  1. RichMichelle;

    Thank you very much for the response! Just to update, ultimately, we were able to get the letter in Lazaro Cardenas Michoacán from the state police office, but it took so doing; they stated that the process now requires a specific request from an official identity or company and it's a 2 step process; 1)approval for the request and 2) the letter itself. Fortunately, a friend of a friend in the police office helped and we got a letter from a business in the city of residence for the request approval and then the letter; took about 4 hours after the request approval (and NP$196.00), but she previously had made 3 trips to the state police office with no success. Seems that they're too busy with other things to be concerned with it, but with the contact on the inside, we got the attention we required.

    Her (my fiancé) consulate interview was in Juarez on 1/24; everything went smoothly and her visa was approved! Just a stressful process, to say the least but this part is now concluded, whew! Again, I appreciate your reply and I hope that things went well for you guys also! Saludos!

  2. My fiancé in Mexico is have trouble receiving her police certificate (Carta de no antecedents penales). She lives in the state of Michoacán. The state police department is stating that she must have a letter from USCIS requesting the certificate, however USCIS does not issue these. Has anyone experienced similar problems? If so, what did you do to obtain the certificate?  We understand that traveling to Mexico City for a Federal Certificate may be an alternative, but we hope to achieve this at the state level as it's a long way to Mexico.

    Any help or shared experience is deeply appreciated!
