  1. Congratulations to both of you

will be a magnificent life..i have the good vibe, as for me and my american sweetheart, we fell in love 7 years ago..and i am finally moving to usa, (sometime this december) after quarterly travel beween usa and australia for 7 yrs.

Angel and I are getting married on the beach in ohua hawaii in february and honeymooning on a neighbouring island..from my research, wedding has to be in a usa state...so caribbean is dodgy..may be that can be the anniversary?/

    good luck

    Pete

My darling Sasha and I hope to be together by spring 2008. We want to get married soon after her arrival in an attempt to adjust her status sooner than later. We have also decided to celebrate the occasion with a very small, private wedding away from our home in Virginia. Rather than spending loads of money for a large formal wedding that will only satisfy relatives and friends, we've opted to spend very little on the actual wedding and enjoy a nice long romantic honeymoon. If we spend thousands and thousands on a wedding, we will not be able to take a nice honeymoon together. We would like to take off for somewhere tropical, marry there, vacation for a week, then come home. I'm not sure if she will be able to travel to the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Barbados, or other Carribean Islands. Is it possible?? Or perhaps we will be limited to somewhere within the U.S. We would settle for Florida or Hawaii, but would prefer to go to the Carribean. I'm sure if I researched enough online I would find the answers, but I'm medicated right now for a severe migraine and I'm feeling quite lazy. So, thanks for anyone who can answer this for me definitively.

Also, does it matter if we get married in any place other than our home state? Thanks again...

  2. national identification service in london I should say, not national information service

    hi all K1'ers

I am an aussie awaiting K1 visa interview date to be scheduled.

After acquiring what I thought was all the needed documentation for scheduling Sydney K1 visa interview, (including Aussie police clearance check, medical check etc etc) US consulate notified me I need an additional police clearance check from UK for the 12 month period Jan -Dec 2000, when I was there for a teaching exchange.

This I submitted hastily to UK, but I had to have local police authority submit my paper work, (with payment ONLY permissable in UK pounds sterling cheque) to National Information Service in London, whi say by law, they are entitled to take up to 40 days to check any criminal history against date of birth, with no prioritising of urgent cases...

I share this in case there are other applicants who may have worked outside of their country of origin for a short period, who may get this similar surprise..

  4. Friends and fellow journeyers...

    My situation:

    I'm the Aussie male beneficiary

K1 visa NOA2 dated August 30, sent to NVC from California.

Petition has not arrived at NVC, according to NVC staff over phone, (receipt # not on their system)

My fiancee and I have planned the following:

My flight in to USA December 8 (airticket not yet booked)

Marriage and honeymoon in Hawaii booked Feb 16 -27, 2008

I hear that Sydney consulate is taking bookings now for December and January?

Can anyone confirm this or otherwise? Can I confirm it by ringing consulate on Monday?

When should I book the airticket? After I know NVC has the petition? After I get interview date? After visa is issued?

Thanks for those with wisdom on this...

How do i go about getting my police check done?

Can i get medical done too now..or do I need that dictated by Sydney consulate, after I get interview date?

    Pete

  5. friends

My American fiancee has received first touch. I am relocating to USA on K1 visa. As I think about Sydney interview, what information needs to be provided/prepared concerning my financial position? Is there any kind of assets test or does the immigration office only ask about occupation?

    thanks for any enlightenment

    Pete

  7. Hi Petefrmoz,

I am also from Oz and will be flying to JFK in early March. As far as I know you can still get the EAD pretty reliably at JFK but I don't know for how long that will last.

I intend flying through Tahiti to make JFK my POE. Have you been into the Aussie Forum here. You can talk to other friendly aussies who are going through the process.

    Good luck

    Girlfrmoz

    Hi,

I wasn't expecting such quick replies, thanks..My fiance and i have been doing this long distance for 7 years..Towards the end of 2007, I will be entering on K1 and we are finally getting married! Good luck with the entry via JFK, I hope you get to post your experience on here. We just have to be patient one more year, then noooooooooo more waiting EVER!

    thanks

    Petefrmoz

  8. Hello readers, Should I be concerned about which US port of Entry i select? JFK and Atlanta used to have their immigration officers provide work permits..Is that History now..from what posters on this forum are saying, there is a very real possibility that I have to be unemployed for 3 months when i arrive in USA on a k1 fiance visa

Has anyone found otherwise within the last 12 months and been successful in legally obtaining authority to work?

    thanks

    Peter
