  1. Our NOA date is Dec 30, 2090, but we haven't received an appointment letter either... I was wondering the same thing!

I hope there are more of us.

    Hello all,

We have yet to recieve a biometric appointment letter. Are we still in the normal time frame? I see that everyone else under Dec. has at least received the appointment letter and most have already completed the appointment. Just trying to find out if we are falling behind, and if there is any way to check to make sure our letter wasn't lost in the mail?

    Thanks for your help,

    Terry & Julalak

  2. Just got home from work on Good Friday to my I-485/I-130/AP/EAD sitting in our mailbox...rejection notice on all forms...I'm trying to figure out what we did wrong...so far I have only noticed that we were missing my wife's signature on the I-130....they also mention something about filing the correct fees but that part I think I got it right but I want to check. Is it as follows?

    I-130: $355

    I-485/AP/EAD: $1010

    ??

Any advice is helpful....especially if you have had similar experience...

    Thanks.

Are there any marks on sides of your paperwork (computer processed marks?). Very similar thing happened to us, but it wasn't our fault. The USCIS lost some of our forms and they thought it was incomplete! It took a while for us to figure out what happened. Here you can see what happened to us:

You should go through your packet to see if there are things missing.

    Hope everything will work out.

  3. Congratz!!

According to your timeline, you received your interview request before EAD and AP approved?

Your cases went so smooth!! :)

Yes, right after I had my biometrics taken, I received an interview notice. I even thought my EAD and AP weren't going to be approved before my interview.

But I think they expedited our case. My case didn't go so smooth, actually.

They lost our AOS packet once:

They even lost our K1 packet:

(This time, they didn't expedite our case)

    But I don't care now! I got approved :)

  4. Hi. My husband is in Karachi, Pakistan right now and we just found out that our file is "complete". They are now in the process of scheduling my husband's interview in Islamabad. We have been waiting for 2 years for him to get his visa. I don't know if you all know, but the rules have changed a tad bit. Does anyone know how long it will take for my hubby to get his interview date? Please advise :-/

    Thanks

    S

I am sorry, I don't think I can give you any advice.

I don't know what type of visa your husband is getting, and if it is a K-1 visa, I think it really depends on the embassy.

I hope you get helpful advice from someone else. Maybe you will have better luck if you start a new thread?

    Good luck.

  5. We had an interview today in Sacramento, CA.

And yes, we are approved!!!!! What a long and hard journey it has been!

I still cannot believe that this is over. I keep asking my husband if the interviewer said we were approved. The interviewer said that I should be getting my green card in two weeks.

Here is the details of our interview:

We arrived about 30minutes early. We waited for a while, but I think we got called in earlier than our appointment time. (we forgot our watches...)

The interviewer first appeared unfriendly and made us nervous, but as we talked, he showed himself as a very nice person.

He looked through our file, asked me to say my name, address, phone number, SSN, etc.

He also asked a few questions about our relationship, and asked to see our photos.

Oh, and he asked if we have the same keys to our house with us today, and I didn't bring mine because my husband had his. That was a surprise question.

And he took my EAD and Advance Parole, and he asked us if we had any questions. And he said "ok, now I approve your case, and you should be getting your card in two weeks."

I think the whole interview took less than 15 minutes.

I want to thank VisaJourney and all of you for advice and support, and good luck to those who are still waiting.

  6. That is the standard letter that everyone gets for interview. They are just covering themselves in case they need a follow up interview (rare).

You can get a RFE at any time including at interview if the IO feels something is missing from your case.

Just take everything on the list with you including a copy of your AOS papers (if you made one) and anything else you can think of that may or even may not be asked for...

Oh and since it is tax time, i fyou have done your taxes and will get a copy before your interview take this years with you as well.

    kim&james,

I will bring everything we have plus our new tax documents if they are ready before the interview.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

  7. Is it bad to get an AOS interview letter nowadays?

It feel like there are more people on VisaJourney being approved without interviews, and I am just being nervous if people whose cases need to be looked in deeper are requested to appear for interviews?

And it says "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW". Is this the normal interview? or is "initial interview" a special thing?

