  1. Hello everyone. I just read a thread here that a consular turned down a couple because of one of the parties not being there at the initial interview. Is this true? The reason I ask is, that I might not have the money just to fly over there to support my wife in Manila at the interview when the time comes.

It is going to be a real struggle for me right now. Since I got married last November, my ex-wife got so resentful for my decision to get married that they started to garnish my wages for my job. I am only pulling only $200.00 per week on my regular job. My other job as a roofer has not had any work for the last month. To make a long story short, with the new fee increases it's going to be a real struggle to get my wife and step child over here. The only thing that I am banking on is that about the time that it all processed which will probably about next year in March I will be getting a cash buyout from my job due to outsourcing. This is what I am going to be using to get them over.

But if the process gets done before my job ends, I might not have enough money just to fly over there and be at the interview.

    thanks,

    martinbr

I already finished my interview and i got the pink slip, meaning our petition was APPROVED. Im just waiting for my passport w/ the visa. Im alone when i was interviewed. Dont worry, i saw 98% of the applicants there were alone also, meaning their partner(petitioner) was not physically there. Just make sure to complete the necessary documents and ur benificiary(wife) will be fine.

  2. What's your color motif? It really depends on you, or how many colors you want as motif. If you have two (Yellow and blue, for example) Your Mom can have/wear one of the colors. In my opinion, it need not be the same color as the bridesmaids and maid of honor. Or, if you have only one color motif, your Mom can wear a different shade of that color. It need not be monochromatic.

our theme wud b somewhat Caribbean, aqua blue for the girls and royal blue for the men..

now the mothers....i dnt know yet...they say that mothers colors are different from the maid of honor and brides maid..

by the way, heres how my chosen gown looks like..

    the vest is detachable

    Nice DESIGN!!!!!!!

  3. hi shes,

If you want a ready made gown you can visit SM Malls, they have ready made gowns in department store. That is where i bought my wedding dress which cost 2k. I bought wedding dress caz we only had civil wedding so no need for me to wear a gown hehe. I wanna share you the pic so that at least you have an idea on how much more can a 10k gown will look like. :)

But if you want a gown that is affordable and would be perfectly fit on you try to go in divisoria.I know a boutique there which offers affordable prices and nice gown. The name is ELEGANT CREATION BOUTIQUE.They can be located in 2nd Floor P35 Cluster Divisoria building. Look for Ellen ( i think that is her name) +639195020073 (I'm not sure if that is still her num caz its been almost 2 yrs since the last time we contact her). My friend had her wedding in Westin Philippine Plaza and that is where they ordered her gown as well as ours (bridesmaids). Our (bridesmaid) gowns cost Php2,500. Here is the pic.

I think my friend paid Php25,000 for her gown including 3 gowns for the flower girls. In regards with the gown that your mom will wear, as far as i observed with other wedding ceremonies i attended , ang suot nila ay yung wedding motif din :). I hope this thing helps and Cheers for your wedding (F)

    PiNk :luv:

Thanks for posting w/ pictures & price. I hope more VJ members will post here. Im also looking for more suggestions where to buy the wedding gown. Im thinking of the possibility to buy it from SM also. But i will still check and research first.

  4. On May 2, 2008, St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC), the Embassy's accredited medical facility, will increase the medical examination fee by U.S. $30.70 to cover the costs of administering the currently available new vaccinations. The new medical exam fees will be U.S. $213.35 for adults (15 years and older) and U.S. $185.35 for children (under 15 years of age).

Wow....From $182.65 to 213.35 for adults, $30.70 increase is no JOKE  Good thing im already finished. I hope they will provide more QUALITY service then.

WHAT TIME DID U GO TO SLEC? IM PLANNING TO GO THERE 12:30 NOON. DO U THINK IT IS OK?

    WHAT DID U BRING? TNX.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    passport

    (3) 2x2 pictures, ull give one during the first day then another 2 on the second day

    appointment letter, original and photocopy

black pen, because ull need to fill up the forms

    Bring also...snacks, tissue

Dont forget...the POE(port of entry), the address & contact # of the petitioner

I suggest to go there in the afternoon.

    Here's my experience...

