  1. Thanks for the replies. I checked the actual for I-751 and there was a question about and changes in address since having a Green Card (where and dates). So, me and anyone else who might have this question does not need to worry. It would be just a simple typed letter or written letter that would state the address and dates. I feel better and thanks.

  2. Hello, I have not applied for removal of conditions now. My wife still has some time before we need to do so. I was wondering if we have to update our new address after moving to a different city after getting her 2 year conditional green card? When we do apply to remove conditions do we just do so at our nearest jurisdiction (USCIS office)? Her original 2 year conditional GC interview was in Los Angeles. We are in San Diego now.
As a permanent resident(conditional or otherwise), you have 10 days to notify the government using the AR-11 form click here. When removing conditions, you must file with the nearest service center, i.e California Service Center in Laguna Niguel. You can find more info on VJ's Guides for removing conditions.

If the sponsor of the immigrant moves, (s)he also needs to file form I-865 to advise the USCIS of that move.

This is what I got off of the website: "Customers who have an application and/or petition which has been filed with USCIS but has not yet been decided (also known as a 'pending' case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving.

The law requires nearly all non-U.S. Citizens1 to report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a Form AR-11. Abiding by these legal requirements and completing the necessary forms does not update an address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Non-citizens with pending cases must do both"

Basically, we do not have a case 'pending' or have an 'active case' at the moment. She has status of 'Conditional Green Card for 2 years now'. Between now and the time we actually apply to lift conditions and get her 10 year Green Card do we need to let USCIS know of our address change? Our address has changed a longtime ago and will be current before the 90 days we need to apply to remove conditions. Do we just simply write down the new address when we apply to lift conditions and get the 10 year Green Card? By then she would just about be eligible for Naturalized U.S. Citizenship anyway.

  4. The USCIS Officer never looked at my pile of updated paperwork I had in my laptop carry bag (found a good use for it) and he never asked for any 'updated' paperwork. I can't figure it out, but I we are extremely happy. If anybody has major procedure problems...I would recommend your local congressional representative. I have read some outrageous posts by some unlucky members here and it's absolutely crazy. I had to go to my congressional representative only one time in my life for a federal employment issue. The response was better than I ever imagined. Maybe I got lucky with my wife's interview, but I feel the same should be for all. Thank you everyone. Let's read more approval posts...it's nice to read the excitement.

  5. WOOHOOOO!

You all know what that means.

    Dear Adjustment of Status Applicant:

Congratulations! Your application to adjust status has been approved.

A Permanent Resident Card ("PRC") will be mailed to you within 90 days.

We had our appointment in Los Angeles @ 300 N Los Angeles Street 6th floot Room 6001. Appointment time 0850. Our arrival time 0755. Put AOS Interview notice in tray at the window (as instructed). My wife was called at 0805. I was a nervous husband and told the Officer so. I said, "I only want to look after my wife". He laughed. I was over prepared to counter any requests for documentation. My wife's medical expired before we submitted AOS paperwork, but we had a new medical completed. I had lots of 'updated' information ready. I had photo albums which included our cat (our cat is family). I noticed my wife'd file had every original document from her K-1 to AOS. I never got a RFE once, but I sent in more documents necessary for her K-1 and AOS at original submissions.

I questioned about the name change that was not on the original documents. My wife has her real first, middle name, maiden, and my last name. We tried to get her middle name off the computer, but once it went in he could not change it. My wife can have this done in 3 years at citizenship time (if she so decides herself on citizenship). I told her this is her choice to make and I will support her either way.

We waited for the computer to accept whatever he entered, seen the big red APPROVAL stamp go in her file, and out popped our Congratulations Letter. We were not told about conditional status or removal of conditions. I guess we might get a letter about removing conditions when she gets her card in the mail. Maybe she will get a 10 year card? It doesn't matter, we are stoked either way.

We were done and walking back to the parking lot, I looked at my watch and it said 0820. It must have took 10-15 minutes for everything. We shook hands, said thank you, walked out the exit, and I felt like I scored a goal in soccer (I was pumped). I got a big hug and kiss from my wife. :D

I get to take my wife out on a date at an UPTOWN CAFE and order gourmet food with wine.....just because I am happy for her.

I sincerely wish everybody gets approved soon. This is such an interesting process. I hear so many variations of this visa process. It's out of our hands and the unknown is not easy to deal with...I know...we are good for now...

Congratulations to all those approved and those that will be approved....

    wooohooooo

  6. I just had my wife finish her Medical. Go to the USCIS website and find a Civil Surgeon in your area. We went to a Industrial Medical Clinic (basic work physicals) and paid 100.00 for the exam and 50.00 for chest X-Rays for a total of $150.00. I think if you can get to an Industrial Medical Clinic it should be less expensive. We had to wait 3 days for the blood work to finish and have the TB test read. We also got the Supplemental Work Sheet finished. This clinic had all the forms, but it will not hurt you if you printed off all of the forms you need and bring them with you. I just felt better bringing my own, but I didn't need them.