We just had a Biometrics appointment on January 23, 2008 and was nervous about receiving a RFE. Since we got this letter, can we assume that we aren't subject to any RFEs?

Is it possible that we will be asked for RFEs at the interview?

The interview letter also lists items that I need to bring. Are they all the same for any kind of AOS applicants? What I mean is that the letter is requesting some items that we have already submitted, so I was wondering if the letter is pre-formatted for any AOS applicant and we just need to bring what applies to us? (The letter does say (unless already submitted), but I am just extra nervous since I was not expecting the interview letter to come so early.)

I am sorry if I am asking too many stupid questions. I am panicking a bit since I wasn't expecting this for a while.

    Thanks

  8. Thank you all for your compassion.

I did not staple any documents, but I did divide the packet into I-485 with Affidavit of Support, I-131, and I-765 with ACCO clips... Maybe that could be the reason?

I put a cover letter in front.

We already sent back what they sent us with missing information and documents added. This time, we were instructed to send what they have already stapled together as is, so my original cover letter is stapled at the back of a bunch of documents. But we were instructed by an officer who talked to us on the phone to write an expedite request, so that is what we put in front.

I really hope there will be no more BS from now on....

Thank you all for your kind replies.

    Have a happy new year!

  9. We sent in our AOS packet on December 09, 2007. We were checking on our bank account to see if our check had been cashed yet.

Today, we got a thick envelope from the USCIS. Guess what? They sent back a part of our AOS packet with rejection notices saying we did not provide correct fee.

As we went through the returned package, we noticed that our I-485 is missing. Those rejection notices were for the employment authorization and travel document. The USCIS lost our I-485, so that they thought we sent in $1010 for the employment authorization and travel document. So stupid!

And there are some printed marks with date (December 17, 2007) on the side of some documents that were returned, so we think our packet was being processed at one point by someone and that someone lost our I-485.

We called the USCIS and they told us to resend what the USCIS sent back plus new I-485 that they lost.

This all sounds so familiar to us because the same thing happened to our I-129F packet, which delayed our plan by two months. (They did not even notice that our packet was lost until we called.)

I can't beleive that the same thing happened twice to us!

I just hope that when we send the packet back to the USCIS, things will go smoothly.....

  10. I searched on this forum for vaccination supplement information, and I see many people mentioning vaccination supplement being in a sealed envelope. But all I have is a piece of paper I received at a clinic when I had my medical exam for K-1 application in my coutry, and it is not in a sealed envelope. They just handed me one...

I gave the immigration officer at the port of entry a big sealed envelope that I received from the embassy after my interview, but you guys are not talking about this, right? (I did not get it back, of course).

Could anyone tell me if this is going to be an issue, please?

    Thank you

  11. Hi. I am in the US on a K1 visa and now I am preparing the forms to file for AOS.

I was an F1 student in the past and have applied for employment authorization (OPT) twice, both were granted.

On the form I-765, it asks for all documentations for previous employment authorizations. But I only have one card from the latest employmenet authorization from 2004. I have thrown away the old card (issued in 2001) and any letters that came with the cards.

Do you think it will be a problem if I only mention the latest one and attach a photo copy of the latest card I have kept?

Should I mention the old card and tell them that I didnt keep any documentation of it?

I would appreciate it if you could give me an advice or you could share your experience.

    Thank you

  12. Hi. I would like to get some help on our situation about Affidavit of Support.

My fiance (US citizen) was injured at work and was on worker's comp last year. His compensation was over the poverty line, but the insurance company is so messed up that he cannot get ahold of anyone via mail, email, or phone and they are not providing him with his W2 form for 2006....

Since February this year, he has been back to work (but with a different company) and already made more than 125% of poverty line.

My fiance has called the IRS and explained his situation, but nothing changed in the situation. My fiance also contacted his accountant, but was told that he cannot file for the last year.

My fiance has kept the paystubs for the compensation he was receiving.

Do you think the paystubs substitute tax return?

I don't want to get rejected at interview after going through all this.....

I would appreciate any advice from you.

    Thanks
