I need to go for early biometrics appointment tomorrow(having a lot of trouble with taking a day off from work to go on the original scheduled date) in Hackensack NJ.

It just occured to me however that the ACS office might not be open on Saturday - has anyone done biometrics there on Saturday?

Likewise, I'm in a similar situation too, regarding having two addresses, as you can read about here on my recent VJ post:

In my situation, I am going to explain it in the cover letter, and include a separate notarized letter explaining this also.

As well, from what other VJers have replied back to me so far (by the way, any other VJers have advice about my situation too?), I plan to use the "physical address" as the place where I am living at, and the "mailing address" as to where I get the mail.

In your case, you can use the place that you are renting as your "physical address", and your in-laws address as your "mailing address", when you fill out your immigration forms.

Either way, yes, in both of our similar situations, it is confusing in having two addresses. Sigh, yet another thing to worry about with immigration.....

But as long as you explain it with your application, it should be ok with the USCIS here.

Hopefully the incompentent USCIS doesn't mess this "double address situation" for either of us!....

I am really confused however about the address we are using.

We are currently renting(and will continues to rent) so our utilitties bills and lease are on that address.

For everything else however - tax returns, employment, 401k, insurance we use my husband's parents address since it si a lot safer (you never know with the mail these days).

Do you think this would be confusing? Do we need to explain in the cover letter about it?

Anyone else in similar situation?

I feel better now; but as you said I am still afraid they would think this is weird....I hope they do understand the situation though.

I will make my cover letter as clear and detailed as possible and will include the certified letter also.

By certified you mean notarized right?

We want to use my husband's parents address because as I said it is safe.

We live separately from them but all our official mail goes there anyway.

The only documentation that shows our current address is the lease, utilities and insurance(car and rental).

Do you guys think we should state it in the cover letter?

Does it sounds a solid enough reason?

I am getting more and more worried.

I have previously filed in the USA as a non resident alien.

In US as well as in Bulgaria to be considered resident alien for TAX PURPOSES you need to have spent more than 180 days in that country. This is not the same as the immigration status. That is why I believ a lot of countries require you to not spend more than 180 days when you are entering just as a tourist. That is what I found out when I was researching for my taxes.

Another thing is insurance. If you get a car most insurance companies will not insure you if you do not have a valid US driver license.

They would insure you - at least all the ones we checked - but they will make sure your driving licence is internationally accepted - I think they refer to that Road Treaty sth. I read on the NJ MVC site. So we did get joint insurance, just the price was a ltl higher.

What could it mean? RFE?or transfer back or good news? It seems that when you get a touch after a while it is one of those 3...

The day before the interview at the embassy i went through the medical examination in Italy; they gave me also 2 shots, one in each arm for Varicella, MMR and diphteritis; they also made an HIV test ( i had to pay extra money for all those shots and the test). When i came to the USA i gave the envelope to the immigration officer at the airport, i could keep only the chest x-rays. Do i need now the I-693a by a civil surgeon or not?

Although some people have just sent part of their original medical, according to the rules - yes, you need the supplement I-693A from a sivil surgeon (hope you have a copy of your medical on you).

Btw I just thought of this, it may seem stupid, but anyway - the 6 month period in which they have to decide on your green card - does it start all over again after you are transfered or is it from the date on your NOA1?

How long you have to wait until you are considered residents varies as others have said, but one thing is sure - you do need to have a green card to even be considered before they chack how longyou have lived in the state.

At least this is my impression from the schools I have asked.

Our letter said "pending at the office to which it was transferred." I think a previous letter said they were transferring it to CSC.
We had a couple of touches in two days back in November, and the green card is dated four days after the last touch, but we didn't receive it until today. It could mean something. And maybe in our case they just took an extended holiday break before pushing it on through. Good luck!

Hello guys,

We have two questions -

1)when you received your e-mail update did it say that you were transfered to CSC or just transfered?

Because our e-mail update was that our case is "pneding at the office it was transfered". We know it is CSC because the snail mail letter said so...I was just curious, may be our case was not really transfered to CSC?

2) for everyone who is approved - we got three touches in three consecutive days...Does it mean something, is there a pattern with those touches?
