Finally, today, 8th of June, our K1 visa got approved. It has been a joyous time since I heard the news especially since it coincided exactly with my birthday - what a lovely gift.

Hi!
The National Police Certificate is a one page document with lots of security features (watermarks etc.)
If you have no police record it will just say in a couple of sentences that there is no police record against your NAME or against your FINGERPRINTS. You don't get a copy of your fingerprints back.
Thanks for that information. I guess I am accustomed to some other countries giving you a packet of information with a copy of the fingerprints. This is easier.

I just wanted to confirm what the police report entails. Is it a one page document just summarizing the report or is it a more extensive report which includes the actual finger prints, etc. I know some countries return the prints with the report - does the Australian police do the same?

Thanks! I appreciate you all giving me your input and advice. I dont foresee any such issues, but it is better to be prepared, I suppose. I guess my main concern is flat out denial based on something small, but I gather from what everyone has said, that may only be due to the presumption of a fraud, which is the least of my worries.

My fiancee and I are pretty much up to date as far as the paperwork needed for the interview goes. We have yet to submit the checklist, pending arrival of police and medical reports.
The question I have, especially if anyone has experienced something like this is that when you go for the interview, what if there is something missing or out of order or maybe they need additional information/documentation. What do they do in that case? Do they give you time to sort out the issue and come back for an interview another day?
I guess what I am asking is that in the case of filing the petition, they would issue an RFE - what is the equivalent during an interview? Or does no such thing exist?
Has anyone gone through this experience or have any knowledge about this?

*waves back* Okay, the city is Lexington Park in St. Marys County, I'll give you directions... start in Baltimore, follow the Chesapeake river south... no, keep going... keep going....still not there yet.... okay, that little river is the Paxuent river... swim across and you're there! (watch out for navy folk though;) ).
If you keep going south you're swimming again, and then you're in VA... and you've gone too far
I'll be flying into Baltimore but I'm starting off in LA, Tonys family live in LA and they're looking forward to meeting me so I'll be there for about a week to get aquainted before I move into my new home in MD.

Hello guys and gals,
I was invited to this thread and thought I would come and say hello to everyone and maybe get some advice from those who have already gone through this treacherous ordeal
I am actually in Baltimore, Maryland, USA but my fiancee is in Perth. She will be joining me as soon as the paperwork gets sorted out and she can catch a flight here.
Currently we are at the stage where we are gathering documents indicated in Packet 3. She has already got her medical done and is awating the report. The next thing she will get done is the fingerprints and police check. I have already mailed her the I-134 form and the necessary documentation. She has mailed the DS-230 form to the consulate. I think for now it is a waiting game until we can send the checklist, right?
Any advice you may have for us will be appreciated. Anything we must be careful of or ensure we get done, guidance to that will be appreciated.
Can anyone give me any input as to how long it takes between sending the checklist and getting an interview date? I suppose at some point I will be asking for pointers on the actual interview. Dont want my fiancee getting all worked up and nervous.

Had received my NOA2 on March 28th. This morning, April 10th, my fiancee received the Packet 3. Woo hoo!
I am so excited. Now to get all that paperwork ready and mail it to her. Hopefully that interview comes quickly and we can join each other. -
Just received a letter from NVC dated March 29 stating that my approved I-129F petition has been received and that within a week, it shall be forwarded to the consulate in Australia.
I am so glad and was so excited that I had to wake my fiancee up in the late hour of night and tell her the news. This is great and I hope that all those following the same time frame as I am are getting their letters too.
Good luck to all and may patience and perseverence be on our side.

Finally, 6 days after being approved, I receive the hard copy of the NOA2 in the mail today. Can't begin to tell you how happy we both are. Of course this is just the beginning but at least we know the ball is rolling.
A few questions and some guidance needed from those who are ahead of me in this. Now that I have received the NOA2, what do I do? Do I stay put and wait for correspondence from NVC? In the Step-by-Step guide here in VJ.com, there is a list of things I need to do upon receipt of the NOA2. Do I have to do them now or once the application has reached the consulate, which in my case is Australia.
Second question, #2 in the guide talks about sending originals of documentary proof - I had sent copies of my passport, naturalization certificate, etc. Do I need to send those originals? Or is this referring to something specific?
The letter mentioned in #3 of the guide, I presume it would be the same as the statement of intent that I had submitted or somewhat different. Do we have any examples of them here?
Lastly, at what stage do I send the I-134 and the necessary documentation?
Any and all help you can offer me will be greatly appreciated.

I am sure you will be - dont worry too much about it. The last time mine was touched was on the 14th and not again until today - so for a week it was just sitting. Then suddenly everything happened so quickly.
My fiancee should be happy - it is her birthday today

Just checked the USCIS website and as of today, March 22nd, they have issued the NOA2. I should be duly receiving it in snail mail. I am so excited
So what is next?
I am so happy for all of us who have received theirs and pray for those waiting to get theirs quickly. Being apart from the one you love is no fun.

Another March filer here. Sent the I-129F package on the 5th and received NOA1 on the 14th, though it is dated the 8th. Now eagerly awaiting the NOA2. Last time my application was "touched" was the 14th. I suppose it is a test of patience. Lets all hope for the best and the fastest processing.

So let me get this straight - and someone please correct me if I am still wrong. After my fiancee receives her K-1 visa, she has 6 months within which to travel and enter the USA. Then once she has entered the US, she has 90 days within which to get married to me. Am I right so far?
If that is indeed the case, then at least we have some time, albeit very short, in which to plan the wedding. I am already feelign much better - LOL

Hello everyone!
First things first, I just received my NOA1 in the mail today, though it is dated March 8. I guess it is too early to get too excited but at least the ball is rolling, somewhat.
I am sure this question has been answered before, but I am going to ask this anyway since I am a little confused due to conflicting information I have received previously from people who are not exactly credible.
Once the fiancee receives the K-1 visa, how much time are they allowed before they have to travel to the USA. Does this time include the 90 days mandate to get married? I have read that you have 6 months to travel but I would like to know if that includes the 90 days - or are they separate time frames.
I suppose it is never to early to start planning, so any and all information that you all can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations! This is a long process and sometimes difficult to be patient and let things run their course. I know that Melinda and I were always anxious as we waited through each phase of the visa approval. Hang in there and it will all be worth is very soon. Praying for you here in Arizona

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome. This certainly is a very helpful and informative forum. I look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone here.
I do agree with you that it can be a log process and one has to be patience. My fiancee and I have been "together" for almost a year and a half and are looking forward to being together, permanently. Hopefully it wont take all that long and we can start out life together.

I just joined VJ today though I have been browsing the forums for the past month or so and have found quite a lot of useful information. I really appreciate everyone putting in their thoughts, views, opinions and experiences which helps those of us just starting off on this quest. I must say that I have learnt a lot from everyone and have felt more confident filing my paperwork.
I mailed my I-129F package to Vermont on the 5th of March and am now waiting to see what happens.
