  1. Hi Everyone,

My Fiancee started acting up and bring up issues after my interview at the US Embassy was successful and they granted us K1 Fiance Visa. She insisted I should not come. I love her so much and I never cheated on her neither did I disrespected her in any way. All efforts to makeup and settle issues with her has not been positive. A lot of financial and physical efforts have been committed on this immigration project to a great extent. However, I am currently in my home still waiting for her instruction despite the fact that my expiry date is fast approaching.

    Please advice:

    1) Should I travel to USA and see if she will resolve matter with me by the time she see my physical presence?

    2) Should I travel to USA and hire an immigrant lawyer to advise on other options

    3) Please what exactly should I do???

Please your advice will be well appreciated.

    Thank you

This is what I did. You can access your Whatsapp account on a computer. I don't know the exact procedure off hand  but what you ultimately do to prove its your account is there will be a QR(?) code come up on your computer screen. If you scan it while using Whatsapp, it will go directly to your account where you will have access to all your text conversations like you do on your phone. What I did since I had over a year's worth of chats, I did a snapshot for each quarter of the year, you may want to do one per month. This establishes a continued conversation since everything is date-coded! Good luck!

I am familiar with the procedure to access whats app on my computer... Doing one screen shot for each month is kind of stress free for me because my chat history is from 2016.

    Cheers.

Sorry for the late response but that is what I did. I did everything in advance without waiting for them to email me the information. And to my luck everything worked out perfect.

    Hello,

Please which is the best way to print my whats-app chat communication with my fiancee? Should I export to a text file or I should do screen shots of all our communication, paste in word file and print?

    Your advice will be appreciated.

  4. Hello All,

We checked our tracker last week Wednesday and it shows ready "Ready". We notified Lagos Consular office via email and we were told it has enter their system but they have not received the hard-copy. Hence, we were told that they won't send us anything until they receive the hard-copy. In order to be proactive, we have filled and submitted our DS-160 form and paid for it.

My questions are; Should we go ahead to book appointment for interview, do medical examination and police report?

OR we should wait till when Lagos Consular office notify us that they have received our physical copy (hard copy), send us packet 4 and book us for the interview?

    Your advice will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Here’s the steps I took :

So after I received my NOA2 in the mail, I called NVC consistently to find out if they’ve received my case from USCIS. It took exactly 2 weeks of calling to receive the number from NVC. The day I received the number I called them in the morning and they stated they didn’t have it, then I called in the evening around 6pm and they had a case number for me. When you call them make sure you get both the case  id number and the invoice id number.

    Next,

After receiving my case and invoice ID numbers, I started making preparations with my fiancé to go do his medical exam and his police report.

Note : make sure to update your email address with NVC because they’ll contact you over email. I never received any letters from them via mail.

Find packet 4 online. Consulate won’t send it to you until after they receive your case. At the top where I posted all the links you’ll see a link that has the Packet 4 information I believe. In the packet, it’ll give you information on what you need for the interview, where to do the medical exam and police report and other important information you need for the interview.

Typically, you’ll receive this packet after the embassy receives your case from NVC

After I obtained my case number from NVC, it took another 2 weeks for it to leave NVC. Meaning it sat at NVC for a month before being sent to the embassy.

While the month was going and we were waiting for NVC to send it to the embassy, we did the medical exam, the police report and paid the visa fee and went ahead and scheduled an interview. Visa fee was $265, medical exam was approximately N100,000 (actually less than but I don’t remember the actual amount) and N7000 for the police can report.

Again, according to my calculations, I calculated it would take two days for the consulate to receive our case, 4 days to receive a packet. But I’d personally suggest emailing the consulate asking for packet 4. Again, if you receive Packet 4 prior to the embassy sending it you don’t really need to request for it again though they’ll still send it.

Medical exam in Nigeria takes 10 days to receive the result. So plan to have enough time to pick up your medical exam to have it ready for the interview. The police report I believe is same day. Just a few hours wait but you can get it the same day (fiancé verified if only took him about an hour) and the visa fee you’ll pay $265 at GTB bank and then use the number on your receipt to set up the interview.

Do not wait for NVC they’ll delay the entire process.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I just wanted to send out this general message to everyone asking to let them know the steps I took.

From my personal experiences of receiving mails from the U.S I was able to understand the timing of packages sent from the NVC and when it gets to the Consulate in Naija.

the cases are atimes sent through speed post(very likely DHL) and that takes about 2-7 days. so if you are fortunate and ur case is sent through that means your case gets to the embassy within a week.

Atimes it is sent as priority mail through (USPS) and that takes around two to three weeks to send a package from U.S to Naija. so if that is your case you should expect your case to take some weeks but less than a month.

So with that in mind, you can schedule ur appointment,do your medicals, police certificate, etc and wait for the thing to get to the embassy.

But if you are the type that panic a lot u can wait till your case gets to the embassy before you start those processes.

    Thank you.

  7. Good day All,

    Please I need your advice.

My Fiance requested for our petition status via email to NVC and received a response from them stating that our application has been sent to Lagos. They also stated all required details and asked us to contact Lagos Consular Office to request for status of our K1 Petition. We acted as advised but we are yet to receive a response from them after 7 working days.

In order to beat the time, we have filled and submitted our DS-160 form and also paid. Though we have not received any mail or notification from the US Consular office Lagos that they have received our petition and scheduled us for interview. Neither have they mailed the Instruction package, packet 3 or 4 to us. My questions are:

    1) Can I go ahead for my medicals and police certificate or we should wait till we receive instruction package from US Consular office Lagos?

    2) With this notice "...K visa applicants should not schedule their appointment until after they have received an Instruction package from the Consulate...." on their website, can we still go ahead to book appointment since we have access to schedule interview date before all the dates are occupied? We can book a date in 2 week with the hope that our medicals will be ready by then?

Thank you for your kind response.
