  1. I'll be 1 month tomorrow here in Jacksonville Florida and i'm only talking to one Filipina i met over friendster and we haven't even met for real, just phone calls.Doe anyone here from Jax?

I lived at the westside of jax.Email me your number and I'll call you.

hi!!! I am from Las Vegas!! My hubby just got an order to Jacksonville, Florida. I am very interested to meet you!! pls PM me. We are currently in the road going to Florida. On thurs. we will be there surely. The, we will be looking for apartment somewhere close to Mayport Naval Base.

  2. Hay.. I had trouble with the DMV too. The people here were actually nice about it.. They were going to give me a state ID (I still use my Philippine license, since here I'm allowed to drive on it for a year, unless I get Permanent residence status first), but weren't sure how long it would be valid. They called the Columbus office, and THOSE people said they can't give me one because my passort and visa are in my maiden name (of course.. it's a k1 visa) and my letter from the DHS (NOA) was in my married name (Duh.. i got married), so even if I had the marriage certificate (original!) it doesn't count. The people in the local office were surprised, but.. they had to go with what was said. But at least I didn't pay them yet.

Any of the other AOS people gotten their interview dates yet? Besides Ate Luz? Just got mine today, and I'm *(@^#in scared. Stress levels just skyrocketed! Mainly because I have no idea where to get "evidence". We only have marriage-stuff, a joint bank account, and insurance. No bills, no nothing, because we live with my parents-in-law (but pay them rent) so everything's in their name. Gah. :stress:

Sis Jackie, ano balita sa iyo? Haven't heard from you in a while!

Hi sis!!!! We have been very busy lately for doing lots of packing some stuff because we are moving to Las Vegas on Fri. since my hubby got his job transferred there. Supposedly last Aug. 14 is our schedule to move out. However, i got my biometrics schedule for aug.24 therefore we cancelled our original plan. With your encountered at DMV i had the same scenario. One of the reason why we had to drove by to Phil. Embassy at San Francisco (5-6 hrs. driving from south lake tahoe) is for my passport need to be change since one of the DMV officer required it as well as for our joint accounts they want my married name to be appear exactly in my passport. They dont recognize the marriage certificate (sakit sa ulo )! we spent $50 for new passport and $25 report of marriage. One thing that is good for that DMV officer she said she would rather not to take our pay and make everything be in order on our part than to give me temporary ID and turn out wasted in the end. I will still have to wait for my greencard till I am qualified to have license.(Thank God my new passport is done). Goodluck and God Bless to all of us here.

  3. hi everyone!!! Finally i had my passport change into a new name as i got married here. we went to Phil. Emb. at san francisco california (5-6 hrs. ) driving. We paid $50 for the new passport then $25 for reported of marriage. We need to make those because we are moving to Las Vegas next week. Today, upon checking our post office box we got the mail from USCIS regarding my BIOMETRICS SCHEDULE. Its going to be on AUg. 24 at 2pm in RENO NEVADA. However, we have a certain problem in making it because my husbands' job in Las Vegas will start on Aug. 21. We are planning to reschedule it since it will be so difficult for us to go back again. Right now we have no idea how long will it takes again if we ask for rescheduling my biometrics and also requesting a new address to make it at Las Vegas. I hope anyone can provide inputs about this situation of mine. We are decided to move on Tue. night and send new address as we get to Las vegas because we are just going to find a good place there first before we can do the rest. God Bless u All!!

  4. hi just to add uP!!mine too i was positive from tb skin test since for all we know the main reason was our bcg vaccine when we were young. i had my x-ray from the civil surgeon after that and he explained everything and upon checking my x-ray result he said i am ok and nothing to worried another thing is i do nto need to have my blood test as the community clinic nurse told me that my doctor might required that if its needed. 3 days after that the office of the civil surgeon, fax the result to community clinic coz that is where i had my tb skin test. However when we went back there they still hold the result because they are insisted this blood test again. I mentioned them that the doctor itself does not require me of that coz my xray has no problem. But it still they cannot give me complete result without completing my test as well as for them to make it assure that i am not really into contagious tb ,,very annoying by the fact it was the doctors finding that i am okay then still they would still insist (those nurses from that community clinic) that its a states requirement sigh ***. the saddest part we submitted aos however without the tb skin test result bcoz the result will be given after two weeks after, On monday is my schedule for blood test for that its another $44 for that, though its cheaper compare to the hospital well better to make it done soon since we have started it there. Il just bring the result probably during the biometrics or interview.

