  1. It's been so long since I was in VisaJourney, but findingdeb added me to her friends. Ican't even navigate around the site anymore. And I don't know where my timeline stopped, but it was more and more hassle. I just kept fighting and trying everything. After 2 years I think they just give in. We got the visas. Watson and Tarloh arrived Oct 30, 2006. We were married Dec. 9. Watson actually got his citizenship last month, July 2010--what a fantanstic day. We are still waiting on Tarloh's (his daughter) which was supposed to be a quick turnaround. Really, try everything you can think of and realize that even when you don't hear a word from the Ghana embassy, the file is still there. I hate to even try to remember those days. But its a matter of time and persistance.Keep writing emails, even if they aren't answered. Write your Congressmen. Just keep trying. We had huge hurdles, but finally made it. Much time and money. Setbacks with the wrong forms. DNA testing. I have a friend Reggaedancing, who was married. We both got done in two years. It didn't seem to matter, married or fiancee. Watson is working as a CNA and is going to go to school to upgrade his skills and salary. We're quite happy. Be sure to keep all your documents together--you have to produce them over and over w each new form. Good luck to all!

  2. Hi. Long time since I've been here. I never updated my signature. Watson and Sweetie came over on Oct 30 '06. W and I married on Dec. 9 '06 so we just had our anniversary. Watson is working on his CNA certificate and plans to go to school for an LPN next fall. Sweetie is in 7th grade. We're very happy. Hope all is well w all the old Ghana gang.

Hi Boaz. Your's is the only name I recognize here. Have had contact w African Queen--doing well. I hink Peter&Dana are doing well from one post I found. I email Raggae, but we haven't communicated in a long time. Wonder about All4K and Kanyiri (sp?).

  4. Peggy....Wow....I am absolutely overjoyed for you, Watson and Sweetie. This is some fabulous news that I am so incredibly happy to hear about. You are one of the "old-school" VJers like myself and I am so happy to see that they finally granted a visa. We've talked about your case and all the twists and turns in the road and it is so good to see that it turned out favorably! Fannnntaastic!

So good to hear from both of you, African Queen and All4K!

Watson and Sweetie fly in Monday evening. I'm so excited.

All4K, hang in there. I think eventually they just get tired of your case and give up.

  5. :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I'm SOO excited for you!!! I can't believe it!!! You have been so patient and waited for so long. I guess the congressman finally helped in the end.

Now bring them home as soon as you can! My prayers are with you all.

    So excited!!!

    Kanyiri

    :D:D

Good to hear from you, Kanyiri. It looks like things are going well for you--great.

  6. Thanks to all of you!

Watson had to wait one year before they finally did the DNA test, then we waited for the results. We tried to prepare for everything we could think of including getting an affidavit from Sweetie's Mother that Watson was the fatherr and giving up all her rights

before she Left for Liberia (They didn't use this). He had an

appt. for this Nov., but my Senator sent an email with a quote from a CO that he "could come in Mon, Wed...( I don't actually remember what days) to check on the status of his case." So Watson used that email as a paper to wave in front of the guards to get in early. They gave him the blue paper, then last week they said they coudn't find his fingerprints, so I wasn't hopeful for this Friday, BUT I'll be, they actually gave him the visas.

The guards all knew him by then and were congratulating him.

Oh yeah, the lab said they were 99.99 per cent sure he's Sweetie's Dad.

So finally on to the airplane.

  7. All4K,

I'm still here. I haven't been on VJ in months and just stumbled onto your post. I'm so sorry.

After 1 year of waiting, Watson and Sweetie got their DNA tests and I've received a letter from the lab that he is 99.99% the probable father. Duh and Sigh.

Nov 9 he has another interview which we are tending to get optimistic about; I hope not too much.

    PM me.

  8. Really, All4 this sounds like Some progress even if it does go to August. Our appt dates are getting longer and longer in between.

Watson has yet to be contacted about a DNA test. His next appt is July 18. I wonder if he's ever coming.

    Peggy.

    August?

    Damn that ain't right.

  9. Same stuff in Accra. They want me to get a "schedule from the DNA lab" for them--it's nuts. The kit arrived there Aug. 29. Once again Watson could only talk to a clerk though he asked to please talk to a CO. They added the new twist that they have no medicals from last fall. He had all the receipts for the medicals and the FedEx confirmation on the DNA kit, but he was just waved away. Next appt is July 18-"awaiting schedule..."

Contacting Senator Talent again and will try the DNA kit company again.

    Peggy

  10. I hope that everything finally goes well for you.

    Kanyiri

Thanks to everyone. I don't visit VJ much, but Reggae said this thread was here. I appreciate all your kind thoughts and prayers.

Watson says he feels very calm and as always is fasting and praying.

i hope something good happens on the 9th; I am beginning to lose heart. Watson's file is pink and I'm afraid that just means NO.

My Senator has written them a strongly worded email. But all I received from the OIG was a form letter referring the case back to the Bureau of Consular Affairs (the same bunch I've already had contact w 3 times) and I sent them a copy of the OIG letter anyway. I've run out of ideas. Condi certainly won't care.

I can't afford to go back to Accra now; I've been helping my son who has had a horrible year. We bought him a car on friday and some interview clothes earlier in the week so I now he can get down to business and find a job.

    Thanks again.
