  1. Received three pieces of mail from USCIS today. Funny thing is, we opened them in the wrong order :)

First, we saw a big yellow envelope that had photos and other evidence information. No letter with it, just a post-it note saying "Too many photos". Then a few minutes later, we saw the letter saying we were approved and to wait for our card. And then another couple minutes later was the card envelope itself! Hurrah!

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone else that have been approved and all the best to the rest of the NOvember filers!

  2. Quick qn. Did you find it easy to remember the ROC date? Were you constantly aware of it? Or did you have a reminder? My 90 days just happens to come up in the same month as my mum's bday so it's easy to remember... but I do remind myself of it occasionally.

Did you put stuff away for it all the time? Or pull it all together as the date approached?

For our ROC date, we were actually 3 weeks into when we could have applied before we finally gathered all of our information. I just knew the round about date & if anything, I wanted to make sure I got the extension letter to show my place of work.

We procrastinated and part of the lag was the fact that we needed to round up all of our support of evidence, plus the affidavits. Driving around the night before visiting friends that could sign it the week before Thanksgiving was NO FUN. I definitely suggest being more organized :)

  3. Hi everyone! :energy:

Haven't dropped by for a LONG time and so many new faces going through their journey. I wish you all the best - you'll get there (eventually). It takes a lot of patience and a sense of humor about everything :)

Good luck everyone, looking forward to reading more of your posts and hopefully helping out!

    Patricia

  4. leapoffaith,

I went home for 2 months November '08 to December '09 and had no problem coming back into the US, using my Advance Parole & without knowing whether they were going to ask me for an Interview while I was away.

I can understand the hesitation of using an AP before getting your GC. But before I bought my ticket, I got reassurance from Immigration Officers from USCIS that I shouldn't be afraid to use my AP - that's why they grant you one. Not once was I asked at LAX why I used my AP, how long I was gone for, etc. As long as you have the appropriate paperwork, you should feel confident in using it.

And the main reason why I went back for that long: I was homesick, I missed my family and needed to just go home. Relocating to another country isn't easy for all of us and you get to a point where you need to be around familiar things. And for your own sanity, an AP is there to be used - not to be afraid of. That is my opinion on it.

Good luck and I hope you are granted your AP & GC soon!

  5. Hi there,

I would like to ask you something regarding the AP. Since I'm still waiting for it....i never see the actual AP document before, so sounds like it is 2 piece of papers.......may i know if you receive another NOA telling you that you got approved?? Coz I checked the case status online, it says "approval notice sent" I wonder how long it takes me to get the actual AP document.

Any information for me would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm hoping to get some valuable information/tips from those who used their AP to leave/enter back into the US.

    1) Do I show/tell anyone at the Airport that I'm leaving the US with an AP?

    2) Do I only show/tell IO that I have an AP when I come back into the US?

    3) I'll be taking both of my AP copies with me - does the IO take it from me when I enter back into the US?

    4) What other documents/paperwork must I bring along besides marriage certificate to show my married surname, which is included in the AP document?

    Thanks in advance!

No, I didn't receive a NOA regarding the AP. The only NOA I received was for the EAD, which took longer than the AP to get.

  7. Hi fellow Aussies!

Wow! It has been a while since I've popped in here. I agree with Rings, lots of new faces :) I hope everyone's journey is going as fast as it possibly can.

Right now we're just waiting on the GC to be approved - with our without an interview is the main question. Our application was transferred to California last month and other K-1 AOS applicants have said that it normally means NO INTERVIEW - that would be grand :)

I'm gearing up to go home to Australia for about 6 weeks - we're going to look into flights tonight and hopefully seal that deal. I'm itching to go home and spend Christmas at home. I've been busy buying Christmas presents and the like.

Any other Aussies on this thread waiting on their GC like me?

Well, good luck with everyone's applications - you will eventually get there :D

  8. patriciafoz, congratulations on your transfer! :)

Thanks, ellla. All the best with your process too.

I have a question: I just received my Advance Parole papers. Now, is the Parole Stamp box next to my photograph SUPPOSE to have a stamp on it already from the National Benefits Center?

I'm so ready to book a flight to visit Australia - but I think I'll wait for some GC developments since this AP kinda makes me nervous...I plan to be back by late November. I'm so excited about the prospect of going back home for a visit.

    Going to research AP conditions...

  9. If he earns any money during the financial year he'll have to put in a tax claim. I guess the only exception is if all total earnings (including any savings that accrue interest) is UNDER $6,000.

To be assured, ring the ATO. They're very helpful. Whenever I call from the US I never get put on hold and they even ask for your US phone number so that they can call you back.

And share any info you find out, for future members :)
