That piece is referring to the validity period of the passport, not the remaining validity. Most passports issued to adults are for 10 years. Exceptions are, for instance, those issued due to loss/theft/damage while abroad.

Oh ya!   It's for the K-1 Visa Petition.  I am the petitioner (US Citizen) and am ready to get the process going. 

My US passport is valid until December 2023 which means just a few months short of the 5 year minimum.  Do you guys' think this is a problem? Anyone used a passport to verify citzenship that wasn't meeting the 5 year requirement?  

I do not have a birth certificate available so hoping using my US passport is okay.

My questions are regarding the Employement and Address History sections for the K-1 Visa.

How do I properly include additional information for address and employement history?  On the application itself, it says to "use the space provided in Part 8. Additional Information" but I've also read on this forum that people just add a word document at the end with a list of addresses.  

Are there any examples/templates available? 

I am a US citizen currently living abroad in Australia with my fiance.  We want to apply for the K-1 Visa now and both move to the USA as soon as the visa is approved...then get married in the USA.   

Is it okay to apply for a K-1 visa while living abroad?  Or do I need to be in the USA to file?