    1st Day

I arrived at 9AM, guards ask for my passport & appointment or the confirmation letter. Then, he asked if i have a photocopy of the letter. I said "YES" then he gave me Patient Data Sheet(PDS) form to fill up. Huh! I forgot the POE, address & contact # of my fiance. So i ask the receptionist about this and she said i can give those information the next day. So i gave the PDS form, photocopy of the letter & the passport to the receptionist. Ask me some questions, check if i fill up the form correctly & then wait for a few minutes before my digital picture. Im gald i met a buddy there, her name is Ate Lucy. She is applying for K1 visa also. So every process there, we are BUDDIES.

Go to 5th floor to pay at the cashier, paid 7,671.30 pesos and got the receipt. Go to the 3rd floor at the X-ray department, remove shirt or blouse, bra, necklace and dangling earrings. Then, wear a robe. Also, if u have a long hair bring a clip.

4th floor at the Laboratory Department, waited for few minutes for blood and urine test. Im always scared of blood extraction thats why i dont look at the syringe.

Around 11am, 5th floor(U.S. Counter) again, lots of people waiting for their turn. Taking height, weight, blood pressure, eye test and vital signs.

Go to 2nd floor for immunization interview. The doctor was very nice to ask questions about history of ur health, immunizations, allergies & if u had chicken pox or measles before. I had a measles when i was in high school but i cant find any scars so I volunteered that i will have the vaccines to be safe. Because i read that i will need it on applying for my Adjustment of Status in USA.

Around 1pm, we were asked to eat lunch first then go back there at 2pm. Go to 5th floor again for Physical Exam. They gave us # and lined up for room 6. The doctor there was very Serious and Strict. She asked me series of question about Past Medical History. Then, asked to remove ALL clothes while lying in the bed w/ curtain. Check my wrists, breasts, belly and ask to go sideways to check my ****. Asked me also when was my last menstrual period. Dont forget that coz they, YES coz that is the MOST COMMON QUESTION there! I think they are checking if ur pregnant.

I think we were finished around 4:30pm. It was a whole day experience. So i think its better to go there during 1pm.

    2nd Day

I arrived before 3pm because i was stuck on the traffic on South Superhighway. I supposedly be there at 1pm. Showed the guard my passport and receipt, then he checked my name on the computer.

Go to 2nd floor(again) for immunization. Waited there for a few minutes. The nurse was very nice and efficient giving me the vaccines. I said..."Are u done? Why it was so quick?" Hahaha I got 2 vaccines, MMR and Varicella.

Last step was a long wait. Go to the ground floor and i still saw my new friends and Ate Lucy, my BUDDY there. They went there at 1pm and still waiting for the result. So it means u dont need to be too early on the 2nd day. We all got the results at past 4pm, the Xray film and vaccine record w/c we will bring those in the USA. We ALL PASSED!!! YEhey!!!

Dont worry there is an elevator there. Every step they will instruct what floor to go and they will give u a flow chart to follow.

GOODLUCK to future VJ members who will have their medical exam. I hope sharing my experience will help u.

  8. I already PASSED my medical exam last April 24-25. And luckily gained FRIENDS there. Thank GOD and to all the VJ members for sharing their experience. If not from u guys...i wouldn't know what are the requirements & wont have any idea what is happening during the medical exam. Next, will be my interview on May 20.

I hope and pray that WE ALL PASSED the MEDICAL EXAM & also the INTERVIEW w/o any problem.

  9. Hello everyone, ShaSha had her first day of the medical today so I wanted to update everyone on the time spent. After reading all the info on VJ I told her to go in the afternoon. She arrived at 1:30PM and was out by 5:30PM. She did tell me that she had seen and talked to a few people who arrived at 7:00AM and they were still there until 3 or 4PM, so looks like its not good to show up early because you will have to wait all day. She did pass everything and is going back for day 2 on Thursday because she has class on Wednesday.

Honey, just got your card, thanks I love you...

    1St DAy

Yes, i arrived at 1:30PM, guards were very nice, i even left some of my stuffs(notebook from class :) ) on the guard's shelf,. I showed them my passport and NVC appointment letter(you have to photocopy it, cuz they will take the copy and give you back the original with a stamp),. the guards gave me Patient Data Sheet(PDS) form to fill up and said " maam after mo yan i fill up paki bigay nalng sa mga magagandang chicks katulad mo sa may Reception Area" hahaha,. when i gave it to them, they asked me questions and then one nice girl took me inside a room where she took digital picture..

