  1. My wife entered the US under K-1 Visa today (went through Dallas TX). She didn't receive any documents from the custom officer. The officer kept all documents that she got back from the consulate. Does this sound about right? I thought she would receive some sort of form or reference number for the next step?. Thanks.

  2. My fiance received her Visa back in May of this year. Right now, she's still in Vietnam due to her mother's health. The visa expired on October. Although, I wanted my fiance to be here with me right now, but due to circumstances, I wouldn't want my fiance leaving her mom like that. My question is that possible to extend the Visa? Anybody done it before? I emailed the consulate but I have not hear anything from them. Thanks for reading.

  3. SKYPE, It's FREE

Try it and you will never go back to the substandard Yahoo Voice Chat.

Skype's voice and video quality is superiority over anything out there. and it's FREE!

We have this Netgear SPH200D setup here in the States, Kim's family in Saigon, siblings in Australia

    Skype - SPH200D

Always ON, always in-touch and it's FREE. This phone is a regular cordless house phone, just plug your phoneline into the phone and you can receive house calls as well as SKYPE calls.

We haven't paid for phone cards, pin card or any of those Saving Calls service for over 4 years now. Highly recommended! Even if you don't want to have the setup I have shown above, just your computer, regular headset and webcam will be a MAJOR communication improvement over Yahoo/AOL/MSN voice/video chat.

I think folks in the US is pretty slow with this stuff where as Asia (Japan Hong Kong Taiwan Singapore etc.) and EU/AU have been using Skype for years now.... Give it a spin and let me know!

Don't you need internet access to hook up that device? or just straight into regular phone line? I'm a bit confuse of that set up.

  4. Hang in there buddy, the exact same thing happened to my fiance's interview. PM me your email so I'll send you the "sample/form" of the timeline relationship that ME gave me. I hope that you purchased your airline tickets by credit card, or some type of paper trail that showed you bought the ticket. Fedex that those 2 required documents to your fiance and everything should be fine. Good luck. PM me.

  5. Hi, everybody;

My case was completed at NVC on June 11. I've been trying to call the NVC to find out if my wife has her interview scheduled yet. The automated voice message only gives me the routine "your case was completed on.... please allow 8 weeks form this date for further instructions".

Problem is, I could not get the live operator. Every time I call, I'm directed right back to the automated voice system again. The second attempt to reach an operator ends with a "goodbye".

Please give me advice on the best calling time and/or day to have an operator available at the NVC. If that's impossible, do I have any other altenatives? I truly appreciate any of your suggestions.

    Regards, Kilun.

Once it's completed at NVC, the case is forward to HCM (takes about 3 weeks to a month). Call HCM next week or so to see if they received your case or not.

    Violet

  6. Your fiancee will get through just fine without you, but I personally am so glad I came to Vietnam personally, for a number of reasons.

For one thing, I would hate to send anybody to LAX by themselves for the first time, heck I wouldn't want to send MYSELF to LAX. I know people do it all the time--I guess you just sort of rise to the occasion and muddle through. Yes, there should be somebody there to sort of direct the immigration lines. Don't worry, everything will be fine. She's got the visa and the immigration packet, there won't be any problems, I'm sure.

wait, so POE has to go through LAX? What POE did you guys enter through? I'm from Des Moines. IA.

    don2008--sorry to hijack your thread.

  7. As some of you guys know, my fiance got a green/blue slip last week. They asked for a timeline relationship, and proof of purchase for airplane tickets. My fiance gave them the timeline relationship at the interview (so as you can see, they already prepared the green slip before the interview took place). Well, I emailed to my fiance the proof of purchase for those tickets, as well as provide them another copy of timeline relationship. She turned it in, and after wait for 3 hours she received a pink slip.

Going way back 1 month before the interview, I decided to hire Marc Ellis just to make sure everything is on the right track. We found out that the Police Certificate for my fiance wasn't a right one (this was one week before the interview). And it cost us $200 to obtain another copy in that one week.

