  1. You will have your I-94 in your passport when you go to your AOS interview. They will remove that from your passport at your interview. The I-94 that you have in your passport at the time of your interview may be different from the one you have now, if you left the U.S. and returned.

You send in a photocopy of the one that is in your passport at the time you apply for AOS, but that may not necessarily be the one you will have in your passport at your interview.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Good luck.

Thank you for reply. So, I guess it is not a problem that I present a different I-94 from what I have now at the interview?

  2. Hi, everybody!

I am going to visit my family soon using the AP. I know that when I depart I must surrender current I-94 form (in my case stamped with K1 admission for 3 months) at the airport and when I return they will give me a new one. So, my first question:

I wonder what admission status they will put on the new form. And how long will it be valid in the situation of pending AOS?

Also, I had to submit a copy of my current (K1) I-94 form with my AOS application, and I am supposed to bring all originals of submitted documents to AOS interview, including the I-94.

So, my second question is: how can I surrender my (K1) I-94 at the departure if I will likely need it for the interview? I am confused with this process.

    Your input is appreciated.

    Vera.

  3. I got a letter today from USCIS saying that they cancelled my AOS interview due to "unforseen circumstances". They are sorry for any inconvenience and will notify me later.... And this is after the AOS interview appontment letter I received just a few days earlier this week. Did anybody have a similar experience????

I have the same situation but what I did is infopass and after 3 days I got a new schedule for the interview.

Did you get another date because of the infopass? What did they tell you at the infopass appointment if I can ask? Another thing is that I was going to see my family since they approved my AP. Now I don't know wht to do. But I doubd they would reschedule it earlier than the first one...

The officer called the main office and they said I have to wait for my new schedule and then 3 days later I received mine.

I see. I tried to go thru USCIS website procedure to make the appointment last night but none of the 4 appointment options (reasons) offered seemed to fit my situation. Could you tell me which one you used?

I would call them and ask what the "unforseen circumstances" are...

What are the chances to get thru to talk to a live person there and hear something informative?

  6. Guys,

Thank you a lot for your comments. "Back to Russia!" that's exactly what I thought. Why did I even hope that consulates must be different? So naive... Anyway, since I cannot travel outside the US right now I'm just gonna wait for my EAD and AP and then try again. Hopefully they won't get any other new rules by that time.

I agree that the name change is extremely complicated and I wouldn't do it if my maiden last name was easy. But it is "Dvoryanskikh". It sounds great in Russian but I have not met any native English speaking person so far who could spell or say it correctly. I'm proud of my husband who was able to learn it by heart and say it right! :) But I thought since I am going to live in this country I better take his last name which is much easier to deal with....

    Anyway, thanks again, Vera.

  7. Hi, everybody!

Did anyone have similar experience at this Consulate trying to put a stam into international passport about new married name?

Today I wend to Russian Consulate in Houston, TX hoping to get a stamp into my international passport shoing my new married name. I had a certified copy of marriage certificate with me. Well, they refused to do it saying that I must present any American official photo ID, such as Green Card, Drivers Licinse, etc. I asked why and they said that they need to verify my new last name against that official ID.... and marriage certificate is just not sufficient!!! I pointed at their own website instructions which say that "if you changed your name due to marriage you need to show marriage certificate"; and "if you want this stamp due to "accuired transliteration of your name on US documents" then you need to have a foreign ID showing that transliteration". Their reply was "yeah... but... we still prefer having your photo ID to "verify your new last name". So frustrating... I just keep thinking something is wrong with it. When you get married in Russia all you need is your marriage cert in order to change passport into new name... And I was able to get debit and credit cards, SSN in my married name here just showing the marriage cert. Yet, I cannot get this stamp in my passport????

  8. Hi, everyone!

I am filing for AOS, EAD and AP together. Please excuse me if I am asking the same questions about AP, but I couldn't find answers to them.

    1) What name (maiden vs married) to put on the AP application? I have passport is in my maiden name and I will have to buy tickets in maiden name. So I am thinking is it better to get the AP in maiden name also?

    2) What reasons (qualifications) to put in section 7 of the form? I don't have any really emergent reasons to travel back to my home country (Russia), I just wanted to be able to visit my family there in case Green Card processing takes a while. Is it enough?

    3) Has anyone indicated that they intended to use the AP for more than one trip? Is there a chance to get a multiple AP?

