I called the NVC on tuesday morning the 29th and the operator told me that they had received my I-864 fee and had generated the I-864! She said it would be mailed this week and I should get it in 2-4 weeks (I am finding that this is a standard reply from NVC tho) I sent the I-864 package overnight as per James' shortcuts. I must say that I am a bit surprised that our IV fee bill hasnt arrived yet. it has been 10 very LONG days since I found out it was sent out. I am truly thankful to GOD and to all of you for the support, help and prayers that we have recieved so far. You are all in our prayers.

One Bill, $380.00.
Thanks so much for the info.
I JUST CALLED THE AUTOMATED UPDATE LINE AT THE NVC AND WAS TOLD OUR IV FEE BILL WAS GENERATED YESTERDAY! THE DS-3032 WAS GENERATED LAST WEEK AND I EMAILED (ON THE VERY SAME DAY) THE CHOICE OF AGENT INTO THEM AND IT WAS ACCEPTED THE NEXT DAY! THAT WAS ALOT QUICKER THAN I EVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. SO NOW WE ARE WAITNG FOR THE ACTUAL IV FEE BILL IN THE POST. OUR I-864 FEE HASNT BEEN RECIEVED AT NVC YET THO, THEY SAID IT TAKES UP TO 2 WEEKS TO GET IN THEIR SYSTEM AT NVC EVEN THO I SENT IT OVERNIGHT. OK, SO NOW DO I MAKE OUT 2 SEPARATE MONEY ORDERS FOR THE IV FEE BILL? IS IT 335.00 FOR ONE AND 45.00 FOR THE OTHER OR IS IT JUST ONE FOR 380.00 TOTAL? THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP THUS FAR. -

Our timelines are exactly the same at the moment ... so I guess hubby and me don't have to call about our I-864 yet
And as far as I know it's one bill for 380 ...
Good to know we are sharing the same timeline experiences so we can have someone to compare with huh? thanks.

Does anyone know if I can apply for a fee waiver just for the immigrant visa fee? If so, where do i send it? I already have the request ready to go.
The problem you will have is if you cannot pay the visa fee based on finances, how will you prove you can support your spouse on the affidavit of support?
A fee waiver request may be granted when it has been established to the satisfaction of the CIS Officer with jurisdiction over the request, that the individual is unable to pay the fee.
http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/Fe...ver03_29_04.pdf
How To Apply for a Fee Waiver
• To apply for a fee waiver, an applicant must submit an affidavit—or unsworn declaration that is signed and dated and includes the statement: “I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct”—requesting a fee waiver and stating the reasons why he/she is unable to pay the filing fee.
• The affidavit and any supporting documentation (see above, Documentation) must be submitted along with the benefit application or petition.
• To facilitate the processing of fee waiver requests, applicants should write in large print “Fee Waiver Request” on the outside of the mailing envelope containing their application or petition and fee waiver request, as well as at the top of their affidavit and each page of their supporting information.
• If a fee waiver request is denied, the entire application package will be returned to the applicant, who must then begin the application process again by re-filing for the benefit with the appropriate fee. –
I have a very strong co sponsor. But I cant find anything about applying for a fee waiver other than at the USCIS for the I-130. I have already paid for everything except the IV fee of 380.00. Does anyone know anything more about this?

Hi,
I tried calling the NVC for the past 2 days but all operators are busy and I still dont have an answer to my question. I am using a co-sponsor for my I-864 and want to know if because I am submitting 2 of the I-864's (mine and his) will I pay 2 I-864 fees? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
I know this is strange...me answering my own question but I FINALLY got through to the NVC and found out that you only pay a one-time 70.00 fee PER CASE, not per I-864. Hope this can help someone else in the future too.
Hi I did not have a co-sponsor but as far as I know, you do NOT need to pay two fees, only one.thanks

Oh God!
I hope Vermont speed up...
C_mart you are right, not only people from 2005, but from 2004 like me
Vermont pleasseeeeeeeeeeeeee
I just learned today that my friends who have applied for an I-129 nonimmigrant work visa (H1B) on april 1st, they got an answer today that says thier case has been sent to vermont along with thousands of others for processing. This might be some of the reason for such delays since then. Just a thought. Good luck.

On the website http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/acsmarr.html, it says that "The procedure for a foreigner (e.g., an American citizen) to get married in India depends on whether the parties wish to participate in a religious ceremony or a civil ceremony. If required, the Embassy can issue a “no objection” letter to any American citizen who wishes to obtain an Indian marriage certificate." Is the "no objection" letter supposed to be given to civil court authority in India so that they can issue a marriage certificate? I am a bit confused about that process really works. Any insight on this will be much appreciated
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but i went to the delhi embassy to get my "no objection certificate" and it only took about 5 minutes to get. the reason being is that this paper is a generic one that they just write your name in the blank and it says wording to the affect that they are an embassy and its not their job to know if you can or can not get married. they say as far as they are concerned, you can!!! i was laughing so hard at this all important paper that is required to marry in india! hahahaha Then, to make matters worse, when we went to the registars office (for the 4th time) we were told to go get an attested letter from me because I had been divorced, that I swore I was divorce (even though I had the original stamped divorce decree with me!) i arrived in the country in november and we were given Jan 9th as our registar day to obtain our certificate. Hope this helps somehow. Feel free to contact me if you need any further info.