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament and because of that, you can be certain that you will be receiving RFE because of your incomplete AOS. I am just a little confused and curious and would like to ask some questions:

    1. Why do you need to go back to the Community Clinic Nurse if you already had gone to a Civil Surgeon? USCIS only needs the I-693a (Supplement of vaccination) signed by the Civil Surgeon and if there's any comment/remarks that he need to write there about your TB skin test, that's all he needs to do and you don't need the nurse. THe Civil surgeon would only have to include a copy of the results (TB skin test and CXR results). Can you go back to the Civil Surgeon and request for the I-693a with his remarks (in sealed envelop) so you can submit that for your AOS?

    2. And may I ask what "blood test" are they requiring from you? What specific blood test they said you need for the exam?

    Thanks! God Bless!

I had my tb skin test in the community clinic first. After i returned to them to show my bumps its 15mm obviously positive for the result. They referred me to take an x-ray fr that. SUpposedly it should be in the other laboratory however my husbands' doctor is one of the accredited civil surgeon in stateline medical center therefore we told them that i can take my x-ray with that doctor since he can also provide that I-1693a. That nurse told me that there are two kind of test to be done to make sure that i do not have tuberculosis. FIrst is the one we knew the x-ray and there is this second thing which is just recently the blood test. through blood test they can determine if i i do have bacteria of that. However, it depends on the doctor if i will still have my blood test if my x-ray result is not good. We went to my husbands' doctor under his medical insurance coverage which is lucky for us under his medical insurance, the x-ray cost is $85 and the doctors' visitation is $220. through the help of his insurance we paid only $25 as his co pay. going back to x-ray our doctor told us that i do not need for the blood test since everything is fine. He just asked us to get the result after 3 days and they will fax it to the community clinic where i had my tb skin test. As they give the result, the community clinis was not satisfied still with that x-ray to provide me the result of negative from tb. They are still insisting to have blood test as a new state policy to make sure that i do not have contagious disease which is tuberculosis. They said one of the accurate teest for that is BLOOD TEST. 5. Well, it looks like our AOS packet is ready to go tomorrow, the 26th of July. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! Today, we traveled down to Licking, MO to see one of the two civil surgeons in the area (105 miles from our home) and got the rest of the paperwork done. They insisted that I take the full medical since I could not provide them all the records of the medical I had at St. Lukes. I had to explain to the attending nurse who will do the paperwork and to the civil surgeon himself that I got everything done and that all I needed is the I-693A. It was a challenge in convincing them because they laid it all out that I redo everything, otherwise, no paperwork from them. I had to show them this instruction (and good thing I was carrying it around) "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report" for them to believe me. They even had to check it to USCIS' website for confirmation. HA! ;) Finally, the nurse did the paperwork and gave me a sealed envelope for $50  . Oh well, what matters most now is I'm done assembling the AOS packet and ready to go tomorrow, which means no filing fee increase for us! Thank God, everything went smoothly for us and fell right into places. I was beginning to lose hope that we will be able to beat the target date of mailing it.

I think its terrible how some doctor's are either misinformed or just flat out try and take advantage of the new immigrant. I have followed the AOS forum lately as that is where we are now in the process. It seems quite common that Docs try and force a full medical exam on the K1's even though its clearly not needed by the guidelines. I'm sure many unknowing immigrants and their spouses consent because they trust a doctor knows best. I'm sure that is why they do it.....because they can get away with it. I'm glad you were able to stick to your guns and that they finally gave in.

I got another question, though. Do I have to include this sealed envelope in our AOS packet or will have to provide it on AOS interview? Aside from that envelope, the nurse gave me copies of what's inside it. Can somebody lighten me up on this before I mail it away???

Yes...send that sealed envelope in with the AOS packet as proof that your shots were updated. Keep your copies, but mail the sealed envelope with your packet. Mine wasn't labeled with the contents by the Doc, so I just wrote on the outside of the front of the envelope, "I-693A". Good luck!

