Here's the rub.  We have friends who live just  a few miles from us, filed there i485 10 days before us.  Received biometrics appointment 6 days later.  Had biometrics on June 6.  Last week there i485 was approved to schedule interview.   We can't seem to get out of the starting gate .

I see.  Well in that case I'll call back and request Tier 2 service.  This is a hot mess.

When you speak to tier one ask

So I got through and when I asked about Tier 2 I was shot down almost immediately, got told it wouldn't matter if I was transferred to them.  The representative put in a service request to the office handling my case so they can respond.  But she did tell me that because nothing has been sent out I've not missed anything, which was the big worry I had.  If you recommend trying again and speaking to Tier 2 I'll try again tomorrow early morning when, hopefully, the wait times aren't as bad.

It means NOA1.  You should be calling and request an appointment be scheduled.  We are in the same situation

    On NOA1 it says
    "Next Steps:

    • USCIS will schedule a biometrics appointment for you to have your biometrics electronically captured at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC).  You will be receiving a biometrics appointment notice by mail with the specific date, time and place where you will have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken.
    • You must wait to receive your biometrics appointment notice before going to the ASC for biometrics processing
    • This notice does not serve as your biometrics appointment notice."

I thought USCIS were going to mail the notice automatically or should I just request help at the contact center?

  4. I filed my adjustment of status application in early May and received my NOA1 on May 17th.  But I've been waiting for over 2 months now and I've not received anything relating to a Biometrics appointment and I'm a little scared.

I've checked my application on the USCIS website and they say that my fingerprint fee has been received as of May 21st and that I was mailed with further instructions.  The exact wording is "We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."  I don't know if that's meant to refer to NOA1 or not.

    Any advice?

  5. This might sound like a silly question, but I've been a bit worried about this.  I entered the US as a K1 Fiance and married my wife in April.  I have filed my Adjustment of Status Package and received my NOA1s for the forms submitted, I-485 etc.  What do I do now?  On the NOA1 it mentions being contacted for biometrics, which I was already aware would happen.

Am I now allowed to stay in the country after my K1 expires, or is there some authority I must inform first?

The information I found online seems to indicate I can now stay and that I am classified as "awaiting adjustment" until the decision is made, but I couldn't find anything concrete saying it clearly.

  6. So I've been looking over my Adjustment of Status forms and I've come across form I-693, the medical examination form.

Now I've read online that I do not need to complete this form as I had my medical examination prior to entering the country and my actual interview at the US Embassy in London.  However during my medical I did not have two of the necessary vaccinations.  At the time I didn't have my tetanus or influenza vaccine.  I am 27 by the way.  After getting my approval to enter the country and marry my fiance I sought out these missing vaccines in the UK before I left.  I received both of them.  The tetanus vaccine is documented on my NHS records and I have a receipt for the flu vaccine.

I have the form from my medical exam in the UK.  Form DS-3025.

I suppose my question is do I need to complete form I-693 and attend another medical examination?

I'm finding conflicting information online and I really want to be sure about this.

Perfectly normal! I had my interview in London in December 2016 (at the old embassy) and I certainly felt at the end that it was somewhat of an anti-climax. The amount of time you are there depends on the workload each day. Some people end up taking longer than others, just like at the doctors or any other appointment.

If you read my embassy review in my timeline you will see that I said to the interviewer at the end “what do I do now?” because he said he had approved my visa and thanked me for coming but it wasn’t clear what I had to do then. I was expecting to have to sign some paperwork or something.

I assume they kept your passport? The CEAC website is updated by humans so there is often a delay between status updates, especially on Fridays. Check again on Tuesday.

Yes, they kept my passport.  I should also say they said I'd get an email in a few days, which I'm guessing is because they don't work weekends.  The more I think about it the more I think I'm overreacting, but I do thank everyone who is responding to this.  It's helping to put my mind at ease knowing this is normal.

  8. Hey guys I've been using VisaJourney for advice all throughout my K1 process, but this is the first time I've needed to actually post something.  I hope you can help.

So me and my Fiancee have been going through the process since February last year.  Yesterday (Friday 25th of Jan) was my interview date at the new US Embassy in London.  I arrived half hour earlier than my appointment slot and was let in earlier too.  I was given a number and sent upstairs.  After sitting down for a few minutes I was called up to give in my official documents and answer some questions, I was then told to sit back down and that they'd call my number one more time.  Another half hour passes and I'm called back to a different window with a lady who asks me some more questions pertaining to our relationship.  She then says that they "should be able to approve that."  I'm taken aback by how quick this was but I did clarify by asking "Did you say I was approved?" to which she responds "Yes."  I then ask if that's it and if I can leave and she says I can.

I leave the embassy probably about 50 minutes, maybe less, after entering.  I get anxious sometimes and now I'm terrified I've done something wrong and that I was meant to stay in there or something, especially since they say you should expect to be in there for 1.5 hours on the embassy website.

I've checked the visa status on CEAC using my case number on the IV section and it just says "Ready"

Am I overreacting or is this a common occurance
