  1. Hi again, everyone.

My husband's interview is at the London embassy on Friday. We know that he had to print his instruction page confirming his interview time. However, on the instruction page, it says you need to print it "along with the letter or email you received from the Consular Section."

We haven't received a letter from the Consular Section, as far as I'm aware. I know the process has changed now and people schedule their own interviews for this visa. Even when the interview was scheduled, my husband never got a confirmation email or anything like that - he only ever got access to the instruction page on the website.

Are we missing something? Can anyone that has interviewed recently confirm that this instruction page (which has the visa interview time and the courier information on it) is all that we'll need?

    Thanks for your help :)

  2. Hi all. In the document checklist it lists that the beneficiary should bring an original or certified copy of their own birth certificate, plus that of their spouse, even if their spouse isn't immigrating with them. So I guess that would be me, the US citizen. Can anyone confirm that this is actually necessary? I don't have a certified copy of my birth certificate here in England with me, and I have no idea where the original is. I imagine it'll be difficult for me to get ahold of a certified copy now! Thanks for any help.

  3. Hi all,

We are DCF filing in London. If my husband schedules his interview for January, does anyone know what would be considered the most recent year for tax returns? Would we then need to submit my tax return for 2018, rather than 2017? Will I have to get everything filed before the interview date? I'm a bit confused about the timing because I just realized another tax year would be over in the U.S.!

Last year I got an extension and didn't file until September. This is because I waited to file in the UK first in April. Will this still apply now or will I have to file earlier? What year of tax returns will they expect?

    Many thanks for any help!

  4. Hi - another couple of questions here. Can anyone tell me how far out you can schedule your embassy interview after filling out the DS-260 online? For example, could my husband fill it out this month, even if he doesn't want to do his interview until January? Or would it be better to wait to fill out the DS-260?

How recently can the I-864 be dated prior to the interview? My brother is going to be our joint sponsor - can he fill out and date the form in December if the interview won't be until January? (I ask this because my mom will be visiting us next month and could bring the form with her, rather than him having to mail it.)

Another question - If the interview is in January 2019, would the most recent tax year still be considered 2017? Or would it then be considered 2018?

Thank you for any assistance you all can provide!

  5. Hi all,

I apologize because I am sure this has been asked before, but I want to be certain. We just had our I-130 approved in London after about 30 days of waiting, much quicker than I expected. Now we are wondering if we should delay the process at all. My husband (British citizen) wants to enter the US in June or July of 2019, and I would be going back a little earlier than him. Once he has his interview at the embassy, how long can he wait to leave the UK? I think I remember reading that the Police ACRO is only valid for so long, and also the medical exam? Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you! Hope I posted this in the right place.

  6. Hello Vanessa! I'm in a similar situation to you. I applied for my UK spouse visa a couple of years ago, and we submitted the I-130 at the end of September. We are still waiting to hear back, but I figured I'd chime in on a couple of points:

    - I'm a freelancer, also (as well as holding a permanent part-time job), and I just included one of my job as self employed (with the address as my home address), which is what I did on both my UK and US taxes. I don't know for sure yet if this is correct, but I'll let you know if I hear anything!

    - My dad is deceased - I just wrote his most recent address, followed by (DECEASED). I'd seen other people do that on sample forms.

Hope that helps! Just like you, I remember the UK process all too well. Really stressful. This one seems much better.