  7. Ei Jackie, the wedding went well. Family from New Jersey drove over, so I still had family with me :) I don't think I have to rush with the SSN since as ronmay said, it won't make a difference. How's your thing with the DMV? Figured out what to do yet?

imaskin - You might have to get a copy of the DS form from back home.. or you can get a titer done here, so they can tell which vaccines you -have- gotten. And yeah, I assume there'll be fees for that - nothing's free in the land of the free. Except huge chunks of ice falling from the sky! The first week I was here, hale was reported to be the size of baseballs. I didn't know cuz I didn't go out then. :D

I didn't know about the TB skin test, though. Sent the AOS thing yesterday, but only found out about the TB skin test today. Bleh. I'll probably get it done when we have an interview scheduled... Buti na lang the CS is like 15 minutes' drive away from here! But really, if I'd known, I wouldn't have insisted that I didn't need it when they tried to make me take the test before. Haha. Oh well. (This is why I'm doing it later - hoping they'd forget that I was the one who fobbed off their attempts to ####### me with needles)

Hi Iya! They said I need to have my passport change into new one where i a, using married name. its ok il do it later better to wait for an aos approval ithen take the rest after that, Im glad to hear from u again. miss u girl!take care and give my regards to ur hubby.

  8. hi all. :)

Got married 7-7-07 as well, and just sent out the AOS package yesterday.

I had issues with the SSA guy, as he wouldn't issue me an SSN with my name bearing my husband's name, even with the marriage certificate in hand. He told me to go to Cleveland (at least an hour away, provided i don't get lost), report to the DHS, get my name changed there, get it certified, and THEN he'll change my name to my married name. Meh. But I'll be getting the SSN under my maiden name by next week, hopefully. Good thing it's not required for the AOS package, or I'd have throttled the man.

About driving... how long are we allowed to drive on an international license? I've heard 3 months, I've heard 6 months. I'm confused. and scared of driving when i'm not supposed to be driving :P I've also heard that it's state-dependent, but Ohio's BMV site is worthless! Anyone who can give a heads-up on this?

    Thanks :)

PS - Oh, I got my Td shot for 40$, and my vaccination supplement transferred for 25$. It was a close call, as no matter what I said about not needing the physical, the nurses were all like "Yes, yes, you only need the supplement.." or "Yes, but you need to do this as well.." or "I really don't know. They told us this is how to do it." while making me go through the physical procedures! But when the Civil Surgeon walked in, I said that before we start, I wanted a question answered, which was "Do I really need to do all this again? I just need my info transferred, etc etc..." So he went out, and told the nurses that the next time someone needs the info moved, they should just do it, and not trouble the patient AND the doctor. Whew!

PPS - That Td shot can be a pain. Really. Couldn't raise my arm for like 10 days! WAH!

Hi Girl! COngratulations! How was the wedding? Anyway we applied our SSN at Reno Nevada The person who assised us was really kind and he just scan my marriage certificate then asked me what must be the name I wanted to appear in my SSS CARD. I wrote my married name completely. He didnt say anything. After a week I got it and it was exactly he on I wanted to appear in my card. Anyway girl, sooner that will be settle in your sss concern. Take care sis! My Td Shot was only $10 but I am not sure hw much will be my fee for my I-693A.

  9. I had my TB SKIN TEST yesterday. by tomorrow Friday in the afternoon I will comeback to the clinic for the result it cost $25. DO you have any idea about skin tb test result?

Yes i have heard about TB skin test in the AOS section of this board. The lady from Germany got an RFE about it, though her GC was approved but she needed to take TB skin test. There was a guy that went to europe that had a TB...and they said that's why she was asked to have that test(is it because she's from europe?)...well i don't know about us(from PI). We had our chest x-ray film we'd been tested for TB...

By the way, did you get a letter from the USCIS to get TB skin test?

we are just about to file the aos then we will be submitting all including the tb skin test. i have a friend she is pinay she was negatiive in that result i hope mine too since mostly the result for pinoys is positive esp. from manila .

  10. Anyone know if there is any civil surgeon here in Oregon or Washington or Las Vegas that will only get me a Td vaccine and transfer it to I693A form...and not take me a full medical exam. I have called the what is listed on the USCIS civil surgeons ..and oh my they will not just take for one vaccine but the lady said "we take full medical exam ONLY"...gosh i already had it last May and it is valid for one year, right?

can anyone please help me if you had been to any clinic to the states i have mentioned above that does not take full medical exam?

Thank you very very very much.

