I would wait until your I-129F is approved by NVC before completing DS-160.

When did you guys get an appointment letter for interview from Kabul?  

CEAc shows ready since yesterday.

I want to schedule his K1 interview using the NIV appointment system but I don't want to make a mistake.. he has already completed his medical and has all of our documents ready to go.

Okay, so we tried to schedule our interview before the case was actually received at the embassy but now it is definitely there and our CEAC status shows ready. Afghanistan does not use the Travel Docs website but they do have the NIV appointment system website. He has all of our documents ready to go and he completed his medical last week.

Can I go ahead and schedule his interview on the NIV appointment system??

I know the K-1 is treated as an immigrant Visa but there is conflicting information out there as to what exactly needs to be done.. it doesn't help that many of the websites are down due to Gov shutdown... 

 Kabul is terrible at responding to emails. Any information is appreciated, thank you

NVC also gave us an invoice number over the phone. When do we use it?

Yes, we completed DS-160 before Case Number. You need the invoice number to schedule the actual appointment - which for us was done online. I'm not sure how your country works though.. Good luck!!

We also scheduled medical and interview (as medical requires an interview date) prior to when we received notification that our case was in transit. I'm definitely a risk taker, but I've been studying the trends, you should be fine!

Does anyone have P3 for Afghanistan? I'm pretty sure it's all the information available on the Consulate and Medical websites but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. We were able to scheduled the interview and medical already. I've been studying and researching this process for so long now that I think I could start a small business (jk)!

We got our petition approved on 12 Dec 18 but our case has not yet made it to NVC.

I’m concerned about the threats of this government shutdown and how it might affect our process.
