Hi Everyone,

I have a general question related to filing of I-131 Re-entry Permit.

I am a U.S. Citizen and I have a Japanese wife who obtained the residency I--551 through our marriage 8 years ago.

She needs to go back to Japan for about a year to take care of her mother's medical situation.  From what I have read

in various forums, we can file I-131 so she can obtain the reentry permit which will allow her to stay there over 6 months.

My main question is can she leave the county after the I-131 filing and the biometrics gets done?

Next question:  Can the reentry permit be mailed to her in Japan after I receive it here?  Or do I have to request the

permit sent to a U.S. consulate office in Japan?

Last question:  Is it better to leave U.S. after the reentry permit is received?
