  1. Thanks to all my people at VJ I got my green card last week. Approved 77 days. I went to Social Security Office and they told me their system is not updated with my status. They had to sent a verification letter to immigration. Has anyone experienced that?

Hi there! We just recieved my greencard 2 weeks ago then the next step that me and husband made was went down to our local Social Security Office to apply for my social security number but the guy there said that they had to do some electronic verification to USCIS regarding our records because my last name that they found out in there system was my unmarried last name and on my greencard it was my married last name. Since the last name on my greencard is different from the last name on their system record they have to verify my record first in USCIS. And he said to call them back after two weeks from the day we went down in there office to find out the result. Which i really don't know why it happens. But prior to this I remembered that our greencard has been held up for 6 months because of the error that the USCIS they made. and we found out that when we made an infopass and the immigration officer apologized to us for the error they made and gave me a temporary greencard which is valid for 3 months. Then week after we made our info pass i recieved my welcome letter and week after I recieved my welcome letter i recieved my greencard on mail. So i'm kinna thinking that maybe it has something to do with the error that USCIS made. But we were hoping that the result well be ok.But we will find it out next week.

Hope everything turn out with your SSN application too. Please kind share to us the result or the progress of your situation. Next week if we find out the result of our appllication i will share it to you right away. Goodlluck

    Sincerely,

    Ann

  2. I've read on several web sites, and this question has probably been asked here before, too, but I've been told that the "Pre-marriage seminar" that must be attended by the bride and groom prior to marriage really only applies to Catholics in the Philippines. My fiancé was "born Catholic" but before Jacki was 16, she and her family left the Catholic church and started attending an Evangelical Protestant church and have done so ever since. I also, for the record, am not Catholic. My question is basically this: is there anyone out there with or who is a Filipina fiancé/wife AND who is Protestant, and were you not required to attend the pre-marriage seminar?

I read that both parties generally have to attend, but if our case gets to the Manila embassy by mid-summer, I still would not be able to travel to the Philippines again for this 10-day thing. And when I go there to bring Jacki home hopefully early next year, we won't have time to deal with a 10-day seminar in Manila...we'll both be in her hometown saying goodbye to friends and family.

Hi guys!I don't know if i can still help you or I might be late already to share our experience to you.But first of all I want to ask you if when is your plan to have a wedding ceremony in Philippines? Right now I'm here in Colorado already and i got my greencard already. But I just got married last year April 9.2006 and we had our wedding ceremony too. It's not legal because of our K1 Visa application, and we just do that for the sake of my family there cause they can't be able to attend my wedding here in USA and at the same time my husband's family coundn't be able to attend on our wedding ceremony in Philippines too, that's why we come up with that idea. But on our case we didn't attend a seminar anymore since its not a legal wedding. Since my husband is Catholic and me is Seventhday Adventist we just come up with an idea to have a Christian Garden/Beach Wedding, not a catholic or adventist wedding. I talked to a Pastor which is a family friend and explained to him the situation and the real reason why it's not a legal wedding and why we want to have a ceremony and he understood it. Usually legal weddiing in PHil required a seminar but since its not legal so we don't have to go through with that. And also my husband that time couldn't be able to fly there just for that because of his work. But our wedding turns out ok and with no problem. So I think that best thing I can suggest to you and your fiance, Is to talk and come up with a plan that you and your fiance agreed on. Since both of you had a different religion why not just come up with a christian wedding or any idea you both agreed on like what we did and explain to the Minister the reasons why you want to have a wedding ceremony & why it's not legal. It's good if your fiance could find a minister she & family knew & a good friend of her family sometimes it's easy. But if your fiance still want a catholic wedding and if it is ok with you that tell your fiance to find a priest that she knew and explain the situation.i'm sure they will understand it.So goodluck & hope it will give you some idea.

  5. Hi there! In our case we totally been waited for 7 months and now our greencard was on our way as I recieved a letter from USCIS yesterday telling us that they ordered our greencard and we just need to wait within 30 days. But i'm just wondering what does the immigration officer told you when he/she during your interview 4months ago as i assumed. Cause in our cased during our interviewed the immigration officer told us that day that our application has been approved and all we need to do is just to wait after 2 weeks for our greencard, but 2 weeks gone by since our interview still no GC on our mail. We made phone calls to USCIS customer service but no used. Then me & my husband decided to wait till 6 months gone by we finally decided to make a INFOPASS which was last march 15. What happened on our infopass was that the immigration officer whom we talked to told us that they made a mistakes on their computer the reason why our GC has been help up. And she asked an apology for that and she stamped my passport for a temporary GC which is valid for 3 months. I told her that we signed up for electronic updates which telling us that our case was still in National Service Center in Missouri and still on processed which confused us but she told us that after two weeks from our interviewed day or a month or so after our interviewed we can make an infopass already to check what happened which we didn't do, but we never did that because we rely online and calling the USCIS and same thing they answered to us "all we need is to wait". which is really a struggled. But we just thank that during our info pass everything turned out ok and now I recieved already the welcome letter and just waiting for GC which hopefully next week will be on my mail.