Imatellin you to click on my wife's profile in my signature. Go to her signature and check out the USCIS's Civil Surgeon Locator to find one in your area...

yes i have made calls already but they tellin me to have my full medical exam. i want the one that will only get me a td shot and not the full medical exam again. huhuhuhu, i will make calls to washington or las vegas. but if anyone knows which civil surgeon that will only take me a Td shot and not full medical exam...please tell me:-) thank you very much. also...my fiance's an active US military...do they provide one for me...oh i'm out of context here. well i gotta talk to him about it when he calls me back(he's still in the warzone for a mission...soon he'll be home and i pray and hope for their safety home-coming)

Take the I-1485 AOS Application to the civil surgeon's office and show them page 4, on the left side, states, "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who hada medical examination within the past year asrequired for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, youonly need to submit a vaccination supplement, not theentire medical report. You may include thevaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application." Don't worry, most civil surgeons are high on drugs  if they think that they can swindle VJ members in order to make a fast buck. They better think twice!

that really is relieving me now Sherrif.. thank you so much. thank you too ronmay for responding. that was funny too sherrif that they're high on drugs......wow thank you...

HI! same case as me!most of the doctors i called up they are insisting the FULL MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS. Hopefully this civil surgeon as we saw his name on the USCIS list of surgeons which is luckily my husbands' private doctor will help me to provide the I-693a. We have not yet talk to him since he is out of town. The said by Monday he can have the schedule to meet us. I had my TB SKIN TEST yesterday. by tomorrow Friday in the afternoon I will comeback to the clinic for the result it cost $25. DO you have any idea about skin tb test result?

another thing is anyone here from RENO NEVADA or SOuth lake tahoe who had met a civil surgeon that wont charge too much? Thinking only for another option in case our Doctor will not agree with our request. GOd Bless!

  11. hello good day to all of you!i would like to ask regarding about the iisuance of DMV ID. Today i had my SSN CARD finally which i just applied last june 4. Its really good that I have it earlier for application of my AOS. After that me and my husband went to DMV for an ID application. However, they said that my k1 visa will expires on aug. 29, 2007. that means i will be just wasting my money if i will get dmv id coz that will tend to expire my dmv id too. they advised me to change my passport name into my married name then renew that visa. my concern is where can i possibly go to change my name appeared in my passport to be after with my husband's surname? Because until now they dont even recognized my SSS which is my surname is my husband's surname. thank you for your help. Also since I got married last JUne 16 what will happen if my fiancee visa will expire?

hi we had similar issue although mine was they didnt want me to take a dmv test knowing i dont have a "green card" yet blah blah blah (here in CO) anyways its a big hassle to change your passport especially if your dealing with both aos and phil consular (more chaos)... my opinion/suggestion is, if they wont give you a drivers license its best to wait to process your aos first and wait for your GC... by filing you could use your husbands name as your last and your maiden name as you middle (like our phil law). then worry about your passport later... its ok for your visa to expire knowing you're already married. you can stay here (legally) without the aos yet. but by filing the aos, gives you more opportunity to work and get a drivers license etc when you get your GC... God bless

hi thank you very much!!so its best to wait for the aos approval before going to Phil. Embassy.

  14. You said Baguio was very polluted. Lina and I were planning to go there while waiting for the visa to be delivered. Is it bad everywhere in Baguio or just certain areas to avoid?

The areas around Camp John Hay (The Manor) and Baguio Country Club are nice and not polluted because they are surrounded by pine trees.

I'm in Baguio right now :) I agree, it's gotten so polluted! Luckily, I'm staying at a place that's still surrounded by pine, with only a few (like, 3, I think) houses in the immediate area. If anyone's interested, it's near Wright Park, and.. St Joseph Church? I'm not sure of the church's name.. but it's big. Charges 3,500 per night, inclusive of everything but food and your clothes :P Has a fireplace, cable tv, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. I wish our house looked like that pad! It has a detached cottage thingy too.. Smaller, but cheaper (apparently, it has no fireplace, cuz I see no chimneys).

The contact person is Mr. Rene, 0919 4734536.

( can't find how to get my pics off of my phone. but they have a friendster account! - That Baguio Place!

  15. Cora (PW)...

Having a get together in Cali would be a very cool thing.

As some of you know, we've been hanging out with Steven and Jinky (Steven & Jinky) as well as Paul and Annie (YnaYeBa0808). Unfortunately Mychelle's husband is not interested in kicking it and does not see why she still hangs out on VJ since his AOS is approved. :bonk: Whatever! :diablo: Some of the Pinoys, I just don't get. Anywho, it would be nice to have a get together with more of the folks here in Cali. Hell, if we're in any state that you live in, we're gonna look you up.

