Has your work and income changed since the first affidavit you submitted?  If so, then yes I would bring an updated one because if they ask where you work and your response is different from the original affidavit they may ask for an updated one.  But the other problem is have you worked there long enough to get the required 6 months of paystubs?  If not you may want to get other proof of your income to go with whatever paystubs you do have (such as an employment verification letter).

I went with quality over quantity for evidence, but it doesn’t hurt to be cautious since you can never know the personality of the person you’ll be dealing with.  Just make sure that you organize it well if it’s a lot.  Personally, I brought the 3 most recent statements from my bank accounts and the first statement after my spouse was added (to show they had been on it 1+ year as well as show the deposits had been ongoing).

    Just a quick update

I had my Green Card Interview this morning. (approved!)

I will write up a review and post it.

  2. Hey again,

I’m wondering If anyone in the know can explain to me why my I-131 Advance parolewas rejected...

I’m currently in the AOD process, I filed my I-485 and also I-765 and I-131 forms in Sept 2019. I got the combo card in Feb ‘20. Green card interview is still pending.

Given the backlog I sent in my renewal package, for EAD and advance parole this September, I didn’t include fees as it’s a renewal. I included all the necessary, including my original NOA’s. The I765 was accepted, and I got a receipt notice (starts with IOE??) however, The I-131 was rejected, stating that I didn’t pay the fees.

I didn’t realise the fee was applicable as it’s a renewal and I filed the original I765/I131 at the same time as the I-485.

Can anyone offer any advice? Many thanks

I'm also in NYC, filed Sep 19. My interview is next month. I've seen other people from Sept 19 getting interview as well, so you're not that far from your interview.

Did you send your renewal to the correct address? Did you send the current form? Did you send NOA 1 form AOS? My NOA for my renewal arrived after 1 week. So there's a chance your package was rejected and it's on the way back.

Hey, good to hear from another NY’er! Thanks for the reply. Yes I did include the original NOA and double checked the location, Chicago. To be fair when I originally filed it took about a month to get the NOA

Congrats on getting your interview... hopefully mine isn’t too far away!

  4. Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone is in my situation, or similar.

Filed for EAD renewal on 1st Sept - whilst waiting for i-485 to be approved. (I've been waiting for interview since Dec 2019.)

My city (NYC) is now stating the wait for approval is up to 30+ months (ridiculous)

I have received no notification or acknowledgement from USCIS that they received my package - even though I can see it was received a month ago. I know covid is the excuse and delays inevitable but does it really stop them from opening the mail?

Apologies for the vent I'm just frustrated! Anyone else in the same slow-moving boat as me?

I'm also applying to renew my combo card this week. It expires in February 2021, so filing 180 days before expiry.

Here's what I included for each application (I-765 & I-131 - obviously substitute Form I-131 for Form I-765 in that application) based on scanning quite a few posts that resulted in successful renewals.

    1. 2 x Passport Photos

    2. Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

    3. Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization

    4. Copy of Applicant’s Passport information page and current entry stamp

    5. Copy of I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt notice of pending I-485

    6. Copy of I-797, Notice of Action, approval notice of current I-766

    7. Copy of Applicant’s current Employment Authorization Document

    8. Copy of current Employment Authorization Document tear-off portion

    9. Copy of Applicant’s I-94

Don't forget there's a new edition of form I-765 that came into effect on 25th August 2020.

    Best of luck

Thanks for the reply - I am of the same opinion you are, and that is file as soon as possible to negate an extended wait time.

  6. Hello all!

I am once again asking for some sagely advice from people who have gone through this process recently.

I am a October 2019 filer for AOS following K1.

I am filing for a renewal EAD (I still have about 5 and a half months remaining on my EAD but considering backlog thought I'd file sooner rather than later). Also being in NYC I have resigned myself to a long wait!

    My package contains
    1. Cover letter

    2. forms I765 and i131

    3. Passport/visa copy, I-94, EAD copy, passport photos

    4. Copies of original NOA for AOS and EAD/travel doc

Have I missed anything before I mail this? I have followed the original checklist, and I understand that I don't need to pay the fee again.

Thanks again for all your kind advice!

  7. Hey all,

I am wondering if anyone in the NYC area has any recent info regarding AOS interviews - My last update was on 12th December stating that the interview was waiting to be scheduled - USCIS is stating the wait time is between 12 and 30 months (!) does anyone have recent experience re timescales for this office? And could anyone say when it would be advisable to apply for EAD renewal, mine was granted in Feb.

    Many thanks!

  8. Hi all,

Has anyone else had any experience with having zero response after filing their AOS package - I sent it via USPS on 09/24/19, signed for on 09/27/2019, and heard nothing since.

USCIS have confirmed nothing on my file when I called them and the cheque hasn’t been cashed

I’m worried that such a large amount of sensitive personal details could be lost...

