  1. Hey guys thanks a lot for all of the input. I really appreciate your the thoughtful advice and insights. I think I'm really feeling all the "i want to go out stuff" at this point in time because I've never really gone out since I was legally able to. I was always in at home, even when friends invited me out. I think that's why I'm always wanting to go out now. It's not his fault, more so mine, because I didn't know how to balance having a long distance relationship and having my own life.

But anyhow, I feel like I'm doing the right thing and that if things between us were meant to be, they will happen again later on down the road, but for now I enjoy being single and living for myself. (first time I've done that!!)

Thanks again for the time and thoughtfulness of your guys' posts. I really do appreciate it!

I hope you all have a smooth speedy ride for the rest of your visa, adjustment of status and finally settling in journeys :)

I will definitely come by and have a chat once in a while, you guys are an awesome bunch and I hope the best for everyone.

  2. Thanks Jezz and Girlfromoz! :)

I really do appreciate the input.

Jezz, you're right, I have told him to try to come on a different visa. He's going to try to come on an employment based visa so that we can be together without the pressures of getting married. I told him straight up that, it's the marriage that I don't want to deal with, and not him.

Girlfromoz, I have been thinking about telling him to go through with his interview and just get the visa. But then I realized, if he does come over, I am the type of person that really can't be true to myself if it hurts someone else. If things weren't working out, I'd be too scared to tell him that and see him off to australia again. I just don't think 3 months is enough time for us, especially since we are still extremely young. So we decided together that we shouldn't finish up the interview process and find another way to have him come over. It will make for less hurt feelings later on.

One of the biggest reasons I had to call it off was because, for the past 5 years, I've really only been in a relationship with one guy...Corey. And more than half the time, it was mainly online. I wasn't getting out with my friends or anything. I've started to do that, and I really enjoy it. Spending time out, doing things other 22 year olds do is so much fun! I mean for the first time ever, I was drunk like 2 weeks ago and I'm 22!! That played a big factor in calling things off. My parents/family and his family think I did the right thing. They didn't think we were ready for marriage, but they just never said anything because they believe that it's my life and my decisions. So I am thankful for having family like that.

But yeah, maybe later on down the road, we will be together again but for now.. I really am not ready for marriage. He knows that if he comes over on a different visa, we can definitely start over, but until then we're both going to be single. He's definitely looking at other options though, that's for sure. It's just going to be a bit harder..and lots longer but it should pay off in the end.

So if i cancel my k1 now.. how will that affect my chances of using it again with him later on down the road? I don't see myself getting involved with anyone else overseas again, so I'm not too worried, but what if we decide we want to use it again say..5 years down the track?

    All opinions welcomed!

  3. Hey you guys,

I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give a little update. I have just recently canceled our k1 petition less than 15 days from our interview date. I know it's crazy, but as time went by, I realized more and more that I am still barely only 22 years old. I really don't want to get married. I love Corey and all, but I just don't feel as if I'm ready for marriage. He tells me that we can see if we're really right for each other when he comes for the three months if he uses the k1 visa, but I told him that it wasn't really that much time. I just don't think for us three months is long enough.

I told him that if he were to come on any other visa, we could definitely start over, but for now I really don't want to feel the pressure of getting married within 90 days. I just don't like having my life planned out like that, I feel as if I'm still too young to have everything so planned out and on track, I want to enjoy myself for a bit longer.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their generosity and kindness on this board. You guys were more help than ever! I wouldn't have been as successful in this process this far into it without you guys. I want to thank Kath especially, she was always on her tip toes to jump at answering my questions and I really appreciate it! *hugs Kath*

But yeah, you guys can give your opinions if you want, i really don't mind. I have to fax over a written letter asking to cancel the petition soon. I haven't done it yet, but I have to find a fax machine.. that will allow me to fax internationally. But yeah..sad that our interview would have been in a few days..

    Love you guys!

I hope all of you have a quick and easy visa journey :)

    Lynn

  4. Hey guys update! :)

Yesterday Corey got Packet 4 and we got our interview date!!! Woot.

His interview is in a....week. It's scheduled for the 4th of May!

I thought they give you like a month's notice?!

But anyways, he won't be able to make that one so he's rescheduled to the 30th of May.