    Cheers!!!

allAhmari (Sheriff Uling) & Jhen (Deputy Uling)

p.s. - If anyone in Cali is interested in getting together, please let us know. The more the merrier...

Hey! Judy and I would like to attend, can we wrap a cable around California and drag it over to where Alabama is now? it would make it much easier for us Georgians!

hellooooooooooooooooo! me and adam might try to join you guys since we are at south lake tahoe california. But it depends on ur schedule my flight is on may 31 as i hav chosen that date to be able to finish all my transactions from graduate school as well a my work. hope to meet u THAT IS SOO EXCITING.

  16. hello.. jas wanna is it ok if i purchase only a one way ticket? i called up a one travel agency then i asked her about the price of a certain airline for a one way ticket only. However, she said i should take a roundtrip ticket even if i am on fiancee visa because the immigration will not allow me to leave the country holding a one way ticket only...i need your help. i was about to pay the one way ticket today but then this travel agent told me to purchase the round trip ticket. thanks.

  17. I don't know what happened here? I am in shock and a little intoxicated. My wife went for a bike ride this morning at 9:30am and never came back. All she took was her money, jewels and passport. I received an email from her cousin in the Philippines 8 hours later that said my wife is safe and for me to move on with my life. I am in shock. I married her in the Phils 18 months ago, she was here 1 day short of two months and she is gone. Day after day she said she was depressed and homesick. The only disagreement we had was yesterday. It was about her $1028.00 cell phone bill where she had been calling the Philippines at $3.00 a minute instead of using our landline international service.

I don't know if I have been used or what. I am just in shock and have nobody to talk with.

    Glenn

Be strong Glenn. Probably Rosemarie just need time to reflect to the new life where she have chosen, in spending her life with you. It is really difficult to be away from what we used to be especially without the presence of our whole family by our side, adjustment disorder is what we usually experiencing.

There are some people who has a hard time to speak out to what he/she intend to express when all that she need is space for a moment. When she have that courage enough to patch up her difficulties, she will probably tell you honestly whatever such things she plans for your relationship. We hope the happiness for you both on your relationship. Raise everything to God, whatever you are going through by now. God bless you.

  18. right after I posted this morning my main computer died on a restart...i think the magic smoke leaked out of the power supply...I'll fix it soon...but first I'm off to go get JUDY!!! YAY yay YAY!!!

I am so happy for you Allan and Judy. When I get there tell to Judy I will call her up and as we continue our communication. God bless you!!

Shes asleep now Jackie, but she will be very glad to hear from you. I will show her your post.

also just send her your phone number here, we have Vonage she can call you free.

In case anyones interested I am back on the main PC it was indeed a lack of magic smoke in the power supply. (i just happened to have a brand new one laying around, what are the odds?)

    ALan (snicker)

COngratulations Judy!!!wow you made it! I am imagining myself kinda nervous as soon as I am in the plane. I would honestly wanted to fly soon however there are some matters i have to make it first (Judy knew that lol.) We were not able to meet again after the medical but hopefully in the next coming years...have a good rest Judy and feel your presence to the new place where you are as well as in the arms of your hubby. God bless to both of you.

  19. Phil-Am Families...

I would like to have a moment of silence for our longstanding and now departed Manila Embassy Interview thread and a warm welcome to the new one... May it be as much as of blessing to others as it has been for us.

    Cheers!!!

    Sheriff Uling

You never cease to put a smile on my face Sheriff  I miss the old Manila thread  but our new baby is starting out strong

I feel so behind the curve, not even sending my packett to USCIS yet.

Ayayay! What are you waiting for? Send it out before the two years since you last saw her is up. You don't need to show income upfront when filing the I-129F. Income will be required 6-8 months from now during the interview. By that time, you're well above the poverty level.

If it's been two years and a day since you were in the Philippines, you will need to come back here to satisfy the requirement of having met within the last two years. I'm not even sure how USCIS will count the days when you last saw her ~ date of receipt at USCIS? or date of adjudication? For example, if you saw her last on May 15, 2005 and then you send in the I-129F on April 15, 2007 which is still within two years, but at the time USCIS adjudicates the case on July 15 (assuming you are processing through California or Texas), then it would have been 2 months after the 2-year requirement. Then, the adjudicator may have a reason to deny your petition. When was the last time you saw her by the way (month and year).

Updating list to welcome JeffK to the list. Welcome, Jeff.
