  1. Hello again,
Due to transfering our K1 case over to London and (I, the beneficiary) having to travel to the UK to complete the process, I wanted to get an estimate of how long I would need to be staying? Is it sensible to say that after packet 3 is sent, the medical, interview and recieving visa in hand will take about 2 months maximum?
    Thanks again!

    1) I asked before, where is your case file now so I don't have to give three different answers. If your case was already sent to another embassy, the procedure is to request that London accept your case. London then contacts the other embassy to request the file be sent to London.

    2) There is no residency requirements that I am aware of. You are British.

    3) Call/email Knightsbridge. I think they may require you to bring something from a GP that states you have no records.

    4) Yes to co-sponsors. That is actually a misnomer. They simply want a sponsor and it does not have to be the fiancé. One 1-134 from the person with enough income.

    5) I don't think so because you are a British citizen. It is your "home" embassy.

Not meaning to have you repeat yourself, as you may you know thinking about all of these things is a process.

    - My case hasn't been sent to the embassy yet, it is still pending a response from an RFE. Not sure who to contact before it gets sent to the embassy.

    I'll answer what I can.

    3. I've heard it's required, you're best off phoning/emailing Knightsbridge to ask.

    4. Yes, bring both I134s, they only asked for my fiancés fathers W2. I brought a ton of stuff on both of their banking/spending and tax forms. It can vary what they take, so be careful and bring all you can.

Thank you very much. Will make a call to Knightsbridge and look at everything I need to bring for the sponsor very carefully!

  4. Hello all, I've been trying to find information about experiences with transfering visa cases to the London Embassy as I have some questions (ours is a K1).

Any advice/experiences would be appreciated (N.B: I have messaged London E already, but have yet to recieve any answers):
    1) When transferring the case over, can this be done when filling out the DS160, OR do e-mails need to be sent to both embassies?
    2) I've been travelling in Asia but am a British citizen, were there any problems with eligibility?
    - (such as needing to stay in the UK for 6+ months before being resident again etc.) I called the goverment office who said all I needed was to be back in the country.
    3) Is this new GP summary required? I won't be registered with a GP? Would telling them the truth be sufficient enough?
    4) Are co-sponsors still allowed for K1 visas? We are transferring because our original embassy does not accept them (using petitioners father, fiance still a student).
    5) Is there a chance London can decline the transfer due to backlogs or just too many cases?
Thank you very much in advance!

Hi Everyone - I've been a lurker until now however I've searched throughout this forum with no luck yet on a similar situation to ours and I know how helpful these forums can be.  We received NOA2 and are awaiting a case number so we can schedule the medical however my fiance (beneficiary) has spent several years working in different countries with work visas and has not seen a UK GP in over a decade or so.  We are going to try to get some sort of record for him (if any exists) but are concerned this will prove difficult.  I emailed Knightsbridge who said if he doesn't have records, then he should go see a  new GP and get a form that says "new client, no medical history".  I can't imagine this is acceptable for a visa approval.  We do have his medical records from the other countries he's worked in.  Has anyone else had a similar situation and how was it resolved?  Thanks!

Hi there, I will be in the exact same position. Have been travelling and have no registered UK GP, will you keep me posted on how this worked out for you? Thanks.

I can answer this question from personal experience.

I changed my embassy from Montreal to London. As you're a British Citizen you only need to show proof of citizenship, so a copy of your passport will suffice. In terms of address, after I left Canada, I was helping my husband move house in the US for a few weeks, so I transferred my permanent/physical address to my parents address in the UK to avoid complicating matters with the embassy/medical.

Thank you so much for this! I was worried it complicated matters!

    Where do you live?

    What kind of passport?

    Where's your timeline?

    Who has your file now?

Has London accepted your case yet?

    Explain your plan.

I have a British Passport but I live and travelled to Asia for a while.

  7. Hello everyone,

I'm a British Citizen and getting my K1 case transfered to the London embassy.

I wanted to know if the hospital or embassy require a proof of residential address in the UK? (see my name on the property or a bill?).

I'll be staying with family but it won't be my "actual address" and worried it might cause problems.

    Thank you!