I don't know why we only got barely a week's notice of the interview date. We only sent out our checklist like a week before lol. I saw other people post their interview dates before we received packet 4 and theirs were for around the end of May as well. I think the consulate wants to get rid of our case, I email them too much ;) haha!

But yay! We have an interview date!

He's going to the doctor's on Tuesday for his medical as well. Things are about to get rollinggggggg!

  5. whooo hoo jess fantastic

ohh wake him up its important lol im sure he wont mind lol

so ya ready for it jess...

ok you lot who else is waiting for their interview notices

seren have you heard anything yet...

moonie...rings where you at in the journey...

so rapt for you jess ...

    good luck

    kath

No we haven't heard anything. We only just sent our checklist off probably last week. I emailed the consulate and asked if they received our paperwork but haven't received the checklist. But once the checklist comes in, we will get an interview within a month's time.

I'm not too worried about the visa at the moment(Oh my! I bet I'm the only one not worried about it! haha) The end of my semester is almost here and I've had sooooooooo much work/projects/examinations to worry about, I just don't have enough worry in me to worry about the visa as well. I've been staying up till 4am to do schoolwork! Insane, I tell ya.

    How have you been?

    How's the husband? :)

  6. Hi All,

Thank you so much for your all kind thoughts, your support for my chocolate habit (some more than others :P ) oh and the visa journey  , making me laugh, sharing your experiences and your lives and pitching in with useful information when you can, listening to vents  . I am so happy that I found this forum and get to hang out with such a thoughtful and sweet bunch of people. Maybe it's corny of me to say but I feel genuinely lucky to have met you guys and been able to talk and share our journeys.:blush: I wish you all happiness and speedy journeys where ever you are in the process.

As for me......Kath you are so right! Big stomping elephants in my tummy now!!! Roller coast of emotions, sadness about leaving my family and friends...excitement about being with Jake.......anticipation about my new life in the USA. Jake has been so sweet, he is nesting and has been shopping...yes shopping!! for things we need for the apartment. He talks so excitedly about what he's bought and done...makes it all worthwhile! :luv:

I fly to Sydney at lunchtime tomorrow and head off at around 4pm. I'm very tired so I am hoping to sleep most of the way. Will arrive at JFK early Thursday morning USA time and then get to Colorado about 8pm Thursday night.... I will let you know how I go getting the temp EAD. Thanks for the weather guides Paul, Kath and Vylex. Will be wearing my winter woolies although that could be a problem through Bangkok!

Guess I will talk to you all from the other side!

    Hugs

    Lyndel

    OMG! So excited for you!!!!

Have a safe trip!! Even though you probably are on the plane at the moment. Oh god the plane ride to America is pretty long/crappy. The plane ride to Australia is eassssy though!

I hope you land safe and sound :)

    <3

Can't wait to have you as a fellow Ameristralian ;)

  7. Poppendeck is poopenoff today. hah. I'm way too immature for you guys.. I should just leave haha.

Nah, Corey got his medical pushed back to May 1st. It was suppose to be today :(

    Blah.

Didn't someone else have theirs pushed back to the first as well?

  8. hi seren

    yw you know that

hang on mate....has there been an added authorised physician to do the medicals...

cos when i went for mine there was only monash medical clinic and the one i went to in melbourne in bourke street..what is the doctors name...dr. poppenbeck i went to in bourke street and he only just moved there a week before i went for my medical back in march 29th 2006....

can you let us know all the doctors that was on his sheet ....im just a bit concerned at the moment mate...

    kath

Hah.. Sorry for the confusion! I don't know where I got "St.Kilda" from. He's going to Dr. Poppendeck.

Omg. I am so immature, everytime I read his name, I giggle! I hope I'm not the only immature one... who giggled at his name.

He was only able to tell me the Dr's name. He had to run off to work at 7:30am hehe. So I didn't get a street, but the name is just as good as the street I suppose hah. I'm all confused. ;O

  9. Omg, thanks so much Kath!

You are truly a lifesaver from the first day i signed into the forums you were behind me!! :)

    *hug*

You have put me at ease!!

okay, even though he hasn't had an appointment letter, he will still be able to get his medical.. thank you for answering that on my other thread. I didn't think any aussies would be on at this hour. I hope he has the same experience as you and doesn't have any trouble because he doesn't have his appointment letter.