Thanks a lot for any input,

    Vera.

  9. Agreed.... once you have taken your vaccination record to a Civil Surgeon here in the US they will give you a sealed envelope containing the Vaccination supplement... this is what you include with your AOS packet....

    Kez

Thank you, Guys, I completely missed that part. So, do I understand right that I need to take my DS-3025 Vaccination Documentation Worksheet I obtained at my K-1 med exam abroad, locate a USCIS Civil Surgeon in my area and they will transfer information into the Suplement?

  10. Hi, everybody!

We got married in Hawaii on 07 Sept and ordered expedited certified copy of our marriage certificate right away. Today I found out that our marriage certificate has not been even entered into system and nobody knows how long it will take! I am worried about 90 days authorized stay under K-1. If I don't file fo AOS within this time frame because of the delayed marriage certificate do I need to file for I-94 extension?

Thanks in advance for any ideas,

    Vera.

  11. Dear All,

Just wanted to share our happiness with everyone: my interview on 16 August 2007 in Moscow was successful! Visa package arrived on 21 August.

Also, I highly recommend using OAO Meditsina for your medical. It is really nice high standard clinic and doctors treated me very good. Results were ready next day.

Interview was very easy. I actually had fun. There were about 6 girls and one guy being interviewed for K1 visa that day and we chatted a lot while waiting to be called in. So, that helped to release some tention. Questions asked by consular were mainly about how we met and our wedding plans. He even did not ask for any avidence like photos, letters, E-mails, etc.

    Good luck to everyone,

    Vera.

  12. Dear All,

Could anybody advise if all supporting evidence and employment letter in particular must be provided together with the I134 form for a public notary? Or you really need to show only the form? We have all suporting docs but the letter which is going to be ready in two weeks which is very close to a date when my fiance needs to mail the entire package to me. So we want to save as much time as possible. The bottomline, is it ok if the employment letter will be dated later than the Affidavit and notarization date?

    Sorry if it's confusing.

    Appreciate your responses,

    Vera.

  13. Just got this in the mail and can't tell my sweetheart because she's in bed and not answering her phone.

  14. Hi everybody!

This is the first time I am posting here although we registered and put our timeline on this website as soon as we filed our I-129F with CSC.

First of all let me share our joy with you: we were APPROVED!!!!! :) on 14 May (NOA2 date) !!!!!!!!!! and THANK YOU, Visa Journey and everybody who contributes to this wonderful source of information!

Now, let me share our experience of getting the NOA2.

Our NOA1 was dated 27 Feb 2007. Ken received hard capy on 03 March. Since then we have been wating for the approval. As you all know it gets really tough being apart so we started thinking about me coming over to the US and visiting Ken because I still had a valid toursit visa. We spent so many days hesitating over the risks involved!!!! Be sure we have read all Visa Journey posts related to coming to the US while petition is pending. Finally we decided to do it and prepared all documents that were suggested here (employer letter, letter form Ken, property docs). So, on 12 May I arrived to Houston, TX and was standing in passport control line praying. I came up to the officer. He was very nice. Ask who I was visiting. I said honestly my Fiance. He said: Oh, so you are coming on K1? I replied: No, on tourist visa. We filed docs for K1 and we are wating for approval. He had no problem with it. Asked how long I visited last time (2006 Christmas) I said 2 weeks. He aslo asked when we were expecting the K1 visa to be issued and I told him around September. That was it! No problem at all. And he stamped my passport with November date although my visa expires it July. I was so happy! After all this hesitation it turned out so easy. But if I had to do it again I would prepare all docs that I had with me just in case.

Now, let me tell you what happened next. Our case has not been touched since 03 March. On May 14 it was touched fist time! Then, on May 15 we got another touch. We were getting pretty excited and nervous! But, nothing changed on the website... until Friday May 18 when we received NOA2 by mail in our post box!!! And, note this: today is May 22 and USCIS website still says that our case is pending and Ken did not get any E-mails from them on the aprroval! I guess this is just another one of their many delays but I do not care much about it now since we have the hard copy in hand! :) And we are so happy that we got our approval during my visit to the US and we had a chance to celebrate it together!

That is all for now. Just wanted to share our experience with all of you. Maybe it will be helpful for somebody.

    Best wishes to everybody,

    Vera.