  7. Track down any W-2 forms if possible from employers and copy them while bringing originals with you..I filed my 2005 late because a tax person told me I needed an Taxpayer ID Number for my wife because her K-1 expired, but she couldn't get that because she is eligible for a GC and a SSN afterwards. Catch-22. I have all the documents from IRS and SSN...I sent in a copy of my original return with my wife's AOS...so they know I sent in my return to Philadelphia...Philadelphia rejected my wifes TIN request and I haven't heard anything about my own return (filed jointly) I have my W-2's from 2005 so they will get a copy of them on my wife's interview OCT 2. I'm sure they will have questions for me....I know I will have questions for them....it would be nice to get solutions...I hope you get your solution too....good luck.

  8. I just think it's a bunch of ####### the EAD was not even touched! Too bad a refund cannot be granted or a complaint to your area congressional office. It's like the federal government is hard-up for tax money or something.

Me and my wife thought EAD and AP was a waste of money since she is taking classes right now. EAD doesn't apply to our situation, but I still think it's not fair for others who didn't even get approved. With a GC the EAD is mute, but you are out of the EAD fee.

    Congratulations on your GC

  9. Your K-1 status is now 'out of status'. Your wife is now 'legal' in the U.S. There is no time frame on when your wife is required to file for AOS. After you wife files for AOS and gets her GC approved she will then be 'officially legal'. Your wife will have the new luxury of paying taxes should she decide to work. An EAD will also grant this on an interim basis. A SSN is also a benefit is she does not already have one from her K-1. I am in your situation right now.

Me and my wife were married on Nov 5, 2005 and did not file AOS until the last day of July this year. After we married I changed jobs and moved out of state, but now I am back. We needed all the money we could get between moving. We had to delay filing her AOS. We only filed for AOS and not EAD or AP. Her interview is set for Oct 3. Her biometrics is already finished. This has been a fast turn around time (perhaps less paperwork speeds the process)? It was my wife's choice not to file for EAD or AP because she is taking classes now and does not plan to visit Ukraine anytime soon. I told her the benefits of both and she still said, "no". She said, "by the time I get my green card I will finish some classes and get my SSN...then I can look at future employment possibilities".

Take a deep breathe. Enjoy your honeymoon and keep reciepts, bills, and take photos of your honeymoon. Make a photo album and take with you to your AOS interview. You both deserve a great time.

The sooner you can get this done the better, but there is no penalty for being late.

  10. Wow,

My wife finished her Biometrics Appointment with a little added security because of the terror plot in UK. Wife was nervous. I was probablly more nervous than her. It's just love and supporting my wife (L) Her appointment was on Aug 10 and on Aug 12 we get a letter saying she has her AOS interview on Oct 3. In reading other people's timelines it seems as though this normally does not happen this quick. Maybe we are lucky. It seems alot of people got some mail today. I was just wondering if other people have gotten a quick AOS interview after the Biometrics appointment in the past or present. I hope this is a new trend for people currently in process of AOS.

  11. I am curious about what documents are required to show me and my wife are legitimately married and still together? A joint checking account is a headache because of SSN. Can I get a Library card? Wedding photos? It's very difficult to get anything set-up with an account without a SSN and I cannot get a SSN without her GC (we are not filing EAD). What if I cannot get her on my account, which I cannot, will her AOS be denied? What is critical evidence they need to see at her interview?

  12. I forgot to mention we didn't submit anything for Employment Authorization or Advance Parole. My wife said, "why spend the money when I am enrolled in english classes? I am not going anywhere soon. I want to finish my classes and take examinations for Office Assistant or Accunting Technician for State of California and work with you." I told her, "remember what you just told me in your interview". So, we just decided on AOS (Green Card) paperwork.

I hope everybody with us in this process, now, goes as fast as possible and those in the future also go very fast.

  13. Clarax,

Thanks for posting. My wife got her NOA1 after only 5 days (to Chicago and back to Calfornia). Good turn around time. I noticed your timeline and it seems very good. We had a good turn around on her K-1 visa approval (2 months). How can I make arraingements to go to a Visa Support Center? My nearest office is Goleta. I don't want to go to Los Angeles if I can help it. Can I use INFOPASS to request she have her Biometrics done in Goleta?

  14. I submitted my wife's AOS packet and got our Receipt #. On the I-485 documents I used her original Ukraine family name. On her new Visa (Green Card) she wants her new marriage name with her first name, Ukraine last name, and then my last name on her Green Card. At what point do we let USCIS know of her wishes? Can this be requested at her upcoming Biometrics appointment? We want her new name to be on her Green Card, SSN, and new updated International Passport. Thanks for any and all help/responses.