Corey's getting his done with the physician at St. Kilda. The lady on the phone told him it would be $300 for medical, x-ray and the blood work. I'm guessing that the x-ray is done in that office then if he's paying for it all there. The lady also told him to bring exact cash.

Thanks so much for responding kath!!

Have you had any progress with the volunteer thing at the hospital?

  10. Hey guys,

My fiance has a medical examination this upcoming Tuesday (17th). I have been extremely busy this past month and I completely forgot to check up on the requirements of the medical. So now it's crunch time. I have a few questions if you guys don't mind helping me out.

    1. Does the doctor have the medical forms or do we take the forms to him?
    2. Does my fiance need to bring anything with him? (passport photos? case number? passport? or anything else that I'm not thinking of?)
    3. Should he write anything on the passport photos before going to the doctor? Or should he leave them blank and have the doctor deal with them?
    4. Does the doctor fill out the forms and then hand them back to you in a sealed envelope or does he forward them to the consulate?
    5. Should my fiance call the doctors office a certain time later to make sure that the packet or xray was forwarded to the embassy?
    6. What type of questions should my fiance ask the doctor while he's doing his medical?
    7. But mainly, what should he do to prepare for the medical?

If you have the time please answer each of those for me. It'd be reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally helpful.

    Thank you guys so much!

  11. Hey guys, I know I haven't been here for a lonnnnnnng time. I apologize for not saying hi and chatting with you guys, but I've been soooooo busy with the end of the semester.

Corey has a medical on Tuesday and I want to make sure I have everything down.

What should he bring with him to the medical?

Should he bring any of his paperwork? Does he need to bring his Casenumber?

Does the doctor have the medical forms?

    Passport photos?

What kind of questions should he ask the doctor?

Does the doctor fill everything out and then send it over to the embassy? Or does the doctor give him everything to take with him to the embassy at the interview?

Should he call back at a certain time to make sure that things were sent off?

If you guys could answer that line by line it'd be really great!! I'm getting all nervous because I totally forgot about the specifics of the medical examination.

Any other information would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thank you so much guys!!

  12. hehehe more recipes!!

You guys are a busy bunch. If I wasn't so busy, I'd totally read everything. I've been skimming the past few days.

My fiance loves the chocolate hot cross buns.. so I will have to keep that recipe for later!!

    Thanks hampster

Things are going well I think? We've both been so busy, that we have barely had anytime to talk the past week 1/2! Craziness, I swear.

Hopefully it slows down so we can get these loose ends tied back up.

Hope everyone is doing well, and visa cases are going through smoothly :D

  13. Oh I was going to say Patricia, I know a way to make the pages turn into only 43...don't I Lyndel and Kath.. ;):P:whistle:

    Welcome Mel :)

hahah.. Mine's only at 43 pages too ;)

I posted my story of how Corey and I met a few pages back. :D

    We're also onliners hehe.

My story's a bit long haha. But we did meet online randomly cause he saw me on his brother's list and added me to his and started talking to me out of nowhere!! I tell myself it was fate :) And that was back in 2002! So it's been like 5 years.

And I'm really hungry at the moment. lol I just ate a sandwich as well..

  14. hi seren

take a look at some of tamazo's posts...she was asking the same questions as you are might help mate

i thought the checklist was what you had to get together for your interview...can you post a copy of what your talking about...

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=27&st=1480

hope i was some help to you seren

    kath

    ps and this one http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=27&st=1480

Aww Kath i love you even more!! Thanks for the help, I will definitely check those posts out.

I don't have a copy of the checklist, that's in my fiance's possession.

I will have to ask my soon to be hubby if there were any new doctors added in Melbourne, if so I'll update the embassy information :)

Hi Seren, WOW!!! You are so right isn't it a small world! Tell your hubby that I lived in Narcissus Ave about 6 blocks from the train station on the tennis court end of the street. It on the basket ball court side of Boronia. I loved it there it was quiet, green, lots of possums at night and I use to walk there all the time too. It's a wonder I never bumped into you! lol Knox was great too I loved the fact that you could hear the bell birds singing in the parking lot, that used to amaze me.

Yeah I sold the car last weekend so that is a huge weight lifted. Only 3 weeks to go now and counting! Very excited. Jake has booked our apartment which is available in April and I sent all my shoes today so I don't have any excess luggage to pay for now. Just packing my stuff for shipping now and cleaning out paperwork, etc.

