of luck and hope you are all with your loves soon!......it will happen

  3. UHaul may say that they guarantee something but they don't. They only two people I know that used them, reserved a truck and there was nothing on the day they needed it and then THEY were told to drive to other locations and when they got to the other locations there was nothing. I firmly believe they overbook like the airlines. Plus having the tire blow because of dangerously low tire pressure in all the tires was enough proof for me after seeing the W-5 report on t.v. Use ANYONE else....pay more

  4. I too heard of the horrors of UHaul both in shoddy upkeep and customer service. A co-worker reserved one for her son who was moving to Vancouver Island to go to University and on the day of the move.....no vehicles available. I firmly believe that they overbook like the airlines and it is first come first served.

A friend of mine just rented one as well and again, nothing there on the day they were supposed to travel to Prince George from Surrey. They were told to try another location and when they went there, nothing. The next day they were given a couple of locations and managed to get one finally after using up their booked off time and gas etc.

THEN on the way to Prince George, a tire blew and they found out that the tires were supposed to have a pressure of something like 65 and they were at 20.

I would say use Budget or anyone else. I am not using U-haul. I would rather pay a moving company.

  5. I work across the street from the Days Inn. It looks fine and the pub downstairs (Smiley O'Neill's) has good food. It is approx. 2 blocks from the Consulate. I am not sure of the prices etc.

My husband and I just stayed at the Century Plaza Hotel for the past 2 nights which is a block away from Dr. Ian Morgan, where I had to have my exam and since you have to be there between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. it was a lot easier for me, and more fun. Otherwise I would have been up at 4:30 a.m. as opposed to 6:00 a.m. We paid $89 per night (online as the rates are cheaper than by phone) and we had a kitchen with a full fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, utensils, pots etc. It was almost like a little apartment. You have to pay $12 something per night extra for parking. There is a movie theatre a block or so away and restaurants and shopping. It is further from the Consulate though....approx. 7 blocks away. About a 10 - 15 minute walk.

The Hyatt is one of the better hotels and it is a little closer than the Days Inn but probably more expensive.

  6. My 129-F is at the Consulate for my K-3. I am getting confused now about the Affidavit of Support and which one. Does my husband need to complete one? It has not been mentioned in any of the letters received or in packet #3

The Vancouver US Embassy/Consulate Info link states that packet 3 contains an I-134, but mine did not (or is it for K-1's only?). It also mentions an OF-167....what is that? And do I need to be concerned about it.

Disregard my previous post. I emailed the Vancouver Consulate yesterday and they responded very quickly. We don't need an Affidavit of Support for a K3 and only what is on the checklist...unless they ask for additional documents during the interview.

  7. I am going for the medical exam next Wednesday, October 24th. They will send me at that time for my MMR immunization as I have nothing that shows I ever had a rubella shot.

I have everything else on the checklist but now I am getting confused about the Affidavit of support. Does my husband need to complete one? I have not seen a request in any of our documents or letters received that state we need it. If we do, which one? There appears to be a I-134 and an I-864 along with an I-864A and an I-864EZ.

There is also mention in the Vancouver, Canada US Embassy/Consulate Info section of an OF-167. What is that and do we need it for our purposes?

Please disregard my previous message. I emailed the Vancouver Consulate yesterday and got a response this morning.....they are so quick. They advised I only need what is on the checklist so I don't need Will to complete an Affidavit of Support.

  10. I am confused because the URL they give us here in Canada comes up with an RCMP page that says the page does not exist. I called the RCMP and they said I have to go where I live which is New Westminster and is city police not RCMP.

What exactly is the Police Certificate anyway? I thought it was fingerprinting and when I looked that up through the RCMP site it said we get fingerprinted on a form and then send the form to Ottawa and it takes 4 months to process. I am assuming now that that was not the right thing to look up and the wrong information (please God).

Kim (I will update my profile I promise...just got back from vacation)

  11. Nope have not heard a thing. It has been 2 weeks since we were approved so I am assuming we have approx. 2 more weeks.

Kim, did you get the NOA2 notices in the snail mail for both petitions? if yes, can you share the dates?

    thanks.

Sorry, I have been off for awhile. You know, I am not sure when my husband received the NOA2's but we did get them in the mail.

We still have had nothing from the NVC but my husband has not called them. I have to advise them that I have changed my address here in Canada.

Will just brought the NOA2's with him on a visit and the I-130 states what someone has mentioned near the beginning of this thread.....The petition indicates that the person for whom you are petitioning is in the US and will apply for Adjustment of status. He or she should contact the local INS office to obtain Form I-485, Application for Permanent Residence.

If the person for whom you are petitioning decides to apply for a visa outside the US based on this petition, the petitioner should file Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, with this office to request that we send the petition to the Department of State National Visa Center.

What do we do with this? Do we just ignore it and complete the I-485 when I get my Visa and move to the US or should we be completing the I-824 now?

  12. Kim&Will, It's our Six month anniversary tommorrow. I think we got our gift a day earlier.

Wow we are close on everything aren't we? We will have to keep track and band together to send good vibes to everyone else!

Lvivlovers..........yeah, hurry up and wait for NVC now eh? I am not going to let it get me down. We waited patiently for this part and we are going to enjoy it.

Will is waiting at my place until I get home from work (he arrived this morning for the weekend) and he has no clue yet  It is soooooo hard not calling him but I want to do it in person.

  13. It is our 6 month anniversary today and I checked the site this morning. The spousal petition touch yesterday has now become an approval and the fiance petition was approved yesterday as well.

I was amazed as they had not even touched the spousal since April and the fiance since June.

Now I guess it is hurry up and wait until NVC gets them eh?

It is happening people! We will all be approved soon! Keep the faith. Each person approved means more are being approved....it WILL happen and SOON!

I am sending my prayers for all of you.

    Kim