Has anyone been in a similar situation recently And at what point should I consider mailing a new application?

    many thanks

Clinic: Call back and tell the maybe newbie on the phone that you are a K1 and do no get assigned an interview by the NVC before the medical. Tell them your K1 instructions from London specifically say medical before interview scheduling. Tell them you have your LND number and they should let you pick an appointment only by giving them the number.

    .

I did exactly as you said. Medical booked.

    Thanks a lot 😂

  10. Hi all,

I'm posting because I have recently received my NOA2 for my K1 visa. A few weeks passed we did not receive any letter from the NVC so my fiancee called them up and enquired -- in a nutshell they gave us two numbers, the case number which they said to use for the visa application and the invoice number which they said is to be used for paying fees.

I haven't received the letter from the embassy, although the CEAC website does say it's still with the NVC at the moment.

Having read the VJ K1 Visa guide for London I've gone ahead and completed the DS-160 and got all my documents, police certificate ready with photographs. I'm trying to be expeditious with getting through this as ideally we'd like to marry before the end of summer, and I know the obvious answer is to wait for the letters but I'm also reading on the forums that people can begin to make their way through the process using the numbers as it can save weeks of waiting.

Now I have read some conflicting statements -- Some which say that I need to book my medical before the interview, but when I called to book a medical today, they stated that they couldn't until I have scheduled an interview. The US embassy website states I should schedule the interview after my medical exam. So I'm now confused!

Any advice or recent experience is appreciated

    Many thanks

  11. Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can give me some advice regarding how UK qualifications are perceived in the US

I am currently in the K-1 Visa process and I am thinking ahead to work.

I have 10 years of experience in my field (vocational) however I obviously don't have US qualifications. Some of the jobs I have looked at require a High School Diploma or GED. I have GCSEs/A Level but are these qualifications 'accepted' in the USA or do I have to take the GED and relevant qualifications in the USA?

I'm aware I could get certificates of equivalency and I know companies do provide these services but primarily I'm wondering how the US views foreign education.

If, for example, on an electronic application form where there is no room for explanation, if it asks if I have a high school diploma/GED education do I tick Yes or No?

    Many thanks

  12. Thanks Albamak. I have looked into CR-1 but not as much --The reason being, I travel to the USA on an ESTA. My understanding is that traveling with the intent to marry would be a violation of the terms of the ESTA. The same for when she visits me. If I turn up at a POE on an ESTA and state that I intend to marry, I am pretty certain that I will be refused entry.  It just seemed that the Fiance visa was the more appropriate as that most accurately reflects our current circumstance.

  13. Loren, Ben&Zian, thanks both for the reply. With the letters is it really that simple -- I mean please forgive the ignorance but anyone could write such letters, yet such importance is placed on them?

I have a cover letter with takes the Official through our circumstances, visits and evidence attached, could we add signed statements to this letter or should it strictly be one letter of intent per party?

    Thanks again

  14. Hi all,

First time post, so please bear with me -I don't usually post on these sort of forums however this one does seem particularly useful for my situation.

I am 30 and I live in London, my fiance (29) lives in New York. We met when I was visiting the USA after chatting on a pretty standard dating app.

We have been together for seven months and have visited each other in person on six occasions in this seven month period. We see each other every month. We want to marry and live together.

After researching the pros and cons of living in both London and New York, we decided NYC would be where we both want to live together, and it seems to me the K-1 visa is the process we need to follow.

I have compiled a solid amount of evidence of our meetings in person, photos together, photos with family and our friends, plane tickets, passport stamps, correspondence, etc. This is not my area of concern!

Now the problem is this -- I haven't bought her a ring yet. Quite simply, I'm still saving for it! and I want to give it to her on the 1 year anniversary of us meeting. We plan to marry, We have planned our day but we haven't booked anything, simply because we are unsure exactly how long any visa process would take, but after reading through some posts on this forum I have a rough idea, but at this stage we do not want to pay deposits or anything just in case the timeline is extended, or if there are any hiccups or issues of any kind.

I'm wondering if this approach could make any adjudicating official dubious of our intent to actually marry? (I don't fear an interview or 'proving' our relationship, what worries me is the lack of ring, lack of venue might cause doubt as to the intent to actually marry)

Now, I can prove via email correspondence we have spoken with wedding venues and discussed finances for this sort of thing. Is suitable evidence of intending to marry?

I understand the obvious answer, perhaps, is to simply wait until the ring is sorted... But we do want to get the ball rolling, and I could continue to save for the ring whilst the paperwork is being dealt with.

Apologies if this sort of thing has been covered elsewhere. I just wanted to get some advice for my exact circumstances, and as always, any helpful advice is appreciated.

    Many thanks