So you are getting pretty close too now...exciting huh! Hope you get speedy appointments for the medical and police check! :)

My fiance and I met online as well, he was in Iraq at the time so we used to make up imaginary dates and pretend we were going somewhere special or we were on holidays in another country, was goofy but also very sweet. We are like two big kids together and I love the laughter that I share with him. :luv: Now I have gone all sooky!

Haha! He lives on Forest Rd. I'm sure you've heard of it ;) Oh I use to walk down to that dinky little shopping center with the "boronia mall" Corey and I would joke that it was the lamest malls ever, but we'd still always walk around in there just to pass time. (He doesn't have a car, so we'd just walk down there haha otherwise I'm sure we wouldn't have spent our time at that mall).

I saw a possum out in his tree once! First time I ever saw a possum in person. For some strange and immature reason I wanted to throw something at it cause it just kept staring at me. They have a patio on the second floor and there were trees all around in his backyard so the possum was at eye level with me. Trust me, it was only an urge! I didn't and wouldn't have ever thrown something at it! haha.

How could you go without your shoes for 2 weeks!! I'm a shoe fanatic too. I have over 50 pairs and it's still growing! I'm just like you hehehe. That's a brave thing you're doing, sending off your shoes without you ;) But it does make sense so you don't have excess luggage.

How far along are you packing wise?

And when you go all sooky over someone, that's when you know you really love them ;) When you can just smile because you're just thinking about them!

    Hi Seren

Nice to meet you! Haha, its getting very weird in here. I know knox very well as i still hang out there!! In fact, i was just there last night having coffee with my girlfriends. It is definately a small world! I used to go to school in Boronia!

Sounds like you are a lot further down the process than i am. I would be interested to see what you find out about the checklist and medicals etc. I was under the impression that we have plenty of time to get the police checks and medicals as we only have to bring them in when we go for the interview? But i could very well be wrong. Were there any instructions that came with packet 3??

I had a look last night at some of the forms that come with packet 3 and it looks pretty straightforward to fill in and i can do it pretty quickly. It will only take longer if i need my fiance to fill in the I-134 support form. Do you know if i need to send that in first before the interview?

Kath, i think this form will be easier for me as i have only lived in 3 places since i was 16!!! :)

Hey how are old are you Jltan? There were instructions that came with the packet but I can't tell you too much detail about them, because I'm not the one that's actually in possession of them. I wish I was though, I'm such a control freak haha!

I knew my bf wouldn't meet the necessary income requirements, so when the NOA2 form came through, I had already started up collecting my income evidence as well as get my stepdad to get started on his. It took about a week for us to get our stuff together (a day for my stepdad lol, our credit union was very helpful and quick!) And I sent off the whole packet for him last week. He should be getting it sometime soon.

It is pretty fast to fill out those forms, for some reason my soon-to-be-hubby took like 4 hours doing it. First he wanted to write it out, (which i told him he shouldn't) then he realized it was better to type it out on the computer (of course when I mention it he doesn't want to do it lol) and then he took even more time because he wanted to be really careful about everything (this part is okay hah). But I'm sure it won't take you guys too long. We filled out our DS156 pretty fast. No hassle in that one.

My bf went to get his fingerprints done, he called on a Tuesday and was told that he would be able to come in the same week on Friday, but he had to work so he came in the following Tuesday. They don't seem to be as backed up as ACT is. So scheduling for fingerprints shouldn't be too hard. Just remember to bring your passport with you when you go do it.

He called to make an appointment with the panel doctor this Monday and he has an appointment for the 17th of April. I hope that gives you an idea of how much time it takes to get these two things done. (No difficulties so far thank goodness). And he promises me that he'll be sending out the checklist form by the end of this week, so hopefully we'll get an interview in May or something.

And I have to stop writing novels. I'm sure it's such a hassle to read something so long haha.

  15. Is the checklist thingy the form that says something like, you are ready to be interviewed and you have all the required documents.

So is that the "checklist?" Once you send that back, it verifies that you are ready for an interview correct? And then they will issue you the interview correct?

Just trying to make sure we understand everything.

We just sent back the DS230 yesterday via registered mail. But we didn't include the "checklist" because he didn't call to schedule an appt with the panel doctor yet for a medical examination. But he has one scheduled for the 17th of April and we figure that he'll have his police check by the next month as well (we sent the police application off yesterday as well).

