Hmm very interesting. Maybe we will try it with $750 since a short delay wouldn't cause us much issue.

Thank you!

Step-son just arrived from Colombia on a K2 and my wife came November of 2018. We are doing his AOS fees and I'm not sure which fees I need to pay. Is it $1220 with biometrics because it's delayed 11 months? Or is the biometrics not needed? Thanks

My wife's second son just arrived on his K2 visa. He was not listed on the original I-864. Is it best to do a new I-864 for him? He is 6 years old. Any other considerations for a delayed K2? Thank you!

Getting right to the point. We have a AOS interview scheduled for Oct 7th. My second step son who is 6 years old is due to arrive in the US on October 27th as k2. I'm wondering if it's possible to have him added to the AOS last minute and reschedule the interview to include him. Obviously we need to pay and send documents probably. Does anyone have any advice on getting this to happen? Much appreciated.

The consolate in Bogota specifically asks for certified originals then sent the packet to Chicago uscis. Ugh.

Assuming the child is not yours, any issues with the other parent
We ran into a snafu today with the process. The list of required documents says we need to send original certified copies of the divorce decrees but unfortunately all of our documents are with immigration in Chicago after being sent in for the K1. It seems excessively long that they are holding on to these documents.

Nope, he's willing to sign any documents needed.

Any idea how long until we get a response with an interview? Less than 6 months or more? Thanks for your quick response.

My fiance entered the US November 30th on a K1. We were engaged and have begun the AOS in mid February. On May 29th we filed a DS-160 for her child to come over on a separate K2 after contacting the consolate in Bogota and requisting follow to join for the child. Is there a specific Timeline or instruction on this type of immigration process? When should we send supporting documents? Is an interview required for a 6 year old child? Any other considerations we know already the father must sign special documents to allow the child to immigate? Thanks for your help!

No it doesnt say that. Not in the tips nor the link I posted. It says they are included on the K1s AOS I864. Read the post by DeeKayCee..
So NikLR stated the following in my reply to another thread
"Either way EACH AOS needs it's own I-864 with the person the I-=864 is sponsoring as the principal immigrant on that I-864.
Husband - I-864 named as principal immigrant, step son counted under dependents.
stepson- - I 864 with step son named as principal immigrant, husband listed under married. "
So that is not correct then?

Thanks so the Tips is outdated then and needs to be updated? According to the thread you mentioned a new I-864 needs to be completed and submitted for the K2 or I may get an RFE? Much appreciate the help.

I had someone tell me that an additional I-864 needs to be completed (not a copy) for a K2 AOS but the child is under 14 and it states in the guide here https://www.visajourney.com/content/k2-visa-adjustment-of-status-tips
" I-864 - Affidavit of Support: K-2's don't require their own separate I-864 with supporting documents (tax returns, etc). Make sure they are listed in section 9 of the K-1's I-864, and provide a photocopy of the K-1's I-864 with the K2's paperwork"
Which is correct?

Just realized this thread was for February of last year oye. But thanks for your responses. Hopefully you can make it clear because this form/process I find to be very confusing.

Hi - does anyone have an answer?
Did you ever get an answer on this? Could they make the I-864 more confusing? I'm trying to figure out how I don't need a separate I-864 for my K2 stepson but I am also not supposed to list him in section 3 question 2 and then as Family member 1. They could definitely make this part more clear. Thanks

I'm filing for our AOS in the next week and I normally don't do my taxes until March. I have transcripts for 2017, 2016, and 2015 and all exceed the minimum income requirements. Do I need to file 2018 taxes before I submit my I-864? Thank you again for all of your help!

The response time is nothing short of amazing on this site. I wish I had know about this 14 day limit before. Thank you all!!!

Does the EAD get sent automatically or do we need to apply for it and pay additional fees? Thank you!

Hey folks in all of our back and forth trying to get our wedding completed before the AOJ process we completely forgot about the SSN and unfortunately when we went to apply today for the SSN our I-94 date was 13 days from expiration so she was rejected for a SSN application. So we need to figure out the best way to get a SSN now and preferably as quickly as possible. What is the best course of action to take at this point? We are getting ready to file for our AOJ but unfortunately in Iowa that process takes a year. My wife wants to volunteer with the schools but that requires a background check and a SSN. My wife is a K1 visa recipient. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Most of the information relating to the Bogota embassy is located in the Colombia portal. There is a lot of good information in this portal. I'm not 100% positive about the I-134f but I believe only one form is needed because you list the children of the beneficiary on the form. And in regards to the permission of the child, you will need an (autorizacion para salir del pais a menor) from the notary in Colombia. The father of the child will need to sign this form. The notarized form is valid for 3 months
Thank you for the prompt reply. The portal (which I didn't know about) has provided me with already useful information that has avoided possible delays in our approval. I did not have certified copies of my divorce decree but that is clearly specified in the instructions from the Bogota Consolate so I have those now in hand. Thanks again!

¡Gracias!
We will process our K1 visa and interview through the Consolate of Bogotá. What special considerations should we make for this interview and approval? My Fiance also brings her 10-year-old son with the K2 visa. For example, I understand that in Colombia it is necessary to submit 1 form I-134 per person (one for fiancé and one for your child) with all the supporting documents for both applications, is that correct? I also understand that there is a specific letter necessary to obtain permission for your child to be eligible for the K2 visa. Something we should know is special for the interview? What suggestions or comments you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

1. You must disclose 22a-23 that you filed Affidavit of Support in the past.
2. You must disclose 26a-27 you petitioned for your ex-wife
Put ex-wife/divorce should work.
3. You are correct, only accompanied child.
Awesome, thank you!

Hey there folks, old follower but new account. The people here are always super helpful. So to make it short and sweet. I brought my exwife over on a CR1 visa a few years back and now we are divorced. I have listed her in section 3 questions 22a -23 and 26a-27. She works and was never listed as a dependent on my taxes, does she need to be included as a dependent or listed anywhere else on the form and what should I put as the Relationship to me? Another quick question since I am here, she has 2 children under 21 but only 1 will be coming over on the K2, is it correct for the i-134 I only need to list the child coming over on the K2? Thank you!!!
by this I mean my new fiance ", she has 2 children under 21 but only 1 will be coming over on the K2, is it correct for the i-134 I only need to list the child coming over on the K2?"
