Well, although you are correct, but the amount of agony a person has to go through to get the GC replaced especially when it is following the ROC's stressful 4 months.
And to top it all, USCIS will never admit it was their fault for not even sealing the envelop and ambientgirl will have to pay for replacement.
If that happened to me, I think I would've become and instantaneous smoker

Come on, ambient girl: the main part is that you were approved... so what if you lost GC? You could just apply for replacement.
I'm not complaining - just telling my story
I wouldn't had been the one to had lost the Green Card - as it could had been just an empty envelope that we received. LOL
That would be funny to apply for a replacement card that we never received. LOL

Reading what you said about the envelop is like being at a horror movie....
Horror movie - indeed!
When I saw it open my first thought was that it was missing but I quickly felt the envelope and felt the card so I was relieved.
I mean the envelope does NOT say immigration, but the Vermont address is visible, so I knew what it was when I saw the address BUT to someone else, they probably would had thought it was a credit card and could had easily taken it. So glad that didn't happen.
One more step to go - Come on N-400 - counting the months. LOL

Received Hubby's Green Card TODAY!
The envelope is dated 12/31. Now for some SCARY news.... The envelope was never sealed! I have a perfect, never licked, never moistened, not ripped envelope with flap completely intact just flapping away with my other mail. Not even tucked into the envelope! Wide open!
We are so lucky that no one took the card out or even worse fallen out of it's envelope in route to us. I guess they were trying to get them out so fast by the end of the year that they didn't bother to seal it??? Hopefully, ours was just a fluke and missed the sealing process in the machine or by hand?
I'm just happy to report that it has ARRIVED. ( and I got to see hubby's card before him, LOL )
Oh wait - One more funny thing to say - When we received our first Notice that the Green Card was approved and being mailed out - that letter was sent to our OLD address - which was ok because it's my parents address. So, I've warned my parents to keep an eye out for his Green Card.
Well, the Green Card arrived today at our NEW address (been living here for almost 2 years) LOL
I have no clue what they are doing in Vermont - just makes me laugh.
Hope everyone gets their card soon.

Just think, it's almost over. Look at how far you have come over the past few years. It is amazing at how all this paperwork and waiting can get the best of you at times but once its done you kinda laugh about your craziness and prepare yourself for the next step. Not sure if you will be going for citizenship next, which I think we will be able to apply for come this Summer. Which means that a year from now we will probably be waiting for an interview date and/or an oath ceremony date or even be completely done with this whole immigration fun. Yay! Then we can breathe a big sigh of relief that its official over and done with. My hubby was already reading about the citizenship test and taking the practice test online last night. lol
Looking forward to seeing your approval date updated on the site.
Come on VSC - let's make this a wonderful holiday season for everyone and get those approvals out asap.

You and I filed days apart and we just got our approval yesterday in the regular snail mail. I was really excited as it was hubby's birthday so a nice surprise. Still haven't received an email notice or update on website but I don't care cause we have the letter in hand. Yay!
I'm sure your approval will be any day now. Hang in there. I know how anxious we all get, especially so close to the holidays and end of year. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you and everyone else will hear some good news.

UPDATED
We got our Approval letter in the mail today. No email, No text, No update online - but received a letter from Homeland Security Congratulating hubby on removal of conditions and to expect Greencard in 60 days. The letter was dated 12/10/09.
The funny thing is the letter went to our first address (which happens to be my parents house). We did change our address over year ago but still manage to receive notifications at both addresses. So, no idea which house the greencard will show up at. lol
The best part of this is that it was received TODAY - which is Hubby's Birthday. The best present you could ever get.
Hang in there everyone - looks like VSC is finally moving and trying to get them out by the end of the year. Yay!

Just a questions for those who had experience on the I-751, my mailing address is different than the pernament; will the rest of the notification letters go to mailing address or pernament?

We put down two addresses on our application - One that we reside at together - and also put down a Mailing Address (my parents address - that was the original sponsor address we used)
The NOA1 was mailed to the address that we RESIDE at and not to our mailing address. I was actually surprised that it wasn't sent to the mailing address. I'm just happy we got it.