So it's okay that we're sending off our DS230 and our "checklist" (whatever that is, until i get confirmation from you guys what it is lol) at different times right?

    Thanks guys!

    Lynn

  16. Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jo and i was invited to this thread by Kath (thanks Kath!! :) ) I'm from Melbourne and my fiance and i have just received our NOA2 on the 20th of March for the K-1 visa. I am hoping that there are others who are also from Melbourne in the same boat as us with hopefully similar timelines who may be able to give me some advise on what i should do next.

Hope to hear from you all soon

    Jo

    Welcome Jo!!

My soon to be hubby is from Melbourne as well. I've visited for a total of 9 months so far, and I fell in love with it! I hope you the best on your visa journey. We can definitely try to answer questions you may have through the process. I know I've asked a bunch and everyone was very helpful. :)

    Hi Jo,

Welcome to the Aussie Forum! Everyone is great in here, very supportive so feel free to ask if you need any information. :) Btw I used to live in Boronia not far from you. Am living in Canberra with my parents now until I go in April!!! Yay!! :D

Both yours and Pris's stories of how you met are lovely. It's funny how things happen, I love hearing how couples have met on here.

    Cheers

    Lyndel

Lyndel!! My soon to be hubby lives in boronia!! I use to walk around there all the time. When everyone was at work, I use to go to Knox and hang out at the Coffee Club! I love that place. Especially their mochas. heheh. Their food was especially good too. He probably lives about 3 blocks from the train station in Boronia. That's so freaky how the world seems so small these sorta details are so cool, realize how close knit everyone in this world really is.

Aww you didn't comment on my details of meeting haha (just kidding!). Mine wasn't that great anyways, it was all online. :P

Did that one girl decide to buy your car? She seemed to be in love with it when you described how she was when she saw it. I hope she took that burden off of you one less thing for you to worry about before moving over!

I bet you're tons excited huh? About two weeks left isn't it?

    Lynn

  17. I have another question guys.. lol

    here it says:

"Other Forms (if any)? 1. processing fee receipt: AU$130 for each applicant. Go to any post office , pay the fee, and obtain one receipt for each applicant, attached to the outside cover of each passport. Valid passport (and any expired passports bearing United states visas)"

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=Sydney

So do we go to the Post to pay this fee before the interview? Or do you do this after you have received notice that you've been approved for a visa?

  18. Try the second blue bar on the top. The darker one. The 5th catorgoy is Embassy links. That should take you there.

I tried that before posting the topic.

I couldn't find the example of the documents at the embassy website. If it's there it probably involved a lot of linking from other pages and that's probably why I didn't find it.

The link showed everything that was included in Packet 3. The checklist, the cover page that they send out, the instructions and everything.

It did the same thing for packet 4.

I would like to see these documents because my fiance has received his packet 3 and I would like to be able to read the same things as he's reading. Although the document is from the Poland site, it was mentioned that it pretty much resembles all the packets that are sent out from all the embassies.

Nevermind.. I found it but it's no longer there.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=306

    http://poland.usembassy.gov/poland/packets.html

  19. Hey guys,

I remember coming here and getting a link to the US Consulate in Poland which had an example of all the papers that come with packet 3 and then packet 4.

I've been searching and I can't seem to remember where that link came from.

If someone knows what I'm talking about and has a link to it, if you could please paste it in a response it'd be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks much!

    Lynn

  20. Yeah we completed an affidavit of support and got it notarized already. We included that in the packet that I sent off today. I didn't meet income requirements so my parents filled one out for me as a sponsor. I included my I-134 as well as my stepdad's.

I don't know what supporting document it asks for to be honest.. I just read the guidelines from VJ that listed things I should send over to the beneficiary.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

^Scroll to the bottom it lists things that the petitioner should send over to the beneficiary. I followed those guidelines just wanted some clarification from others who have gone through this the type of evidence they sent to the beneficiary for the interview.

    And if you go here:

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=Sydney

It's specific info about the Sydney Consulate. I found it VERY useful it pretty much summarizes a lot of things into very understandable terms. I didn't even know it was there till some very kind person directed me to it :) If you haven't checked it out, you should it's very helpful :)
