  1. If it is just a connection in AMS then no transit visa is needed since you would

stay in the transit area and not clearing immigration or customs. If it is a real

stop over with the intention to leave the airport, let's say for a downtown

visit, then some sort of visa is required.

Nationals of certain countries also require an airport transit visa to change aircraft at a Dutch airport, even though they do not actually enter Dutch territory.

Countries whose nationals need an airport transit visa

    Afghanistan

    Angola

    Bangladesh

    Colombia

    DR Congo

    Eritrea

    Ethiopia

    Gambia

    Ghana

    Guinea

    Iran

    Iraq

    Nigeria

    Pakistan

    Sierra Leone

    Sudan

    Somalia

    Sri Lanka

    Syria

u dont need a transit visa if u re just stoping to connect,we_destiny the case u cited is referring to who hold visitor's visa. when u re travelling on a student, work and immigrant visa u dont need on except u re existing the airport then u need transit B .if u doubt it contact any airline in ur home country or travelling agent

Jeje: We will have to agree to dis-agree.

I would follow the rules as listed on the Netherlands embassy in Accra web-site. As indivisuals we are all free to do as we like. But as anyone knows that have had a layover in Amsterdam, they check your passports before you exit the plane and enter the airport. I would not let a $100 visa cause potential problems the cost of 20 phone cards, that is not a gamble I am willing to take.

I also hope, that if your SO comes from one of the countries listed above they will get the visa. :time:

    Good Luck with your journey.

    Hi

I traveled by way of Detroit to Amsterdam onto Abuja Nigeria. I didn't need a transit visa neither time I traveled through Amsterdam. I traveled this route twice. Hope this helps.

  2. Hi every one, before going forward, i am a Nigeria and i have never seen a divorce been done in 1 week. My sister in Nigeria is going through a divorce for almost 5months now, and they have not finalize there divorce. So my sister, i am a born and bred Nigeria, and i am teling you that divorce in 1 week can not be done.

    Hi,

In response to your message about my x-husband filing and getting a divorce in 1 week. It actually happened for a fact. He filed for divorce on June 6 2007 and it was granted in a Kubwa court on June 15 2007.

I myself actually have questioned this fast process. I have a very good friend in Abuja (actually he was my witness to the marriage) who I had to go to the court and inquire into the legality of the divorce. His inquiry from the court found the divorce to be 100% true and legal.

I did however have to send him a copy of the marriage certificate before they would give him the information questioned.

So yes, it can be done in just 1 week.

Also to furthur update on the divorce reversal we were going to do, we actually filed a reversal in the appeals court there and the case was dismissed because he was late on getting to the court. The court found to there understanding, my x-husband or myself was present the time our case was called and it was dismissed as a no show.

So now, unfortunately, my x-husband will remain just that, my x. He has said that after 3 1/2 yrs of waiting to be together and all involved, he doesn't want to go on furthur in the relationship of starting all over again.

So now he is moving on with his new life in Abuja, and I am stuck here in the states greiving for a man i will never get to share my life with now. Is sad and a pity it turned out this way.

Please I need all your prayers to help me come to terms with all this and losing the love of my life over something that was out of my hands.

God Bless all of you and God speed on your journey.

  3. Worst case scenario : After your interview you are put on AP/AR......the review team verifies the documents.........

a home investigation with his family, friends and neighbors......yes, it does happen.

If you leave a papertrail with the divorce/ reversal and the embassy verifies documents they will find out.

If the family thinks you are no longer involved and the investigator shows up to interview the family you will be in trouble.

Not trying to scare you but being realistic.

Be honest, don't try to hide anything during your interview. What we do today will have consequences tomorrow.

I suggest a good immigration attorney for your predicament. Things aren't that easy in Lagos, even if you have things 100% in order.

    Best wishes !

    Hi Again Everyone,

Again thanks for your well wishes. As for the "divorce reversal" it will be filed next week and will be reversed in about 1 weeks time, according to my husbands attorney in Nigeria. The process of things in Nigeria seem to be much faster there, than here in the states on certain issues, when it involves court issues.

See, my husband filed for divorce on June 8 2007 and the following week, on Friday June 15 the divorce was granted, Unlike things here in the states, which we know takes months for things to process in our court systems.

Also, when it's time for Stanley's interview in Lagos, we have decided to be honest and upfront on what has occured, so as to keep nothing hidden about the divorce and it's reversal. I know Lagos is to be one of the hardest consulates to go through according to VJ members having been through there before. So, we plan on keeping nothing from the interviewer on that day.

I'm a firm believer in God and all His plans for each and everyone of us in our lives. Everything happens for a reason, nothing is by chance or coincidence, so God is in control and His will shall be done in our lives together. Amen.

  4. Hi Everyone,

First, I want to thank all who have left me messages concerning my recent post. It's good to know their are people that cares about others.

Next, to update on my situstion, my husband and I are planning on doing the divorce reversal. He says since his family no longer thinks we are involved now in any way, the family pressure is off completely. So in a short time I pray all will be to normal for us and we proeede with our plans ahead.

Now, I still have been checking on the I130 petition daily, even though my husband divorced me last week, and I have an update on our status .

I called the USCIS today (California) and was told our I130 has been approved and I should receive notice in postal mail soon.

Also, they told me it was already at the NVC. I called the NVC, and yes, for a fact it was entered into the system on June 15 2007. I was given a new case number to inquire in the future pertaining to the petition.

So to calculate my timeline here, it took 92 days from NOA1 to the I130 being entered into the NVC system.

Please keep praying for me and Stanley ok. No matter what some make think here, we do love each other and want to be together again, as before all this happened. Sometimes we have to make choices and decisions in our lives that effect other people. Sometimes we also have to give in to pressure from others when it's soo hard that you feel as if you are gonna die. So please don't judge me or my husband on either decision that was and is being made. Just pray that God has His will in all things involved ok.