Before the interview, Mr. Ellis wrote a cover letter that goes on top of all the required documents (I doubt that the people work at the consulate even bother to look at what he wrote). And so she got a green slip.

After received the green slip, Mr. Ellis emailed the consulate and pointed to them that my fiance already turned in a timeline relationship at the interview. He also told the consulate that my fiance will turn in the rest of the requirement documents. (So, i'm not sure if he has influence toward the consulate, or my case is just straight simple).

Well, that's about it. I couldn't say how much of influence from Mr. Ellis has toward the consulate, but just to feel assure of me not being there with my fiance during the interview, I think it was a best choice for me to hire him. If you're uncomfortable, or have doubts in mind, I'd suggest go give Mr. Ellis a visit.

A few notes from me for people just start doing this process (the rest can be found somewhere in this forum) :)

    1. keep the purchase record of your airplane ticket ( try to buy a ticket with your CC so you'd have some type of paper trail). If you pay with cash then.....

    2. Make sure you're fiance/wife obtain the right Police Certificate.

    3. Have a timline relationship notarized by the time the interview take place.

That's about it, i can think of, pretty sure that you're going to provide them emails, chat logs, pictures but they hardly look at them at all. Good luck to all.

  8. sadly, they can't find a good reason why they should failed my finance the first time he got an interview... the only reason they found was oh the plane ticket doesn't match with my visa purchase.... the next day i fax my finance circle it... and they make another excuses that he has to wait... then the phone call started that when our answer doesn't match... and they ask my finance for his password to go into his email and read our emails... in the emails.. 2wk before i was being so mad at him and tell him its over and he should go find a gf.... so the officer read that... call me back on my phone and yelled at me for being unfaithful... i didn't even get a chance to explain to her and she hung the phone up on me.... so a few day ago they send my finance a letter said in the phone interview our answer didn't match... and i told him on the emails to go find a gf so the case is being send back to the US now... its sooo stupid.... i really need to find someone to write a letter of complaints to my case ... seriously..

as someone mentioned before, I'd advice you/your fiance go and talk to Marc Ellis. Just go talk to him for an hour or so. He's not a god, but he got some reputations. My fiance recently got her pink slip because Marc's influence with the consulate. (I'll post a detail story on that later). But don't give up, it's just a process, stick with it and you guys will get through.

  9. Sorry guys, been busy with work and some other stuffs. Anywho, at my fiance interview, they kept all the original documents (airplane stubs, my notarized timeline and other proofs). The green slip asked for timeline and airplane stubs/purchase receipts (so you can see, they printed the greenslip before they interviewed my fiance). My fiance didn't even have a chance to read what they requested. They kicked her out because it's their lunch time. Right now, I requested my CC for those statements, and it's going to take at least 10 days. I hope it's just going to be easy like your case, PhonglovesHa.

  10. Just got off the phone with my fiance. They ALREADY PREPARED a greenslip for her. (I'm not sure it's green or blue, she told me it's "xanh", wasn't sure which color it is). Anywho, the black woman was the one that interviewed my fiance. She asked typical questions, .........then handed out the green slip. The green slip asked for airline ticket stubs, timeline relationship from me, which my fiance already received from me a few days ago . I have EVERYTHING, and they didn't even bother to take a look. Man, I want to strangle those people just for that. This is insane.

  11. Tomorrow night, which is Monday morning in Vietnam, my fiance will have her interview. I'm so anxious.......... It's going to be tough for me to sleep tomorrow night. Wish us some luck, I'll post the result as soon as I get it.

  12. ok, i am sending my fiancee my certified copy of my birthcertificate, certified divorce decree, phone records, I- 134, which includes 3 years of tax returns, letter from my employer including pay stubs for the year, letter from bank with my bank statements also. anything else i may have missed?

    rodney

Might as well include a Timeline relationship and notarized it. I had to Fed-ex 3 days to my fiance a few days ago just for that piece of paper (cost me $58). If you're not in the hurry, just send it with USPS, cost around $22, and it'll get there within 9 days or so.

