So I wanted to bring my Mother In Law and my Brother In Law from India over to visit (2-3 months at a time), what would be the best route to get them a Visa? Or what would be the best visa for them?

Acording to profile, your wife will be entering on an IMMIGRANT CR-1 or IR-1 visa, so NO AOS required.

Passport is stamped with I-551 stamp, making the passport a temp GREEN-CARD.

If you checked need SSN on the DS-230 you should see a card within 30 days, if not then visit SSA office and order a card.

Green-card should arrive in a month or so, in the meantime you use passport like a green-card.

yes you should be the agent, and send an email to NVC stating you want your husband to be the agent

1. How long does it usually take to ship and arrive? (they sent it on the 13th and it still hasn't arrived, being the 18th)

2. I'm assuming my wife does not need to have my I-864, taxes and what not?

3. Also assuming that my wife doesn't need my I-134?

I'm planning on sending my wife new pay-stubs, another employement letter and my tax forms.

I had emailed the embassy asking if they recieved my case, they replied by stating they recieved Packet 3 (which i assume is my case from NVC)

The US visa office stated the Mumbai emabassy scheduled her interview on the 6th of Nov and that the package was sent on the 13th. She still hasn't recieved anything (19th) and i'm starting to get worried her Packet 4 was lost.

Several questions for the Packet 4 that is sent by the Mumbai Embassy

The reply I got was the following:

If you are a US Citizen, just call the Dept of State at (202) 663-1225. Dial option 1(one), then option 0 (zero)

to get through to the operator. Once there, just ask them you would like to inquire about the status of your

case. Give them your case number and beneficiary's name. I found out when the Embassy recevied my

case and also found out my interview date as well.

yeah i'll probably give them a call Monday morning, i emailed the embassy and on Tuesday they were trying to schedule an appt. Hopefully by Monday they have a date

After the case is sent to Mumbai, you cannot call any number in the United States to conform that they have received the package. You can contact the embassy in Mumbai to see if they received it. But I have heard that it is almost impossible to contact the embassy in India through the phone. I sent an e-mail to the New Delhi Embassy and they replied after four days. So I would say that give the embassy few days and send them an e-mail asking them about your case package.

Hi, how long does it take for NVC to send our case to the embassy? I know once it gets to the embassy, theh time it takes to the interview depends on (and varies widely by) the embassy, but I thought maybe time from NVC "case complete" to sending out our case to the embassy, there is some expected time frame (e.g., 2 weeks)? If you know from your experience how long your case took, please let me know. Thank you!

standard reply the NVC gives is 2-4 weeks. From what I see reading the sigs on the forum it usually takes 4-10 days.

A little bit of info regarding how they determine to ship it:

My case was completed fairly quickly on the 28th of August, and I was hoping my case would be shipped on Tuesday the 4th. I called the NVC operator and he stated 2-4 weeks but it should be soon, so I called today and asked what's the status.

I got the 2-4 weeks answer again, and frankly that's very upsetting, we pay a large amount on fees, paperwork, shipping and told that we have to wait 2-4 weeks for our packages to be shipped. This means that your paper work will sit there for 2-4 weeks until they ship it. So I asked to talk to a supervisor to ask why does it take the NVC 2-4 weeks to call DHL (who they use for overseas shipment) to pick up a package and ship it. I understand if it took 1 work week (which is totally understandable), because of logistics and shipping cost....well this is the answer i got.

we wait until the truck is full to send cases...why? to save money. He did say it should be sent this week, apparently they have trucks sent every week.

Funny, we pay fees for our paper work to be processed, we take our time to ensure all our paper work is in order, we wait an uncertain amount of time to see our spouces, only to be told that the NVC will take it's time to ship your case, just to save money.

I will happily pay anouther $100-300 whatever to ship my case right away.

my case was complete from the NVC on 8/28/07

so thats mean they r not going to prove the i-130 ,or they will denied the visa when it get's to the embassy?

yes you might want to talk to a lawyer about this to double check.

Stabu, you can call the NVC and ask them what the status is and how far from being complete the case is. they'll give you the generic 2-6 week answer, but might also state "it should be done soon though but alow 2-6 weeks". I called the 27th and the customer service person stated that it was going be completed soon.

I was wondering what's the average time for a Visa interview between getting the NVC approval to getting a notice of the Visa Interview, and then actual Interview?

Update: Last night I talked to my husband on the phone and he said he got the IV fee bill yesterday in the mail. That's very strange because the automated system still said it's only been generated.. I keep my fingers crossed for you that you get it soon too.

Same here, it came the same day, but my parents didn't see it until Sat afternoon. Oh well i'll send it out overnight on monday.

So apparently the IV bill was generated on July 9th about 11 days ago but still hasn't arrived. Does this make sense? I know the center is in MO and I live in MAss, but how can it take more then 10 days to deliver a package across a dozen states?

I called NVC they stated the address was correct and it was sent out...is this a normal ?

Thanks, don't feel as bad I'm just getting restless. It's been almost 8 months since we applied, and I was hoping that if we got all the documents by july's end she'll be here october. Just in a bad mood because of all this waiting for the postal service.
