    Okay, thank you.

One more question to you or anyone who might know. My colleagues got a 1 year visa right away.

Now will the process take less time for a 1 year visa? I mean making me wait 1 year in order to give me a 1 year visa sounds quite illogical don't you think so?

The visa class or duration is irrelevant for this process. I am not suggesting that it will also take an year for you but if see the trends, most of the people spent around that time in the process.

    Thank you for your reply.

I had my interview on tuesday 5 feb. Submitted the form right away after I received it on tuesday, but still haven't received a reply and no case update.

Is there a way to speed up the process?

My friend, there is no way to expedite the process. I would advise not to be very anxious about it but keep enquiring every month or so. I hope you get your visa soon.

    Hello everyone,

I've applied for a B1/B2 Visa last week. Everything went smooth and my visa got accepted. After 1 hour, the embassy called me and said that I had to submit the DS-5535 form and my passport was returned via Aramex.

The reason for my trip is a 5 days event in one of the most reputable universities in the US mid-march.

My colleagues got their visas in 24 hours.

Will this process make me miss my visit? Will they take into consideration the dates specified on the invitation letter?

    Hello Joedib6,

NOw since you have received this form, please submit with all the possible details. do not mean to make you feel bad but this could be a long wait. I know people who have rcvd their visa within 30 days also after DS 5535. But it can also take more than a year.

    Hi,

I sent my package through FedEx and they received it on Dec 22nd. The NOS from home country was submitted electronic on the 18th.

So far my case online was not updated. It has been a month already. Is that normal? I emailed them and got no answer back.

It takes 6-8 weeks as per DOS website so if its not been 2 months, I would say there is no need to worry.

I am working with a lawyer, but is there a way for me to personally check my status rather than keep on asking him if he has received the approval? If my favorabke recommendation has been sent way back Dec14 should he receive the NOA receipt number already?

Can you please ask your lawyer that is it OK to submit selfaddressed envelopes from UPS  instead of USPS ? I appreciate your help.

Hey guys, so my husband has been on AP with DS 5535 for about 3 months now. He does not have his passport with him. He turned it in with his other documents. Do you guys think it’s a bad idea to ask for the passport back? Because he has a lot of job opportunities in other countries and he’s getting impatient :( I hate that this is stopping our lives. I told him that i’m afraid they’re going to delay us even more if he does that. Has anyone asked for their passport back??

I am sorry you guys are going through this, it has been tough on all of us. I dont think requesting the passport back will have any effect on visa decision.

    Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum. I am hoping to get some light from fellow applicants because I don't wanna nag my lawyer any further. Is anyone still waiting for their I-797 approval? My Recommendation was sent on Dec14 and have no further updates yet. Is there a way for me to find out if USCIS has indeed received the recommendation from The DOS? I know I am still within the time line of 4-8weeks, but is it usually this long? It's been more than a month since my status was "recommendation, sent". Anyone in limbo like me? Thank you.

If you have received notice of action from USCIS, it will have receipt number and with which you can track your progress on USCIS case status website.

    Hi,

Has anyone seen updates on they waiver application since the shutdown started? I applied for the waiver based on no objection, with the timeline below.

My timing seems to be within the estimates, but I wanted to know if anyone has seen any activity on their process recently (documents received, recommendations sent, etc.)

Is anyone out there with a similar timeline?

    Thank you all!

Hi GIP, In my case DOS also received my NOS on 13 Nov and I received a favorable recommendation on 10 Jan 2019.

Thanks a lot for the info. Let me go through the requirements and will let you know if I need the lawyer's contact

(our department has assigned an attorney to help me dealing with visa application, so will also consult the attorney for this O visa option).

Hello GKT, I have succesfully apllied  and got O1 petition approved. If you need any info on the process, please write to me at ahfazahmed85@gmail.com.

I just got back home and my NOA was in the mailbox.

Congratulations J1waiver2018 for getting the NOA. Now since you have been through the process, can you please tell me the about the

envelopes used to send these docs:

    1. Favorable recommendation from DOS

    2. Notice from USCIS indicating they have received your case

    3. NOA from USCIS.

If you can please tell me which envelop/service was used to send these documents it will help me understand the process.

Yeah, you are correct. The first envelope should be used to send the I797c (Note of action) from USCIS when they get the recommendation. The second one USCIS should use to send your second Note of Action, which hopefully will be your final waiver.

I donot understand, I submitted two envelopes and both will be used by USCIS ? In that case, DOS will use their own envelope to send the recommendation?

    Hello Friends,

I have applied for waiver under No Objection Category and have attached my timeline below.  I have noticed in some of the posts the USDOS asks the sponsor for their view, in my case I finished my J-1 program in March 2017 and I am out of US since then. Will DOS still contact the sponsor?

    Hello,

I sent my J1 waiver application by mail on 11/16 and it just got the received status on the website. The funny part is that the embassy of my home country (Brazil) sent the NOS also on 11/16, however it seems that they haven't received yet. Should I be worried?

    Thanks

    B

In my case they updated the the NOS receipt within a few days. I suggest you go ahead and inquire with your embassy and DOS about the NOS.

    I received my I-797 today!

Weirdly, the website still shows "Case Was Received At Another USCIS Office" even if the notice date for my I-797 was Oct/11.

Anyways, I'm glad that this is over, even if I don't actually need the waiver anymore. I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Hi Morasem, I have a question and I hope you can answer. How do you figure out the receipt number for USCIS case ?

  16. Guys, My case is currently under deliberation at DOS, if someone can tell me when the DOS forwards the case to USCIS how will I get to know my receipt number ? Along with waiver application I submitted two self addressed envelopes one will be used by DOS to share the recommendation and other will be used by USCIS to share the I-797 (I guess). If the USCIS sends the notice of receipt will they use the address indicated o these envelopes ?