Yes, I believe you need to send a COPY of it as well.
When we filed for LOC, we included a copy of an arrest that he had in the US for a shoplifting offense. We were approved without an interview.
Don't worry much about it. Just a formality.

Yup the paperwork is confusing, as your right in that they have already seen this report, and are already aware of it for him to be approved for the 2 yr card. I can understand them needing reports since the approval date, but dont understand why you would have to resend the report again. Im not sure of the right answer to your question, personally, if it was me i would presume they meant during the two years, as anything before that they already know about. Regardless, if you do send it in just send the copy and make a note somewhere that it has already been adjudicated, and are merely resending it in.
Ya, that just confuses this whole dilemma more. lol
If it was ''ever arrested'' then you have to tick the box 'yes' - if it was within the 2 years then you would tick the box 'no'. I'm just going to have to be safe and answer Yes, and supply the information that they already have. After all, they let him in the country on this stupid incident why would they all of a sudden decide to say NO, and send him home.
Still don't see the logic in them wanting information that they already have.
Just makes you pull out your hair & gives you something else to stress about for months to come. I can not wait till he becomes a citizen, oh joy, that will be more paperwork and money! Haha

Do not send the original of this or any other document - photo copies will do and take the original to the interview, if one is scheduled.
(Notarization of copy not needed - a notary doesn't validate copies, they can only validate signatures.)
That's were I was confused cause the directions say to include an original or court certified of the arrest. I'll send the copy and produce original if required at interview.
Quick question : We do not include the fingerprints cards or passport photos as we are not overseas.? That will be done at biometrics, right?

The way I read it (I-751 Instructions) - they mean 'ever been arrested' as in at any time (not just since in the US). No age qualification mentioned.
You say this was for a fake DL - was this a traffic violation? (And no arrest?) There is a clause in the instructions for non-alcohol/drug related traffic offenses...

I also see it as a traffic offense but he was arrested and fingerprinted at the time. (probably more to scare him at the time) When it went to court he just had to pay the court fees. They did not put any points on his license. He was not banned from getting his license. It such a stupid thing he did as a teen.
You would not believe the problems we had in London. The woman tried to deny his application because of it and when she couldn't because her supervisor said it was ok, she then tried to say that I never filed my taxes and he was given a blue slip that day. I walked back up to that window and demanded her to look in his file as my taxes where there plus I filed all my taxes at the US Embassy in London as I was living there. It was a horrible experience, but she took back the blue slip and she then took my husbands passport and said ok you can leave now. Wouldn't tell us if we were approved or what. She then put a delay on his paperwork and I had to fight to get his passport back - finally, got it back approved.
I just don't want another episode like that to happen while doing the I-751. So I'm trying to make sure everything is correct. I am going to include a letter explaining his police report and how he was only 17 and has had no other incidents since then. (fingers crossed that will help)

I've been reading this thread but I haven't come across any of stories of ppl dealing with a Police Report & I-751.
My husband had a police report that we had to include when we did his immigration process. It was actually an offense that happened when he was 17 but his court date for the offense happened while he was 18. (This showed up on Police Report with all dates) His court date was actually the day after his 18th birthday but the offense happened 3 months before his birthday.
It was a fine that he had to pay, no jail time or any major crime - actually it was a fake driving license. In the UK they had paper licenses then and he used his friend.
When we had to go for the interview in London, the immigration officer actually gave him a hard time saying that it happened when he was 18 and wanting him to admit that he was 18 at the time. He kept explaining that he was 17 and not charge with any crime just had to pay the court fees. She still gave him a hard time and we had to have a supervisor come over to review this. Supervisor said no problem.
Now here we are doing our I-751 and they are asking about police reports.
My question is: Does this mean that I have to re-include this police report or are they looking for any police reports/incidents since you have entered the country?
I'm just trying to figure out the best way of handling this. Thank you in advance.

I know!!! I was sitting on the bus going home from work, and I decided to check the I-130 page on my Blackberry (pathetic) to see if anything had changed in the hour since I had last checked it obsessively. When I saw that it had changed I started grinning uncontrollably and giggling so much that the woman sitting next to me actually moved seats! A totally amazing Friday the 13th for me, as it also included the last piece of paper to sign so I can finally get my divorce settlement... been divorced for 4 months but still waiting for the money...
