I have my interview on a Saturday, its been 34 days, and no news, no update. The status update is stuck with the interview notice. The file is probably stuck somewhere in the bureaucracy. The process was smooth up until this point. I don't know any reason why you'll be stuck for an oath? anyone any experience?

Denver was supposedly the fastest processing field office!

I was stuck a month after interview before my oath letter was sent I was interviewed in June. Everything was fast before my oath. Just hang in there.

I just became a US citizen today! Visajourney and everyone sharing their experience and support here have been a great help in my journey to achieve US citizenship.

Oath Ceremony experience:

Checked in at the USCIS office 30mins prior to my schedule. Handed my letter and GC to the officer and he gave me a packet and a number for my seat. There were about 39 people schedule to take oath and I think only 1 didn't show up. Ceremony didn't start until over 30mins later than scheduled because we waited for some people who were late! You'll think it's big day, people should be on time.. But oh well.. The whole ceremony lasted for less than 30mins and we were handed our most awaited naturalization certificate!

Just to add, our families were allowed to take pictures while taking pledge of allegiance and receiving certificate.

I had my interview last week in Boston.

I arrived essentially exactly on time (maybe a few minutes early?). Some of the people there didn't have interviews for a couple of hours though, so that seemed pretty keen. Also, it says not to come more than 30 mins early. The waiting room was pretty much empty though - there were about 15-20 people waiting. One poor guy had not realized his green card had expired until AFTER he'd made an offer on a house. It sounded like it was going to be a bit painful!

I had to wait about 15 mins to be called, and I was the 8th person called back. They asked a couple of people to leave their spouse/support person in the waiting room.

The interview took about 40 minutes, a lot of which was going through the questions about whether I was a communist or a member of any military or had killed anyone or trafficked any people. They were inordinately interested in my speeding ticket (no point, no court appearance, just a fine) from over 10 years ago. That's been the only thing close to a brush with the law I've had!

She asked me:

Which group of people were bought to American as slaves?

Which is the highest court in the land?

Who is the Vice President?

How many amendments to the constitution are there?

Why did the colonist fight the British?

She also refused to look at all my tax returns I'd printed out, and didn't need to see my marriage certificate original (that I'd hunted high and low for!!). She did look at it when I asked her too, but didn't want the tax returns at all. She did ask for birth certificates for both of my (American) children. She also looked through all my old passports and noted all my visas and dates of entry/exit. So glad I kept them all!

At the end she gave me the paper that said I had passed, and to wait a couple of weeks for the letter with the oath ceremony. So close now!!

I used an app on my iPhone called Citizenship 2016 that helped with me and the CD really does help.

Passed my interview today! Will wait for the oath ceremony schedule in the mail.

Here's how my interview went:

Arrived 15mins before my schedule. Was called in close to an hour because for some reason my paper wasn't checked in even if I did. Was asked to swear in then the only document he asked were my IDs and passport. I brought an envelop full of papers. Lol He first asked and verified some basic personal information and some yes or no questions. I was then asked to read a sentence then write it down. For the civics test he asked the ff:

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence

Who's the commander in chief of the military

State that borders Mexico

Name 3 original colonies

I can't remember if he asked me 4 or 6 questions coz I can't remember the other 2 questions now. The interview took more or less 15mins and he apologized for the long wait. I was then told to wait for the schedule for oath in a couple months.

It's almost 5 years since I entered the US through K-1. Can't believe my visa journey is almost over now. Hope everyone's application goes smooth and quickly as well! Good luck!

I had my interview today. It was a very good experience. I don't remember all the questions asked but I got them all right from the top of my head so the CD and app on my phone really helped. I did pass as well. I am just waiting for my oath ceremony letter in the mail.

Thank you for sharing that link! I was also wondering about the IOE (and someone had mentioned that a few days back, too), with the reasoning that IOE meant e-file... though we did not e-file. Now I understand that it's how USCIS processes the petition, that THEY e-file it. Makes sense!

I think the method behind the case numbers may have changed, though. For example, that site says the first two numerical digits are supposed to stand for fiscal year, but our first two digits are "09"... so that's not possible. The next 3 numbers are supposed to stand for working day of the fiscal year, but ours would be way off there, too.

I was looking at my case number for my removal of conditions back in 2011 and everything on that page was the same. So I am guessing with the n-400 they must be random.

Hi everyone I would sooner consider myself an April filer.

Housing was one of the major factors in our decision, too.

We're both pretty much at the start of our adult lives - this is our first marriage, we're both in our mid 20s, in work but neither of us in any fantastic career, no kids or dependents - and we weighed up the pros and cons of me moving to the US, or her moving to the UK.

I have no real gripe with the UK, I live in a very nice place in North West England with plenty to do, but the cold, stark fact is that the US offers a far more amenable environment to get started as a little family. Where I live, we'd be looking at the thick end of £100,000 to get ourselves into a postage stamp of a terraced house in a ropey neighbourhood. Just saving for the deposit would take us a very long time.

Meanwhile in Indiana, it's no housing utopia, but places are a lot more realistically priced for a new family starting out - you can get a modest two-bedroom detached place with a little garden for about £30-50,000. Other essentials like petrol and energy are slightly lower, too, which always helps. (But some things are a lot more - try and get internet access for £15 a month in America!)

Aside from financial concerns, I really don't have that much keeping me in the UK. My work in radio is unstable, poorly-paid, bad conditions (no holidays, no sick, no notice) and makes a Saturday job at Poundland look like a glittering career, so I have no real qualms ditching that even if it takes me a little while to find work in America.

I was cynical when I first went over there, but having been back and forth for a few months, I'm really starting to warm to it. I like how you can generally drive down the road in rural Indiana without some tool in a BMW six inches from the back of your car, for instance. And sitting out at night with a drink watching the stars is wonderful.

It's a very big life decision, but I'm hoping I've made the right one.

Im with you on the housing situation. Im from the North West of England (Wirral) we closed on our first house last Friday. There is no way I would of been able too get a house in Englands. As you said your looking at a 100k for a two up two down terraced house with out a garden. I paid half of that for a detached 3 bedroonm house with a nice size front and back garden and its nice.

Theres a few things I miss about England but there is no away im coming back.

I have vonage I pay $12.50 a month for local and long distance and calls to England. If you been with vonage for 12 months call and do a deal.

I have a 0151 number for family to call me. Vongage call it a virtual number thats $5 a month.

Well yesterday I when getting the mail out the mail box I had received my new greencard. A few hours later I got a text message and and email saying my case had been approved on the 7th of April and got my greencard the next day.

I am so happy to have out USCIS out my life for quite a while.

Got approved today! I received an email and a text. No letter yet.