They instructed me to go to 5th floor to pay at the cashier, I didn't notice the elevator so i used the stairs, and when i reached at 3rd floor i paused and take a deep breath and then continue to climb upstairs, when i reached 5th floor, i just noticed the elevator,. :bonk: I paid 7,671.30 pesos they gave me the receipt,..

They told me to go to the 3rd floor at the X-ray department, the girl there wasn't very nice,.

Then I went to 4th floor at the Laboratory Department, i waited for more than 30 minutes, and they gave me a urine/blood specimen bottles,. the Needle that they used to extract blood is kind of Big, i think it's 18 gauge needle, I'm not sure though, but it's ok, just relax and follow what they say to you,. restrooms have tissues, but bring your own tissue just in case...

Then I went to 5th floor, that's the place where they take your vital signs and height and weight and eye test,. nurses there are nice... You need to use your sense of hearing, cuz people are so noisy and sometimes when your name is called you can't hear it.. US Counter called my name and gave me my papers and passport and asked me to wait in front of Room number 6, they will give you a number (mine is 20) i just waited there for 20 minutes and the doctor called my name, it's my turn for Physical exam... she asked me few questions( girls you need to recall the your LMP last menstrual period cuz it's the most common question they ask)..

the doctor usually entertain two patients at a time, so there were two of us in the room, while she was interviewing me, she asked the other girl behind the curtain to disrobe completely.. it's ok you can still maintain your privacy cuz only the doctor could see you and not the other patient,. but sometimes, when you're behind the curtain, you can hear the doctor interviewing another patient,..(don't listen to them, just mind your own bussiness :P ). doctor asked me about my birthmark on my right arm,. and she carefully inspect wrists,.. so that's all...

I went to 2nd floor for immunization interview,. they ask you if you have had immunizations.,.BCG scar etc... and they ask you if you had chicken pox before and locate the scars,.. they also asked me about any allergies,. i told them i have allergies with chicken and eggs,.

Then they told me that i need MMR and HP(it's actually anti cervical cancer) .. so that's it..

I went to check-out counter and they gave me my receipt and passport,. they told me to go back the following day at 2PM, i asked them if it's ok to go back a day after next cuz i have a class, the girl asked me when will be my interview date, i said April 29, she said ok,.

So 5:30 PM i was outside St. Lukes...

    2ND Day

I arrived there at 2pm, showed the guard my passport and receipt, then he checked my name on the computer( master list) and there i saw my picture which was taken on my 1st day Medical exam,

I went to the 2nd floor for immunization, i gave my receipt to the gentlemen on the table,.

I waited there for more than an hour, still nothing happened, i was kind of mad and getting impatient, i called the guy in pink who took my receipt, and asked him how much longer will i wait there,. he said, he already gave my receipt to the nurses there and maybe I'm next...

still nothing happened,. i was very mad and saw the guy in pink again, he was eating French fries,. i asked him to follow up my papers, he was like "relax ma'am, if you'll kiss me i will go check your papers now" i know he was kidding but i was very mad at him.... and asked him to do what i want him to do, so he stopped eating and go downstairs and got my X-ray result and other papers, and he gave it to the nurses at the immunization room,... 2 minutes after my name was called, and they interviewed me again about my allergies, the nurse took me to the doctor and the doctor interviewed me again,. she's not very nice,..i just told them what happened to me when i ate chicken and eggs,. so they told me that since i have an allergic reaction with eggs they can't give me the MMR vaccine,. so they just gave me one shot it's the HP or anti cervical cancer..

at last I'm done and went downstairs to get the X-ray result and my receipt, they got my passport,....

Tips for those who have small kids,.

    bring some finger foods

bring some toys for them to play, while waiting,.

bring jacket if your kids have cold intolerance..

bring some tissue or handkerchief to wipe your kid's tears when they cry.. :D

    God bless us all....

Very well said. Ive been in the same route. I got my medical last April24-25 and i PASSED. Yehey

I do suggest to go there in the afternoon.