Actually the bottom line why I shared my experienced with you hoping that it might help you and we might have they same experience during the interviewed. If during your interviewed the immigration officer told you that your application has been approved already and you just need to wait 2 weeks after but then 4months pass by nothing happened then I think its good thing to try the infopass and find out whats the reason why your application has been held up. Cause they might made a mistake on there computer the reason why your application has been held up. So Goodluck and God Bless.

  6. Hi Everybody!I just recieved an email from USCIS since I signed up for an electronic updates of my case. And this is what it said:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On March 29, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

As far as I understood that they sent the welcome letter through mail already last March 29th.But i'm just want to know what do they meant when they said this "Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later" especially the ADIT PROCESSING that there talking about.Hope anyone who did recieved the same letter will kindly shared there stories to us..I will appreciate you immediate response and your help. Thank you in advance and have a nice day.

    sincerely,

    Ann

  7. Hi Jules/Phillipe,

Hi guys! How are you doin? Me & Bob (my hubby) just finished with our INFOPASS today and it's a Good day for us. Actually it is a good birthday for my husband since it's his b-day today. The immigration officer who interviewed us was really nice and warmed. She told us that there is no problem with our application and as a matter of fact it's been approved since our interviewed. But she explained to us what happened why our application has been held up. And what happened is that they screwed up, that the immigration officer who interviewed us goofed up by missed something to do on her computer which she doesn't explaned what is that. But she just apologized to us for the mistaked they've done. She said it's there mistaked so nothing to worry on our part. So what she did is that she gave me a temporary greencard which was she stamped my passport and that would be valid for 3 months. And she told us that they will sent our greencard right away and we will just wait for 1 to 2 weeks to arrive.

We told her that we signed up online for some updates for our application and we saw online that nothings change and it is stay the same saying that our case was located in MSC and still on processed, but she told us that our case was not in Missouri Service Center anymore and it's was located in denver district office which is our local district office and has been approved and that part doesn't make sense to us. But anyway we are just relieved and happy that things turn out well today and everything is alright with our application.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your application, I understand how you feel and what you guys go through. I know everyday was like hell if you think about it. But I hope and pray that your application will work out well. Just hang on and be hopeful. I know this waiting time really makes you crazy but i'm sure there will be light at the end of the tunnel as they said. Good luck guys and takecare.

  8. Hi, this is my first time posting here, everything had been going fairly well up until now. My husband and I sent in our I-485 in November of '05, we didn't get an interview until August of '06, and here it is the end of Feb. '07 and still nothing! All that USCIS can tell us so far is that it is actively being processed in Missouri and someone will contact me within 30 days to let me know why it's taking so long. To make matters worse, we (stupidly) assumed that he would have our approval by now, so we did not reapply for another work permit, which expires in less than 20 days. There is no way my husband can stop working, we have two kids and plenty of bills to pay. Sorry for the breathless nature of this post but I'm starting to freak out! Any experiences to share or advice would be welcome.

    -Jules

Hi! I just read your message tonight, I'm wondering if you recieve any progress in your I-485 application or if you already recieved your green. It seems that we were on the same boat. My case is the same, I had my interview for AOS last Sept. 1, 2006 and we also applied for Advance Parole and EAD but during our interview the immigration officer told me and my husband that we've been approved and she will not gave us the EAD and advance parole permit anymore since our greencard will arrive next 2 weeks after our interview. But its been six months already but no green card. I signed up for updates on my application online but still the same thing is written there that our application has been processed in Missouri Service Center (which also known as NATIONAL BENIFITS CENTER). So now what we did is that we made an infopass which will be this coming March 15,2007. We tried to call up the USCIS but stil the same answer we just need to "WAIT". I'm just hoping and praying that they can give us answers to all our questions. It's really frustrating isn't it?

I wish you goodluck cause i know how you feel guys. Hope you will tell us the progress of you case. Thanks and Goodluck.