Thanks and God Bless each of you on your journey.

  5. Hi Everyone,

My husbands family forced him to file for a divorce from me, and it was granted yesterday in court in Kubwa Abuja Nigeria. My husband told me even before our marriage that, according to custom and cultural beliefs and that the elders of the family can and do have a say in younger ones lives, can do this.

Yes , my husband did file the divorce papers, but with very much pressure from his elders to do so. He says he can appeal to a higher court and have the divorce reversed.

My question here is, if the higher court does reverse the divorce, will this be a great issue when he goes for his interview for the I-130? Will explination to the consulate of why and what happened be acceptable to them?

Please, i need help and advice here, please.

Also, anyone else that has a spouse or fiance in nigeria, please contact me if you or your spouse or fiance knows anything about the reversal process of a divorce in Nigeria.

My God!!! I can't believe this is happening to us. Please pray all will be ok with us. We have waited over 3 1/2 yrs to finally be together and now after only 5 months of marriage, all this takes place.

Thanks in advance for any help or advise you can offer me.

    god bless you all

  6. Hello friends,

Can anybody advice if my fiancee need to send me the phone bill or phone conversation to facilitate my visa interview for I-130 because she said that the phone bill doesn't show she received calls from outside US.

    Thanks.

    Await ya reply.

First of all, welcome to VJ. Secondly, you called her your fiancee, correct? But it shows on your profile, you have applied for the IR-1/CR-1 spousal visa. Please, let us all know here which petion is correct, so as we may be able to help you. Also, please do a timeline too.

  7. Hi Everyone

I received confirmation of receipt of the I-130 for my husband on March 8, 2007. We have received our NOA1 on March 15, 2007. Our status is, Petition received and Pending.

I want to know however, since I am going to be using a co-sponsor, is it too soon for her to get all her financial documents in order for the I-864 that she will be submitting on my husbands behalf?

Also, since the I-864 has to be notorized, is there a time frame in which it needs to be done in, say as in 30 days of submittion of documents?

Thanks for any help with this issue.

  9. Hello All,

My question is this, is it too soon to start to gather my co-sponsors financial documents? I have just now sent in the I-130 and am waiting on NOA1.

Since the I-864 has to be completed by my co-sponsor and has to be notorized, is there a time frame on the notorization to be and remain valid (say for instance, signed and notorized within 30 days of submittion ) of the document?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

  10. Hello All,

Since the I-184 has to be completed by my co-sponsor and has to be notorized, is there a time frame on the notorization to be and remain valid (say for instance, signed and notorized within 30 days of submittion ) of the document?

  11. Hi Everyone,

I recently sent in the I-130 petition to Texas, and got confirmation of receipt via UPS. My question here is, will I receive my NOA1 or RFE, through postal mail, since I sent in a money order for the fee instead of a check?

I know if one sends a check, you can see if the check has been cashed and get the # off the back of the check. How does this work with money orders? The money order I purchased is from USPS. I checked for a # on my receipt to call to see if the money order has been cashed, but found no # in order to do so. The only thing on the money order is advice on how to receive a refund if lost or stolen.

Also, I have already set up an account on the USCIS home page to be able to track the progress of the I-130 petition, but I don't have a # as of yet, to put in the case # catagory to see updates. I need to know when I receive a NOA1 or RFE, will I receive a # to track the progress?

Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  12. Hello Everyone,

My question here is, what is the process of opening a joint savings account with my husbands name on it? I want to set up a new account for us, and am wondering if I will have a problem at the bank, due to him still living in another country. Please any advice is greatly appreciated.

God Bless You all on Your Journey.

    Thanks,

  13. Hello. I have heard of people bringing in affidavits from friends who were there the day/night that you first met. It also helps if those friends are US citizens with SS numbers.
    Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure what proof (to show we have meet within 2 yrs of filing) I need to send in with the I-129F petition that I will be filing if and when I receive an NOA1 on the I-130 petition.

Do I send in the same documents as with the I-130, or other documents like e-ticket stubs, picture etc. Please advise me on this.

Thanks in advance for all help.

    sandybabe_onuh

Pictures (printed out not on a CD), phone records. IM messages or emails. Ticket stubs would probably also work. Basically anything that would show that you 2 were at the same place at the same time. Just makes sure that if you use tickets or anything like that that its obvious he would also be there. Like if you met up in Paris try to get his tickets as well as yours etc.

    Fofire

What I need to know here is, will my proof of marriage certificate, wedding pics and so forth be enough to establish our meeting? Or do I need to send in things like emails, chats etc. just like as if i was going the K-1 fiancee visa route.

I traveled to meet him back in april of last year for the first time. I have since traveled back just last month and while there we were married. So I'm unclear if I am to send in things like for the K-1 visa petition or, same documents that i have filed with for the I-130 alien relative visa since he is already my husband and not my fiancee any longer.

    thanks

  14. Hi Everyone,

I have read the assembling instructions for filing of I-130 petitions. Am I correct in understanding that I need a cover letter for the I-130? If so, is there an example of the cover letter that I may go by?

Please forgive me if I seem to be asking some stupid questions here ok. It's just that I'm soo nervous about not doing everything with the petition correctly.

All info and or advice is soo much greatly appreciated.

    Blessings,

    sandybabe_onuh

  15. Hello everyone,

I have a question pertaining to the I-130 petition ok. I need to know if I send in (4) copies of this form as I do with the G-325 form.

Also, my reading and understanding of the form ( I-130) is that, I am the petitioner and the only signature required on it is mine, Please am I correct here?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