  13. Thanks Peter. My fiance had to do another one. One week to go and talk about stress here. I hope others when obtain their PC, make sure it's the one like Peter posted.

I have to send a timeline relationship tomorrow morning (Fedex 3 days). Do you guys think it'll make there by this week? Anybody going to VN this week? I don't trust mailing in VN at all. Thanks

  14. Her PC doesn't say PHIEU LY LICH TU PHAP. She obtained it from Dong Nai. Cost her around 200,000 VND ( i think). The form says that this person has never commit crime, no jail time.........but no where on the form it's mentioning PHIEU LY LICH TU PHAP. It's gonna cost me $300.

For the translation part, they wanted to have her birth certificate and some other form to translate to English. I dont remember exactly which other form. I'll call her again tonight to make sure. Thanks guys.

  15. Hello,

Can any of you guys able to scan and pm me a copy of your Police certificate? I'd like to see what's the form look like. Apparently, my fiance obtained the wrong PC ( as I was told by someone), and it's gonna cost me $300 to obtain a new one in just 1 week. My fiance interview is coming up a week from this Monday. Really appreciate if you can help. Thanks in advance.

The PC my fiance obtained from Dong Nai. I'm not sure if they should be in the same form/format. Thanks

My wife also obtained her PC, as well as its translation, at Dong Nai. I don't have access to scanner right now so I can't post the copy. Anyway, if your fiance's PC clearly states somewhere in that form as "PHIẾU LÝ LỊCH TƯ PHÁP" then it's the right one.

so did you have a translation to English too? Let me ask my wife again, i dont want to spend $300 for no reason. I feel like they're just trying to make money here. If you have an access to a scaner and scan it, I really appreciate it. Thanks

  17. My mom's friend, she and the beneficiary have a son that lives with the mom right now. Beneficiary currently lives in Vietnam, and he got his interview last week; the US consulate asked for DNA tests from him and his son. How they should go about get their DNA tested? since the son currently live here, does he have to fly back to VN to do DNA tests? thanks

  18. Can someone point me to a link for current visa fee, medical checkup? Thanks

There are no visa fees listed on the internet. I would call the Vietnam Consulate in SFO. They are cheaper and faster than the embassy in Washington. I believe, but don't quote me on this, that it's $45 for a 1 month, single entry tourist visa, plus your mailing costs. I myself am getting a 3 month, multi-entry for $120.

Their phone number is (415) 922-1707 or 922-1577. Email is info@vietnamconsulate-ca.org.

I don't know about the medical fees, but the nice lady at HCM (I got her twice before, and she's the only nice one) did remind me to remind Mai that she must get her medical done in Saigon. She must have seen that Mai is from Hanoi.

Good luck with all the preparations! Time to panic now! I leave in 15 days!

no, i was referring to the visa fee for my fiance before the interview.

  19. Thanks for the replies and support. One thing puzzles me, however. I cannot help but notice that both Eric and Peter suggest that I will have to wait another month to get a date set, and yet both of you got interviews in about 2 months after turning in Packet 3. I see others in the same situation, more or less. Are you trying to keep my expectations low, so I am not disappointed?

OK, part of my problem is that I just finished a job out-of-town, I've been away from my home for a long time, I've saved up all the money that I need now (which is why I took that job in the first place), I'm ready to GO! I just can't seem to get relaxed and satisfied adjusting to my new schedule, which is pretty much no schedule. What I need to do is just quit coming to VJ! Haha.

    Thanks again, guys.

Same thing is happening to me here, I called them and got the same typical ####### they gave me. I turned in Package 3 around the same tim as you guys. Another member in this forum turn their package 3 around the same time, and they already got their interview date (April 24th). I'll just call them every Monday to check on it then. Keep in touch.
