Hello po. I was looking for posts about traveling back to Philippines and I saw yours. I got my green card and planning to visit my family in PH. Ask ko po sana if I have to change my name in my passport before traveling, since maiden name ko yung nasa passport. I hope anyone who see this can help me ☺️ Thank you!

No, you do not have to change the name in your passport or the stupid CFO certificate. When you go back to the Philippines make sure you bring your green card, marriage license, and your passport. When you get to immigration at NAIA please show the Green Card and the Marriage License when you get up to the counter. Also when you leave to fly back to the Philippines show them the Green Card and Marriage License at the ticketing counter as well.
Don't forget to book any and all tickets in the name that is in your passport not the green card.
Edit. I am not calling you stupid sorry but I am calling the CFO certificate stupid.
I agree! I don’t even know why do we have to have that certificate. Thank you so much for the response!!

Hello everyone! I got my Green card few months ago and I want to visit my family in the Philippines. I got here by K1 visa. My question is, do I have to change my name in my passport before going back to Philippines? And is there anything else I have to keep in mind about documents? I remember I have to change my name in my CFO certificate.

Thanks again! I’m a worrier so I try to make sure of everything 😅 coz I have a friend in Facebook shared that she updated her passport’s name after she got her GC, and I thought maybe I have to do that too . So I started searching about the process of changing name in my passport, and I saw all these requirements and long process in DFA website and I start to wonder if I really have to do that or maybe I can just change it while I’m in Philippines. My husband said he’ll just get me a US passport since I’m now a resident but I said we can’t do that coz I’m still a Filipino citizen 😄