One of my friends is a US citizen and he got the traditional marriage and registered marriage done in India. After the marriage they lived together for only for 3 days and after that the spouse came back to US. When his wife went for visa interview the interviewer got suspicious about the marraige as they had not lived together for even a month. Thereafter the visa was denied.
Oh my God!!! This is scary. I am really getting worried now. I came back so quick because of my medical school. Does it help if I go and visit my husband before the I-129F gets approved. Even If I go i can't stay for more than 10 days. Or should I get some kind of documentation stating the reason why I could not stay with him for a longer time.
Thank you
If I were in your shoes and had a choice of going back even if for only a week, i would do it! It says alot to visit again after the marriage, I think. I would also obtain the documentation from your school. It cant hurt, right? Good luck.

Hi All,
Is it true that when applying for a K-3 spouse visa, the husband and wife must have lived together for at least 30 days? Also, in India the requirement to get a registered marriage done, the husband and wife need to set an appointment before at least 30 days of the registered marriage. If the sponsoring spouse is a US citizen and cannot stay in India for more than 30 days then are there any other workarounds to get the registered marriage certificate? I read on New Delhi US embassy website that the American spouse can get a "No objection" letter for marriage certificate? Does anyone have more info about this?
Thanks!
Hi,
I just married my hubby in Delhi on christmas eve last year and sad to say...YES, IT IS TRUE! we tried every which way to get around the minimum 30 day requirement but they wouldnt hear of it! i was ill and had a doctors statement stating i needed to return asap to the USA, and still, they wouldnt budge! Finally, we went to the registars office the next working day after our religious marriage in the gurdwara and they told us that they didnt even have a date in 30 days for us but since we had a legal religious marriage and had documentation in the form of a letter from the granthi who married us, they would only make us wait until an officer could go to the gurdwara and question the granthi and other witnesses! MAN, OH MAN! so we ended up waiting until jan 9th for them to sign our marriage certificate/license!

My husband got his PCC from both police offices and passport office WITHOUT the interview letter and he had no problem.
I guess it differs from state to state.
My hubby is in Delhi and he was able to get both of his clearance certificates back when we applied for our I-130 itself. Guess you are right about the rules being different in each state.

MY QUESTION ..
1. when the NVC receive case from the USCIS,how long it take before the assign a case number.?
2. is that necessary that they need to call the NVC , in order they assign case number?
3.if were hiring attorney , who filed the DS3230,?
4. Is the beneficiary and the petitioner are needed to Fill-up that DS-3032 and send to NVC?
5. DO we need to wait till the NVC send that request that DS-3032?
i need your answer who knows about
Hi,
Check out all of the information given to us in "James; Shortcuts" there are alot of great tips there and he also explains things perfectly. Good luck.

Cover letter is not required, but it is helpful. You just basically write what documents you are attaching with your letter and it should be addressed to NVC. You can also provide your contact information (Name, Address, phone no, email address, etc) so that they can contact you, if needed.Good Morning all fellow VJers!
I have read thru and am trying to prepare to follow James; shortcuts but I dont understand about having a coverletter for the I-864 package. What is it and what does it need to say on it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks as always.
THANKS FOR THE INFO!

Hi All,
I was wondering....Will I need to pay the 70.00 fee for my Affidavit of support and an additional 70.00 fee for my co-sponsors Affidavit of support too or do I just send both into NVC with one 70.00 payment? Thanks as always.
-
Hi everyone. First, let me say that I have found so much information on this site and am very appreciative for it. I dont know what I would do with out VJ! OK, so here is another question that I am not able to find out anywhere so far. I did a searcg but still no luck.
Here is my situation...I am currently living on my grandsons specified relative grant from the state but I have applied for SSI disability and am just waiting for their decision which should be within the next month. I do have a strong co-sponsor who is filing an I-864 with me for my husband. Does anyone here know exactly what I should include in my own I-864 when I send it in? Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

Yes, Raymaga is right. You will need both of your divorce documents, either the original or the certified copies.
Thanks. What about my birth certificate? Will he also need the original of that at HIS interview?
You will need both of your divorce documents for the interview. -
For CR-1 Immigration Visa case, The IV Visa Fee is $380.00 which the choice of agent must pay at the NVC. If it is paid at the NVC, you don't pay it at the Embassy during the Embassy. The Embassy will already know that it was paid at the NVC.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFORMATION!
Hi,I was wondering if anyone might know the answers to a question which I have? I am uncertain of why the NVC asks for an IV fee of $335.00 plus the additional $45.00 and if you look under the instructions for IV interview at the NWD consulate, it too says you must bring your IV fee with you to the interview stating the exact same amounts!
Thanks
-
When it says what documents that you must bring along with you to the embassy interview, am I correct in thinking that it is only referring to my hubby (the beneficiary) in India and not to mine as well when it asks for birth certificate and prior divorce termination documents?
Thanks

this appears to be correct. if you goto the link below and choose MDR, madras india or NWD for new delhi, you'll see what you need to send.

NOT ALWAYS..........
I had an accident and require surgery so I asked for a medical expedited case. It was straight away sent to Delhi and there we received packet 3 and 4. his interview was set and we did not get our visa. He was given a form 221 asking for his ration cards and voters cards from 1990 to present. We have no idea why this happened. they never even looked at any paperwork or pics. what happens now I wonder?
